I haven't read any 007 novels, and I was wondering what you guys think are the best ones (including the ones not written by Ian Fleming).

I.e., what are the most significant Bond novels?

According to him, Casino Royale is decent, Goldfinger was GREAT, Live And Let Die "was ****ing TransFormers awesome", but also filled with hilarious dated racism to a very uncomfortable degree, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service...."was great".

Thunderball was also a lot of fun, but suffers the same problems as the movie in that it was full of boring underwater scenes.

Thanks.

What was your opinion of From Russia With Love?

Bump.

I just read the For Your Eyes Only short story from the book of the same name. Some very interesting passages that describe Bond's humanity quite well as well as another one that describes his raging sexuality. Very enjoyable.

Speaking of non-Fleming books, I ordered the first three of John Gardner's 'continuation' novels from the early 80s for the lump sum of £0.01. If not for postage and packaging, I'd only have to pay that much. I also ordered the Christopher Wood movie tie-in novelisations of 'The Spy who Loved Me' and 'Moonraker' from the seventies and the Die Another Day novelisation by Raymond Benson, just because I'm in that kind of mood. :p
