So I looked more into it. A while back there was a timeline posted on the Pottermore wiki

From this I could take away 2 scenarios:

1: Hogwarts Mystery is a divergent timeline
2: Hogwarts Mystery takes place in the film universe as the Fantastic Beast movies are on there. (If we consider that the Cursed Child refers to the play and that the book universe does not have the Fantastic Beast movies as canon)

Oh I just noticed the symbols on the timeline below the entries. That would confirm that the Fantastic Beasts are movie universe for sure at least and Cursed Child play is dominant over the script in both universes.

As for Hogwarts Mystery, I would personally go with a diverged timeline. Many people said it contradicts some things from the main HP plot anyway, like the Quidditch tournaments, which of course we could look past, but ehh.
 
Apparently in Volume 2 of the game the Chamber of Secrets will be opened? I wonder how that will go

Edit: so as Volume 2 is set during the main series I think we will def. get more answers as new chapters release, but the first chapter already contradicted the canon of the books, because of Hedwig lol.

I don't think the symbols reference universes, they just reference the media the title was released.

Fantastic Beasts is canon to both, if book, movies and games are separated, which as for now IDK, coz ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
 
yeah, the more I read about it the more confused I became about the canonicity of different media. Guess I never really thought about it lol.

(IK that using smt from a wiki isn't strict canon, but it's the only thing from the internet that I found that doesn't treat, the books, movies and video games adaptations as the same universe)

Agreeable. Fantastic Beasts would be both book and movie canon I would think.

looking back at this, i see that there isn't an icon of the video games with the movies and books, so def the video games adaptations are an alternate timeline, tho they see the movies and novels being the same universe.... Hogwarts Mystery is set in the same universe "Your Hogwarts Story".

I would go with the wiki interpretation, so the movies design in mystery and awakend u say? Well or u ignore them, or u say they retconned the novel design by having the movies deisgn replace them but keeping the novels plot and lore.

Hey now that I think about it maybe having both those icons indicates this:

LORE (Novels) + Designs (Movies)

This is all thanks to my understand, I couldn't find anything about the Theme Parks, if someone knows if they have a plot or anything let me know as well if I got anything wrong or I missed anything!

For some reason, I feel like a lot of the games could be canon to the film universe, too. The upcoming show might also take the pre-Harry Potter chronological stories as canon too, just to confuse matters further.

Very very likely not canon, but what about Fantastic Beasts of the TSA? T'was released in 2016 I believe, and Newt was confirmed to still be around in 2017...

After seeing it. Idk, Newt looks way to young for a guy of 119 years.

P.S. I also love the implication that FB (Film Saga) is basically Newt's deposition in 2017 that he mattered in the defeat of Grindelwald.

Why he did that? IDK prolly he got jealous of Harry helping Dumbledore against Voldemort or something lol.

The Harry Potter Prequel --> Hogwarts Mystery (Year 1 to 7) --> Philosopher Stone --> Hogwarts Mystery (Beyond Hogwarts Volume 1) --> Chamber of Secrets --> Hogwarts Mystery (Beyond Hogwarts Volume 2) --> Quidditch Champions (set between 1st and 3rd book) --> Prisoner of Azkaban --> Quidditch World Cup --> Daily Prophet Newsletters --> Goblet of Fire --> Order of the Phoenix --> Half-Blood Prince --> Deathly Hallows --> Tales of Beedle the Bard --> Magic Awakened --> Quidditch Trough the Ages --> Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Book) --> Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Film) --> Crimes of Grindelwald --> Secrets of Dumbledore --> Hogwarts Legacy --> Wizards Unite --> Cursed Child.


I still don't know where to place the 2 short stories collections (prolly dividing each story as a single entry), the 2 spellbooks games (if they even are relevant), the 2 Companion books given at exibitions (if they're relevant) and the FB video game as I have to further analize it.

But anyways what do you think? Should I change any placements?

P.S. This is just the novel timeline, cos the other are way easier to do.
