Anyone else seen this?
I have. To quote a friend
"I wish I had that time rewinding dagger. That way I can go back two hours and stop us making a big mistake."

I am completely and totally indifferent to this film with no plans to see it in the future.

And I loved the game.

I hated all the games with the exception of the PoP remake. I'm gonna go ahead and rank the movie down there with Tekken and Dead or Alive movie adaptations. Freaking Shrek beat this movie out. SHREK! So that right there tells how good this movie is gonna be.

I fail to see what exactly is horrible about this movie? Cliche's or not, this was entertaining and beats out every single game-to-movie made.

I don't know, Hitman was pretty entertaining and enjoyable. Other than that, Double Dragon....I've enjoyed better farts. Mario Bros, Doom, Resident Evil, Far Cry, Street Fighter!

At least Street Fighter was so bad it was good. And I'm sure Mortal Kombat holds a special place in all our hearts, but it was still crap. Other than that, there isn't much to compare.

And SF was so bad it was downright terrible.

I've enjoyed MK, but this movie was better.

So going by that logic Shrek 2 and 3 = better than : Iron Man , Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl , Jaws , 2009 star trek , Toy Story and more as shrek 2 and 3 = top 22 at box office of all time. The fact Shrek beat it means nothing as Shrek sells.

And in complete contradiction to the first post, I'll be leaving to see this as soon as I finish this sentence.

Street Fighter is sooo fun to watch and make fun of. The only memorable part of Mortal Kombat was that Tony Jaa was the stunt double for Liu Kang that jump kicked Shang Tsung off the ledge to kill him. That's pretty funny. If you listen closely you can hear "elephant" being chanted in his native Thai.

Is it true that if you see this movie, Shrek Forever After and Sex and the City 2 in a row, the world is destroyed?

I liked this movie, in the action adventure genre it was a very well paced movie. I never played the games and don't really care to. It felt like a cross between Mummy 1 and Scorpion King 1, with a little bit of Troy thrown in. (all of which I loved). You start to figure out whats gonna happen towards the end, but still entertaining to watch.

8.7/10

on a side note, i thought Ben Kingsley who played the uncle, was Howie Mandel

Doom was better. Mortal Kombat was better. umm... I got nothing else.

The film itself was incredibly predictable.
"I have to go see my uncle! he'll help me!" = Dude, your uncle is Ben Kingsley, he's not going to help you... (Note, why didn't Kingsley just wear gloves handling the evil poison robe? That way noone works anything out and he wins.)
For some reason the dead dad, kid on the run and evil uncle plot just made me think it was The Lion King.
There were moments watching him run and jump on ledges made me wonder when a spiked pit, or a platform that moves back and forth would appear. We get it, I know he jumps and climbs a lot in the game. No need to turn him into a sodding monkey.
Alfred Molina and the Knife throwing guy were awesome.

It wasn't a horrible film, it was entertainingly bad. They could have done worse and hired Ewe Boll to direct.

Super Mario Bros is a classic so-bad-it's-good amongst my friends and I.

The only videogame movies I've seen that don't suck are the two Tomb Raider flicks. The second one's borderline but it was certainly a good time at the movies when I saw it, and the first one is one of those ridiculous films that just stays entertaining and watchable after a dozen viewings.

The Halo trilogy could still make an epic, amazing movie.

"Good videogame movie" is an oxymoron and it seems it will be for quite some time.

the same is true for me and I think most video game adaptations. It's so bad it's good.
