1994 would work because the Twin Towers are still standing in X1. However we know for a fact that X3 is 2006 and the ages for the characters wouldn't line up otherwise. They double down and say 15 years since Weapon X in X2 as well. Was it officially confirmed that Origins is 1979. I know that it seemingly adapts the Three Mile Island Crisis but was that officially dubbed anywhere?
well we know that logan and victor were recruited during the vietnam war (which ended in 1975), then 6 years pass, so theoretically it could be happening anywhere from 1979 to 1981, but it really wouldn't make much sense for it not to be the actual three mile island incident considering the use of real-world events like the cuban missile crisis and the assassination of jfk as points of reference in the other movies

I had it that Stryker was using the site for secret experiments after the accident because IRL the site was still standing and not hazardously toxic but no longer operational until the mid 90s. Then the events of the film destroy the towers completely. Origins' impact on the timeline has always bugged me because the dates do not line up at all. Scott is like 12 or 13 in this film played by an actor quite clearly drastically older too. Grrr

I think Scott crying over Jean for 2-3 years is extremely terrible from character standpoint...but maybe it was fitting for this Scott who is a typical crybaby.

I dunno, I need more clues.

EDIT: X-Men: The Official Game begins and ends with a dream sequence Scott has of Jean so I guess that's a vision that brings back the trauma?
Makes more sense than him having all this grief non-stop for years on-end.

BTW it snows in Alberta from December to March. I'm going off that for X-Men and X2's snowy Alberta landscapes.

The first movie can't be in December since no Christmas lights.

I put X1 & X2 in Sept and Oct/Nov 2004, the official game in 2005 and X3 in 2006.

X1 has the world peace summit which is a bit hard to estimate a timeframe, but what narrows it down a bit is the scene where senator Kelly walks out of the ocean onto the beach which is packed with people. So that would imply a summer setting (June-Aug/Sept) I think I chose September because it's closer to Canada being cold and snowy and there was a real global summit happening in September 2004

X2 has a line of dialogue from Scott to Jean about her powers becoming a lot more stronger since she used them in X1, saying that a few months ago she couldn't even pick up a pencil with her telepathy and now she can hear someone on the other side of the world etc.
So at the very least we have to be 2 or more months after X1 but still be close to winter for the snow in Alberta but it can't be the following year as that would mess with the other dates in the 25yrs of Mutant progress advert. So to satisfy both of these I chose late Oct/early Nov 2004.

The Official game I know bridges the gap between X2 and X3 but it can't be too long after X2 and it has to be close enough to X3 as the end of the game sets up the sentinels in the beginning of X3 so I just said 2005

X3 is the easiest to place year wise as the 25yrs of Mutant progress advert gives us a concrete 2006 date but nothing else. I used Jean's neighbourhood and the forest where magneto was hiding his army as somewhere around Spring-Summer.

Roughly 18 months between X2 and X3 if we're going off of the July 29th date. Perfect. Absolute legend.

We can assume the X2 events happen before January 2005, or even 2nd November 2004 as President McKenna did not win the 2004 election, given the new president we meet in X3. Most likely a successor of the same party, but could be the opposing winner. I think October 2004 is probably a safe bet, considering Senator Kelly is still believed to be alive.

What is the real world summit you're referring to?

according to the wiki, theres a different president in each of the three original trilogy of films (unnamed in x1, mckenna in x2, and another different unnamed for x3); so i suppose the the president from x1 was finishing his first (or second) term, which was served from 2000-2004, then mckenna wins that november, meaning x2 must be late january or at least within the early months of 2005 (to keep it within a short time frame of x1), then he's impeached or otherwise somehow replaced by the time of x3 in 2006

…unless we want to assume that the original president of the us as seen in x1 is replaced by his vp (mckenna) very shortly before the 2004 election, between the events of x1 in late sept 2004 and that november, placing the events of x2 in late 2004 and still allowing the president of x3 to be elected but not yet having taken office in january 2005

or the wiki is wrong and mckenna was president for the first two movies

Do we see the President in X1?

I can't find any images, so if it was far in the bg that doesn't count. That's stand-in zone.

yeaa im having a hard time finding any evidence other than the one bg image from the wiki, so we can probably assume mckenna was president from 2000-2005, with the guy from x3 serving from 2005-2009

edit: according to imdb, david black plays "president" in x1; would have to look through the credits of the movie to see if this is accurate

edit edit: ok the image of the president of x1 according to the x-men wiki is definitely not the actor david black lmao, im electing to ignore the first guy and assume that mckenna was simply president in both films

Also, global warming.
So snowy weather in Alberta was probably more present through out the year in the early 2000s.

Weird continuity error but not really (if you know Sabretooth): weird how they imply he dies in the X2 Wolverine prequel comic due to "his body rejecting the Adamantium" Stryker's goons forced in him after capture. Since he shows up in the X-Men Official Game, we can assume his healing factor made him comatose during the process and sometime after they dumped his body he woke up.

That's the way I saw it.

apologies if i missed a previous discussion but what evidence is there that logan is with team x for several months before leaving? also what's to prevent apocalypse from being the specific opening weekend of rotj in may?

Hi, I rewatched X-Men: Origins Wolverine the other day, and I had 2 questions:

1) How did Stryker's team find Scott/Cyclops? They don't have a Cerebro or anything like that, we see that he already has his mutant powers awakened, because he is wearing glasses, which he definitely got through his brother Alex, who asked Hank/Beast to make, in Original Timeline, Alex didn't take Scott to school, like he did in Revised Timeline, in Apocalypse.

2) How did Stryker get away with being arrested in the post-credits scene, for having been accused of killing the general he killed in the movie, did he accused Wade Sr. for this and Three Mile Island incident?, because as we saw in X2, he is working in a government department, he is fine.

What headcanons/theories do you have?

I also noticed that the Alkali Lake base appears destroyed on the outside when Logan visits at the beginning of X2, in Origins, appears normal, including showing the people arriving to see the Adamantium experiment, what would have caused this?

I have a headcanon, different from Origins topic, that Moira McTaggart later, between First Class and The Last Stand, discover that she is a mutant, that her mutation is age slowly, that's why she appears to look like 30 in The Last Stand, since she is around 70 that time, also she between First Class and The Last Stand, left CIA and became a medical scientist and doctor.
