The Apple Products Thread

Good news everybody!

iOS5 is in Gold Master, meaning it should only be a matter of a couple weeks before it's released to the public.

Awesome. Now I need to fight the urge to install it on my iPad.

Yeah, i made the mistake of installing it on my phone, not having a developer UID, it kinda made my phone barf and I reinstalled 4.3.5

I had a developer UID for iOS 4 - I don't know if it's still good. I'm tempted to find out.

If it looks like this;

You'll need this

Got this in the mail today. Once I get my HDMI Cable (Costed me 5 bucks) I'll be all set.

We discovered the iTouch last month. I like the fact that there are a billion apps for running role-playing games.

Installing iOS 5 Gold Master on my iPad now. If all goes well I'll probably run it on my iPhone tonight.

iOS 5 is so great. The notification system overhaul is worth it in and of itself, but iMessage is great because I can "text" the same numbers from my iPad as I do on my phone. That's great.

Battery life seems to have taken a hit but I guess that's to be expected.

One thing I'm not crazy about is the report that the iPhone 4S only has 512MB of RAM - the one thing that it was generally presumed by people (at least it seemed) was that the 4S had 1GB of RAM and that's the only way it could run Siri. I should be able to run Siri on an iPad 2 if this is true - it has the same processor and amount of RAM.

But, yeah, I get that it's a sales thing.

So I got bored today and decided to see how far back the calendar on my iphone goes. I gave up in the middle of the 1700s, but I noticed that the number of days in the months were off when you go that far back (January had 28 days, february had 31, etc). I actually took the time to figure out where the switch happened (i thought maybe there was some historical reason). It turns out that the iCal on my iPhone skips January 1895. It assigns the days that should have been in January to December 1894 and then all the months prior to then are off by one.

Strange.

It is strange.

That you worked that out.

You... dear god, you need some friends and a hobby. I'm crying just thinking about you, all alone, with nothing to do except HEY! My iPhone has January 1895! This is heavy. In your face, Cap'n.

Well, I've figured out my plans for this weekend.

I got the 4s and it's back-ordered and I'm waiting.

Didn't you have an iPhone 4? And aren't you still under contract? Why would anyone bother with this upgrade? The 5 is likely going to be a huge upgrade over the 4 and 4S.

yes but I dropped mine in um milk months ago and the sound is all glitchy. So I sold it to my brother and added him to my plan.

Plus I want the 64 GB space.
