Star Wars General Discussion (dedicated to Houde)

The preview for Lando #1 looks fantastic...

Maleev's art is perfectly capturing Billy Dee's sly grin, and Soule's script (at least from those few pages) grabs the reader quite well.

Loving the idea of a Lando heist comic... loving the idea of a Lando heist Anthology film even more. A perfect blend of Star Wars and Oceans's 11/Dog Day Afternoon.

God, that'd be fun.

Do you guys use the Star Wars Card Trader app? I can't escape it...

DARK DISCIPLE IS OUT! So is Servants of the Empire 3.

Gameplay for Uprising. Looks pretty cool.

It was only a matter of time, but nice to have confirmation. Lord and Miller's style will be a great fit for a Han Solo origin film.

Looks like a lot of fun! And it's out in September (which makes sense, given that's when the Shattered Empire comic and other post-RotJ stuff starts coming out in preparation for Ep VII's release in December).

Yeah, I'm excited. Just hope that it's not some pay-to-win big crap. I'm more interested in the story though. I hope we get some good Moffs.

I finished the new Servants of the Empire.
Zare has the force and there's no way he isn't going to fall to the dark side. He straight up killed someone this book. This book got surprisingly dark for a kids books. Especially with the whole assassination thing. Really enjoying this

To be realistic, I'm sure it'll have micro transactions for stuff like gear and weapons, etc. That said they'll likely have free gear and weapons and premium gear and weapons. While that gives premium players an edge in terms of damage reduction on armor or damage output from weapons, I doubt it'll be pay to win (meaning you can finish it playing for free, you just won't be as powerful as premium players). I don't have a problem with that, personally.

That's interesting. I hadn't even started reading the SotE series yet because I thought it was just using Zare as a carbon copy replacement for Ezra... sounds like that isn't the case at all.

I'll wait until the final one comes out in October and read them all in one go.

Was there just a leak saying this will be called "Solo/Fett"?

Han is my favorite character from the movies but I'm a little apprehensive about this...I worry that they will be getting someone to do an impression of Harrison Ford doing Han Solo. I don't really want that.

I would be a lot more interested in things like the rumored Obi-Wan on Tattooine story or more things like the Rogue One story - that's a great idea for a film and there are so many things mentioned in the movies and not expanded on that they could make a million of those types of movies.

I'm pretty sure that pic floating around is a photoshopped fake, but could be wrong.

This was my biggest apprehension about it as well. It'll be interesting to see how they approach the casting and performance for whoever plays the young Han.

I'm sure that's their plan. They probably just want to get the ball rolling with a few of the bigger and more well known SW characters (even to casual moviegoers and non-fans).

The Obi-Wan film is something that's likely to happen, given Ewan McGregor's willingness to do so (assuming the script is good), and that idea often being one of the best received by fans for an Anthology film.

HOLY CRAP!

Ben Mendelsohn's new Moff character is indeed the big baddie of Rogue One. The other main villains of the piece are bounty hunters hired by the Moff to quietly retrieve the stolen Death Star plans at all costs. Vader factors in once he realizes that the plans have been stolen, so he joins the hunt in a supporting role and is none too pleased.

These bounty hunters include Boba Fett, Bossk, Dengar, Zuckuss & 4LOM, IG-88, and Cad Bane, who is from 'Clone Wars' and is making his live action debut.

There might some new ones as well, but that's the core group. So Fett will absolutely appear on screen again in a semi-main role before his solo film.

I'll only have a problem if the game isn't free, but we've already had a dlc discussion.

Oh he's definitely nothing like Ezra. The series always gives a lot of details on how the Empire is ran and operates. It's actually really good.

Info on Journey to the Force Awakens Books

Those are some beautiful Phil Noto covers. Lost Stars sounds absolutely gut wrenching and I love that Wedge is gonna get some spotlight. I'm surprised at the locations of the junior novels though, I would have bet money that they were going to all be after ROTJ. Should be interesting to see how they connect to Episode VII.

Lando #1 might be my pick of the week. Was a ton of fun with gorgeous Alex Maleev art and Lando was at the top of his game.
Can't wait to see how Sheev handles Lando stealing his ship

I'll actually be pretty surprised if the game isn't a free download. That just seems to be the bigger money making approach in the end through microtransactions.

Anything's possible. They could charge for it.

Lando was fantastic. The entire issue was great fun, but that ending hook... dis gun b gud.

And Maleev's art was perfect.

Man, either Dark Disciple is really bad or I underestimated how little I care about Asajj. Either way I think it's Katie Lucas's fault because the characterizations match up with her usual stuff. Quinlan's fall to the dark side is kind of cool though. I think another reason it was so bad is because you know they won't succeed in their mission. This would have worked better as episodes. Lots of big battles that would have looked good animated.

It's actually the best reviewed novel in the new SW canon so far (on Amazon anyway).

I do get what you mean about it lacking tension due to knowing the outcome though (well, part of the outcome, there were still a few surprises in store).
