Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots

I think he looks like 50... he is a stressed man lol hunting metal gears can get you older faster and he can't have more than 60 'cause of the FOXDIE virus that will kill him eventually (assuming he still has it, but i didnt see nothing that could prove it)

And if Snake is old like that i wonder how Ocelot is... must be in a wheel chais or all metal now...

Well, he did seem to get some kind of attack during the MGS4 trailer, then he took that shot. I assumed it was a bad heart or something, but that could also be it. Who knows? I'm sure we'll find out in this game. Didn't Kojima say this was going to be the final Metal Gear game? I remember hearing or reading that somewhere but I could be wrong. But if that is true, what better way to end the series than by killing off its protagonist.

And if Snake is old like that i wonder how Ocelot is... must be in a wheel chais or all metal now...

LOL, I think Kojima's timeline said Ocelot was born in 1944, so he's going to be about 75 in this game.

Here's the link to that timeline by the way:

Official Metal Gear Timeline

Can someone give me a basic story summary of all the games? They sound interesting and I have never played one in depth.

Snake's Revenge isn't apart of the timeline because it wasn't official. Ghost babel isn't apart of the timeline because 1) Snake meets Mai Ling in Ghost Babel, BUT he says he doesn't know who she is in Metal Gear Solid and 2) The Zanzibar incedent isn't mentioned at all in Ghost Babel, but Outer Heavan is.

The biggest bunk to the theories is the Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2's "PREVIOUS STORIES" summaries both in game and in the manuals. They NEVER mention Snake's Revenge OR Ghost Babel. Plus, I think Kojima specifically said Snake's Revenge is non-canon and Ghost Babel is a side-story or Gaiden game. That and your official timeline says that those two games plus AC!D are not apart of the timeline (I could argue about AC!D, but oh well).

As for Snake being old. . .he has accelerated aging due to being a clone. That's why Solidus looked older than Solid and Liquid despite being several years younger than them.

As for Project. . .I can't even BEGIN to start. The story is so complex, that it can only be truly explained if you play the games.

I advise playing the games before reading this or at least get the comics. There is a trade collecting issues #1-6 out now and a second one collecting #7-12 coming soon. And those cover the entire 1st game. The Sons Of Liberty starts retelling the 2nd one.

Metal Gear (NES)

In 1995 he is sent on his first mission to the fortress nation Zanzibar Land, during his first mission he rescues another Fox Hound member for the first time codenamed Grey Fox, together they destroy the main fortress Outer Heaven and the Metal Gear walking battle tank, Snake is then confronted by what turns out to be his genetic father Big Boss! Who informs Snake of how he used his position to give him a greater reputation. In the battle that preceded this confrontation, Snake wins and escapes the burning remains of Outer Heaven.
In 1998 Snake retires from Fox Hound

Metal Gear 2 (NES)

In 1999 Solid Snake is called back into action by commander Roy Campbell, when Dr Kai Marv the inventor of a special chemical called Oilix, which could save the world from the fossil fuel crisis is captured and taken into Zanzibar, successfully infiltrating Outer Heaven for the second time, Snake finds out that Metal Gear had been rebuilt and Grey Fox now retired from Fox Hound had joined the mercenary corp. Battling from within Metal Gear Snake defeats him with minimal effort, but once again, snake discovers that Big Boss was the leader of the Outer Heaven.
Fighting in a minefield, Big Boss was the eventual looser and was left dying as Snake escaped.
Returning back to his retirement in Alaska of Husky Racing and Ice Fishing

Metal Gear Solid - The Twin Snakes (PS1,GC)

