Deadline have confirmed it. Bond 23 is happening in July 2012.

Delighted about this. A guarantee that we'll get at least one more film out of Daniel Craig before he bows out.

I hope they try to blend some more traditional elements into this new one. Play the theme tune throughout the movie like in the older ones, bring back Moneypenny and Q, etc. They've done the "gritty realism" bit wonderfully and they've established an excellent Bond in Craig. Now let's take his character and give him a grander stage in which to play.

As great as this is....

.... and as much as I hope they do all that....

.... they're giving the film to yet another director who exclusively does slow-burning dramas and tragicomedies? After action-expert Martin Campbell gave us Casino Royale while Mark Forster followed it with Quantum of Solace?

I'm glad there's more Craig, I hope it's much better than QoS and closer in tone and style to CR, I'm relived Paul Greengrass didn't get it. Here's hoping the story's good.

Re: James Bond 23 Discussion Thread

I was underwhelmed by Royale and hated Solace, but I do like Sam Mendes, so at least it has that going for it.

WHAT?!?

BOND WONT BE IN 3D?!?

the small miracles in life

Re: James Bond 23 Discussion Thread

I hope it introduces Blofield.

Re: James Bond 23 Discussion Thread

I doubt Blofeld is going to appear, but I'd say there's a good chance of a character like him appearing. More likely, there'll be a couple of different people, a "Board of Directors" of Quantum.

Thats good news. So glad we'll get to see Craig as Bond again, especially after playing Blood Stone and the re-made Goldeneye. I've had a hankering for some new Bond.

I agree with this to a point. I think it'd be a good idea to include some of the more classic elements of Bond's mythos, just not too far. Some nice little nods, references, or even character appearances (as long as it makes sense for the story) would be nice, but no hokey old-school Bond technology (laser-shooting watches and submarine cars--I know I always reference those, but they make my point so nicely).

But yeah, very glad MGM got their money troubles figured out enough to get this movie off the ground. Can't wait. Also good news in the sense that now the Hobbit films are moving forward as well (they were also delayed due to MGM's money problems).

Re: James Bond 23 Discussion Thread

It's going the to be the 50-year anniversary film and all, so I'd be very surprised if they didn't do a few references. Although I'd say this time they'll be far more careful as Die Another Day was pretty much "James Bond References: The Movie". And that film was loaded with silliness (invisible cars, terrible CGI, Halle Berry).

There's no excuse for not bringing the theme tune back for a prominent action scene in this film, I think.

Re: James Bond 23 Discussion Thread

And there it is. JAMES BOND 23: WE DON'T NEED A SUBTITLE BECAUSE IT IS JAVIER BARDEM

I think the tagline should be "Flipping you off with awesome".
