Ok so here is what this is. This is basically like dreamcasting mixed with the old ultmiation game.

What you need to come up with/remember every round:

  • Story
  • Voice actors of you're cast (Any one can do this even if they have before)
  • Type of game (action , rpg , platform ect....)
  • Gameplay - How will it work? what can you do.
  • Be realistic. E.g Don't make the game TOO big.
  • Round ends in 3 weeks (Chose 3 weeks as you need to think of more in this than some other stuff. If 3 seems too long I will end it early if it is requested)
Covers and things like that are optional.

This rounds choice : Superman! can you do what is yet to be done and create a good superman game?

Round ends October 27th 7:40 pm Eastern time ( that's 00:40 my time)

Story: Lex Luthor has kidnapped Lois Lane and is right across the street! Superman must save her!

Gameplay: Using the D-pad, you must get Superman to cross the street to Lois Lane without getting hit by the Kryptonite cars!

It's like Frogger, only with Kryptonite cars.

...

Do I win?

 So far it's the best entry

Awesome!

Story: Defeat teh bad guy (Lex Luthor / Brainiac) and save teh princess (Lois Lane).

Genre: Action / RPG

Console: Xbox 360 / PS3 / Wii / PSP / DS / PC / Mac / Super Nintendo

Gameplay: GTA gets superpowers (basically). With this game you will be able to use all of Superman's powers. There are special x-ray, telescopic, and microscopic vision modes. You can collect different suits, like the Blue Electric Suit and shtuff. One mission will allow you to play as Lois Lane with superpowers (a la Superwoman in All-Star Superman). Darkseid is in the game. Brainiac is in it. Zod is in it. Phantom Zone criminals is in it. Bizarro are in it. There's a mission where you have to defeat a criminal at the bank, or something. The graphics are pretty much the greatest-looking graphics of all time. Basically, you fly around Metropolis fighting people. And stuff. I dunno. The Fortress of Solitude is in it. It's where you keep all his costumes (like Superman's version of the Batcave).

They made this game last year and it sucked.

My thouroughly detailed entry to come...

Fine then. I change mine.

Story: In prison, Lex Luthor dies of leukemia. However, just before his death, his consciousness is transferred to Brainiac's body. Lexiac then focuses his attention on world domination, first taking out Superman by stripping him of his powers (specifically, he sends his promiscuous female bodyguard Mercy to seduce Superman, using a kryptonite condom). The kryptonite condom has a special power-stripping power. Lex Luthor proceeds to rule the world. Depressed, Superman gets a sex change and becomes a transexual stripper. By sheer coincidence, his pimp, Brucey Bruce (voiced by fan-favorite Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell), has special power-inducing "super-juice." Superman regains his powers and defeats Lex Luthor.

Genre: Transexual stripper adventure / RPG

Console: Every console ever invented

Gameplay: The first half of the game involves Superman's stripper adventures. You complete missions by earning money. The second half of the game is just like an average crappy Superman game.

Do people realise this is meant to be a serious game that you actually think about ?

Hey! I put some thought into mine!

 I wasn't complaining about yours. Yours was a joke one that was funny but then it got more retarded with the next ones when Langsta tried and failed to do one as funny.

I'll think about it over tomorrow's morning coffee.

Superman isn't an easy thing to do. I mean, he's practically invulnerable.

He's essentially so damn fast and strong that you're going to have to nerf his abilities to some degree.

One way to get around this is to build the game around scenarios that place less emphasis on 'surviving' battles and more emphasis on achieving objectives ("Pick up the bystanders! Hold up the building!")

Even then you have to strike a balance between making the players feel cheated ("If I were REALLY Superman, I could save those kids from the falling water tower AND still fly after the bank robbers!") because even those tasks should be a cakewalk, relatively.

So what happens is that such a game could easily devolve into 'abstract button tango minigames' like the kind you sometimes see in games like these. You know, 'press triangle repeatedly to hold up the building!' 'rotate the analog stick to spin a tornado' and that's perfectly fine... but I'm just not interested in that kind of game.

That's kind of why I picked that as first one. So far they have all ****ed it up. So I thought surely comic book fans who play video games could come up with something good right?
However despite how bad Superman returns is i'll give credit for 1 thing. Superman does not have health as such it's more city damage.

Not necessarily.

It's not like we're all great designers. Heck, I own books about game design from the mid eighties (Chris Crawford) to the present (Raph Koster), and I can't really figure anything out other than dissecting the core issues to be addressed in a Superman game (as opposed to actually providing solutions).

But it'd be cool to be proven wrong, though.

That is true. I just remember on every board not just this one fans of superman all had ideas how they should of fixed returns and some seemed great.

I just said Superman for this though as that way it's up to you if it's "All-star" "movies" "regular" "golden age" "timmverse" or something new. Should be fun. I look forward to seeing what people come up with as well as entering myself next round.

The problem with Superman is power set is almost impossible to translate into a game.

Weak him too weak and the game isn't true to the character (like in death of superman where punks with chain saws cold beat him up). Make him too powerful and the game becomes boring (Superman returns was just one giant escort mission with superman having to defend the city all the time, its boring). That is why it is hard for Superman work in a game. JLH Superman is likely the best in game superman ever.
