Valiant Relaunch

I finished it before I started PMing about it. I read it all in one sitting. When I said I didn't like any of the characters I was 100% caught up.

I loved Omegas. It'll be interesting to see how the title continues to approach the fallout of Harada's powers being outed to the world, as well as the other Harbinger members.

Of course it's good, it's Christopher Priest.

I'm not sure if I've ever read anything by him. What else has he written?

A bunch of stuff but he's best known for having the greatest Black Panther run ever. It's so damn good.

I love that now you're the one posting Valiant news articles.

But hopefully this will appeal to you, in the sense of wanting to see Aric undertaking more missions for MERO. Given the events of Armor Hunters, it's a perfect time to introduce the Armorines. I also like that Venditti's thinking of the bigger geopolitical aspect that the XO armor has on the world and the military arms race that inevitably rises out of that as part of the reaction. Plus Bernard's artwork looks damn pretty in those preview pages.

PREVIEW: Eternal Warrior: Days of Steel #1

I was wondering when Eternal Warrior would return.

I didn't read the article lol. I rarely read comic news and solicitations anymore because I'd rather not know what is coming. Figured you'd want to see it though.

I appreciate it.

I'd seen preview pencil pages of Nord's work on this, been wondering what it would be about. Knew it was an EW tale of some sort. I like the Lone Wolf and Cub influence this will likely have.

Archer & Armstrong #23 was a great ending to the American Wasteland arc, easily my favorite arc so far of the series. The social commentary regarding our country (and the world's) obsession with celebrities, the parodying of Scientology, the time travel (and how it makes sense of things from earlier in the series), resulted in an absolutely brilliant arc.

Armor Hunters #3 was a fun read, continuing the event mini-series and allowing an opportunity for Livewire in the XO armor to strike back at the Hunters... unfortunately it was only temporary. Next issue is the final issue where it all goes down.

Unity #10 (an AH tie in) offered a bit of background on the GIN-GR ship/robot thing, and allowed Livewire to feel sympathy for the creature. It also featured some badass Ninjak and Gilad scenes, and sets up the final battle in AH #4.

Also, John Layman (Chew) will be writing a story for the upcoming Archer & Armstrong #25 anniversary issue, which is simply awesome. Would love to see him as a regular contributer to A&A, or really any Valiant title that'd suit his writing style. Him doing a Q&W story (of which he's a big fan) would be great too.

"I've gotten to know the Valiant folks over the past year, and they are really a great bunch of guys. Really good people with a genuine enthusiasm for comics and a desire to create a strong, smart, unique superhero universe. It's been a real pleasure getting to know them and, now, getting to work with them.

"I'd been a longtime 'Quantum and Woody' fan, so I was on board with that one from the get-go. But in the last year or so I've met a lot of Valiant creators -- Josh Dysart, who is like a much older, less good-looking version of myself; James Asmus, who is almost as funny as he thinks he is; and Fred Van Lente, who despite his obvious physical and hygienic shortcomings, is a damn fine writer. Plus, my best buddy David Baron has been coloring for Valiant, and continually sings their praises. I started picking up more and more of their books to see what the fuss was about. And I was never let down, always pleasantly surprised. It's a diverse universe, and all of it is super high-quality stuff.

"'Archer & Armstrong' is absolutely fantastic, and I'm stoked to be part of this landmark issue. I really love the entire vibe of the book – a buddy action comedy, full of conspiracy and history, and then injected with just pure fantastic gonzo madness. I love books where you can tell the creator is having a good time, because it's infectious. I'm recommending 'Archer & Armstrong' to anybody who likes fun comics.

"I still want to do a Quantum and Woody/Chew and a Poyo/Goat crossover. It's just a matter of getting off my lazy ass and making it happen."

Archer and Armstrong - Made me want to watch Bubba Ho-Tep. Why do I keep reading this?

Armor Hunters and Unity - Tomorrow. I just wanted to say that I want to watch Bubba Ho-Tep again (that movie is awesome anyway). Then again ANYTHING would be better than the movie I'm being forced to watch right now.

Because it's amazing.

What movie are you being forced to watch?

The preview for The Delinquents #1 made me realize that James Asmus should have been writing Archer and Armstrong the whole time. Funny stuff.

I'm looking forward to The Delinquents, but I have absolutely loved Van Lente's run and wouldn't trade him for anyone. However, I'm hoping the fact that Van Lente co-plotted this mini with Asmus might mean he'll be taking the reigns of A&A after #25. That'd be awesome. I love the heavy political satire and commentary he's using.

I'd like to see a non-Liberal take over but keep the political satire and commentary. Preferably a Libertarian and not a Conservative. If only Matt Stone and Trey Parker wrote comics haha

From what I've seen of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's stuff (South Park, Team America), I'm not sure they'd be a good fit for A&A. And while I like the ideals of Libertarianism, it's modern day ideology is far too similar to Conservatism for my tastes.

Quantum and Woody then? It'd be a different book but I feel like their edgy humor would work well in there.

Ron Paul was Optimus Prime man. He even transformed into a truck.

Yeah, maybe.

I generally like both Ron and Rand Paul. I just think it's despicable how some extreme Right Wingers label themselves as Libertarians (ie, being all about freedom of choice), while vehemently opposing gay marriage, equal pay for women, trying to do away with minimum wage, etc. They're not Libertarians, they're supporters of an oligarchy masquerading as Libertarians.

I agree but I also feel like this is not the place to talk about politics. I know I brought it up but it was mainly me wishing for humor I would find funny.

You find conservative humor funny?

Funnier than Liberal yes. Liberal humor tends to be too politically correct/not agreeing with my view points. I had a big thing typed out but, again, not the place for this.
