1. Hell's Kitchen is a mess without the Kingpin and Daredevil is working overtime. Owl has moved in as the new Kingpin kidnaps Karen somewhere in the movie. It is revealed at the end of the film that he is a mutant. Really creepy fight scene where he's flying at Daredevil and he's a pretty ugly guy.

2. Melvin Potter/Gladiator. Opening battle scene between Gladiator and Daredevil. Gladiator is doing what he's doing because his family is threatened by the new Kingpin (Owl). Murdock defends him and Potter helps him out in the end.

3. Foggy gets a hint of Murdock's double life and is doing his own investigation throughout the film. Testing his senses and asking uncomftorable questions. (Comedy)

4. Karen Page is dating Murdock and knows his secret already. She's a good hearted person but seems to have inner problems. She's occasionally useing drugs and is having trouble copeing with the fact her boyfriend is a superhero. But they are deeply in love.

5. Turk - I know Turk has been viewed as a villain but I've always thought he'd be good as Daredevil's main street informant. He tries hard to be a criminal mastermind but doesn't have the heart and relies on petty thefts that Daredevil usually foils on him. Daredevil pays him for information.

6. Ben Urich - Has become one of Matt's best friends and another informant.

7. So the cliffhanger has Karen leaving Matt, Kingpin returning, Bullseye has mysteriously disappeared from whereever he was held up at.

8. The third film is a mix between Born Again and Gaurdian Devil (but that's another story)

What do you think?

Yeah, I'm definitely in favor of the 'power vaccuum' concept from "Guardian Devil" as the basis for the second film... the Karen Page stuff? I'm a bit iffy with that. It seems like too much story to fit into a 120-minute movie.

I'd prefer DD attempting to mediate a turf war between Sano/The Yakuza and The Owl -- more like what's happening at the beginning of Powers Season 2. Cue plenty of Kill Bill style action. A bit more self-consciously campy; less brooding.

I'd retain the Mutant Growth Horomone sub-plot, but withold the revelation that it's synthesized from Owl's genes, until DD's final confrontation with Owlsley.

And, since there needs to be an Obligatory Love Interest, I would make it FBI Agent Del Toro, who is investigating rumors linking Matt to Daredevil. At first, she attempts to fake him out, get him to confess his alter-ego, but eventually she falls for him, and decides to lie to her bosses, to protect Matt's identity.

Also, for comedy relief, I would make Foggy suspect that Matt has a double life -- that he's gay, and secretly dating men. No, really.

This is actually a solidly cool idea. As a comic idea, it's not technically new, but in the film it's a very interesting take to see him fighting an uphill battle against forces he's not used to dealing with. And it'd be more convenient if Owl leaves no paper trail behind like the Kingpin supposedly does in the director's cut. Of course, this could be played up more as part of his mutant identity or something, rather than him actually being a more efficient Kingpin.

On the other hand, I'm not too hot on Karen Page being kidnapped. I generally don't see Daredevil storylines having kidnapped love interests. Most of his major foes were smart and went for killing. (Hey Sinister Six, I'm talking to you!)

Just so this element won't crowd a 120 minute film, just reduce the Gladiator character into a guy who does it because he has no choice, whether it's the threatened family element you suggested or financial desperation. Make it VERY clear that he's not just some goon, but don't give him more screen time than necessary. To "help DD out in the end" seems a little much, and might ring a little hammy in the end.

I like compound's take on this, of Foggy suspecting Matt is gay, simply because it seems like the exact kind of comic relief the Foggy that Jon Favreau played would be involved in.

I always thought Turk wasn't really a big villain so much as an informant to begin with anyway and some writers have played him up as a gag character to begin with anyway. I think a talented director would know how to balance between taking him seriously in terms of information but still making him somewhat of a joke in the criminal underworld. I think I'd write out Ben Urich because there're so many characters already and Turk can fulfill the informant role for the course of this adventure. Urich would technically be superfluous but he can be alluded to and saved for the third movie once Owl is ousted as a guy who sees the bigger picture of organized crime history.

I do like the new take on Foggy... that would be a hoot.

Karen Page I think needs to be explored. Definitely not Agent Del Toro. Sorry I'm not a fan of kick *** females in a kick *** males film. (Do we forget why this movie isn't being made... ELEKTRA).

Keep in mind this film is the Empire of my little Trilogy.

Interesting, those are some cool ideas. You know what be good having someone like Bushwacker as Owl's enforcer after Gladiator is arrested and having the Kingpin secretly helping DD against the Owl. While Kingpin is evil he managed to bring stability, while Owl is a psycho who flooding the streets with blood, so DD realizes that Kingpin is the lesser of two evils.

Jim Broadbent would make a good Owl:

Jake Busey would make a good Bushwacker:

Re: Idea for Daredevil 2.

These are good ideas, I onmly have one suggestion that would greatly improve this over the original film NO MORE BEN AFLECK, he sucks balls and is a terrible actor, I bet the only reason he got this part is because he's friends with Kevin Smith. Though I do concede that Daredevil was his best acting I've seen...ever... but the number one reason I am disgusted with him being daredevil is that the role lead him to put his demon seed in one of the most sexy woman ever, Jennifer Gardner....it sends shivers down my spine...

Calm down -- this news item is Affleck-free. According to the actor's official website, Jason Behr of "Roswell" semi-fame is being considered to slip into the red leather for a probable direct-to-video sequel.

I don't like the thread title for this. Could we merge it with Daredevil News or no?

Anyway,

Mark Steve Johnson Ready to Ride

QUESTION: Will there ever be a “Daredevil 2”?

JOHNSON: I would just love it. I wish they would. I’ve spoken really bluntly on my feelings on the movie, and I do still love the movie, even with all its flaws. But Fox, for some reason they have it in their head that “Elektra” was a sequel to “Daredevil.” I’m hoping that they’ll still go ahead with it, or if not they’ll give the rights back to Marvel, who has their own money now and can do their own thing and do it right. My dream would be to go back, reboot it and do a “Born Again” storyline. Maybe a Daredevil: Yellow, or at least a television series of Daredevil: Yellow, would be awesome. I think there are so many great stories to tell. Like I said, unfortunately I think they really thought “Elektra” would be the sequel, and it wasn’t, obviously. That was a horrible movie. [Laughs] If that movie had done well, I think the third one would have been that. I’m really hoping so. I’m sure it will, eventually. I just hope it doesn’t take too long.

DD wasn't that good to begin with. But if there was another actor and a solid script like your ideas, I'd definitely go see it.

I wish people stopped bashing Affleck for the hell of it. He didn't do anything wrong. Scripting didn't do anything wrong. Editing did a lot of things wrong.

Watch the Director's Cut.

Though the idea of revamping to make a Born Again or Yellow sounds great. Elektra was the entire problem with the first one.
