Announcement! Mark Waid is writing "S.H.I.E.L.D.," joined by a rotating team of artists including Carlos Pacheco, Alan Davis and Chris Sprouse (cover art above). "This is S.H.I.E.L.D. the TV show, the unlimited budget edition," Waid said. "This is our chance to introduce a lot of the other characters into the Marvel Universe, and give them the Marvel Universe spin."

Waid said that every Marvel superhero is a potential S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in this series, describing the book as a "stealth Marvel team-up." Expressing his fondness for Phil Coulson as a character, Waid said he liked how the character is a genuine superhero fan, and he'll use that in the comic to assemble teams (one of which will include Rocket Raccoon and Howard the Duck, the writer indicated). "No one's off limits."

Also: "Leo [Fitz] finally gets his helper monkey," Waid said. "It seemed like a fitting Marvel Universe welcome gift."

Huh... so they're essentially adapting the Agents of SHIELD TV show and adding regular super hero crossover characters, and all set in the 616 continuity. Ok.

I'm surprised it's taken this long.

Also I hope this doesn't mean we never get to see Hickman's SHIELD finished.

They've said countless times Hickman's SHIELD is coming. Then again they've said the same thing about Captain America: White.

Yeah, doesn't mean anything. He was supposedly almost finished with the next two issues a couple years ago.

The book will feature a comic strip by Joe Quesada called Fitz & HENRY:

I don't understand the love this comic is getting even though it isn't out yet.

I'm confused.
Where have you seen that at? I haven't seen that anywhere.

Is your old man brain confusing you again?

I don't understand given the quality of the show.
That'd be understandable, if this was an adaptation of sorts from the show, but it's not.

It sure does sound like it is an adaption of sorts. It's the same characters.

Being brought into the Marvel Universe as they team up with Marvel Superheroes. Not like anything that was done in the show. At least season 1 anyways. Rocket Raccoon and Howard the Duck are but two characters named that will team up with the characters from the show for missions. That alone sets it waaaaaay apart.

Exactly. Same characters in terms of name and appearances, but not the same continuity. It's like the SLJ Nick Fury being brought into the 616 universe. Not the same character as the MCU version, it's just an attempt to capitalize on the success of the MCU.