In 2001 Solid Snake is forced out of retirement UNDER GUN POINT! By his now retired former commander Roy Campbell, when 6 Members of Fox Hound and a Next Generation Special Forces, which have been genetically improved by gene therapy take over the small Alaskan island Shadow Moses
Snake's mission was to rescue Donald Anderson, Kenneth Baker and to find out weather or not there are any active nuclear weapons.
Once their Snake finds out that he is not the only infiltrator, after further infiltration Snake Finds Donald Anderson and Meryl Silverburgh (Roy's Niece) Snake finds out that a new Metal Gear had been constructed under the name "Rex", rather suddenly Anderson suffers from some sort of heart attack and Meryl escapes under the cover of a guard.
Snake soon finds Kenneth Baker, after blowing up a few walls!
But is confronted by the infamous Revolver Ocelot, a gun battle ensues with no winner as the result, then a mysterious Ninja appears cutting ocelots hand off, freeing Baker from the explosive straps and then confronting Snake. Suffering from a major headache the mysterious Ninja runs off, Baker then explains about the reasons behind Rex and how it can be controlled, through a PAL Key. He then suffers a heart attack blaming the government for double-crossing him. Reaching the snow field between the 2 buildings Snake is confronted by Vulcan Raven in a Tank! Through using the different grenades Snake had at his disposal he managed to defeat the driver and co pilot. Reaching the nuclear storage building Snake goes in search of a scientist called Hal Emmerich, before reaching him; Snake is confronted with a hallway filled with the corpses, of what were the guards!
Once inside the lab, Snake finds the Ninja confronting Hal Emmerich, when the Ninja realises that Snake was there, he challenged Snake to a round of combat, giving reason for the slaughter outside.
The battle ensues, with Snake soon realising that any weapon was useless, moving to hand to hand combat, the Ninja still had the advantage with his great speed and skills.
But Snakes strong point was his smarts and managed to defeat the Ninja with immense effort. Now defeated the Ninja reveals he was Grey Fox! Who had died in combat against Snake 3 years ago! Suffering another headache he runs away. Talking to Hal (Otacon) Snake finds out more information over the specifications of Rex and what happened in the uprising.
Meeting up with Meryl in the Girls Bathroom! Snake learns more over about her past and Snake receives the PAL card.
Making their way to the commander's room Meryl comes under the control of a mysterious force.
After entering the room Meryl begins to point her gun and asking for love. At which point Psycho Mantis reveals himself and begins to show off his powers to Snake. As the battle ensued Mantis was now not able to read Snakes mind for some reason and was able to dodge Snakes gunfire, using a trick Campbell had suggested, Snake was able to fight back and as a result Mantis was eventually defeated
Mantis reveals the fact that Meryl had deep feelings for Snake and that he had tortured past of nothing but evil deeds.
Carefully making his way through the caves filled with wolves, they both reach a narrow corridor, which lead to the communications tower, the only way to reach Rex, once past a small mine field, Meryl is gunned down by Sniper Wolf and Snake is forced to back track in search of a sniper rifle.
Once retrieved Snake confronts Wolf and under an immense disadvantage defeats wolf with a few shots, making his way to the towers base Snake thinks of Meryl who had been taken away and was nowhere to be seen. Once at the door Snake is caught out by a group of soldiers and Wolf, who knocks Snake unconscious.
Reawakening Snake is stretched on a metal bed, with Liquid and co in front of him, eventually Ocelot is the only one remaining, and challenges Snake to a series of torture sessions, eventually Snake manages to free himself through outside help (Otacon or Ninja depending on your skills) and retrieves his gear.
Making his way to back to the towers Snake could now climb them, unfortunately guards chase Snake all the way up! Once outside Snake is confronted by Liquid in the Hind-D and Snake is forced to descend the tower on some ropes. Dodging the gunfire and steam Snake reaches a gantry, which connected the 2 towers, once across Snake is chased inside by the Hind-D's gunfire. Descending the tower Snake finds the stairs are out and the lift was also not functioning, after talking to Otacon, Snake decides to take on the Hind-D with his newly acquired toy. In a display of reactions and skill Snake dodges the Hind D's attacks and launch consecutive stinger missiles bringing down the powerful Hind-D. With the lift now fully operational Snake was now able to reach the bottom, but not before defeating 4 stealth guards! once outside, there was a vast blizzard as Snake moved forward through the snow, but Wolf was waiting and had made her warning shot, running for cover Snake had the choice of fighting with either the Nikita or Sniper Rifle, using his good aim Wolf was finally defeated, telling of her past and how big boss had raised her. Meeting up with Otacon, Snake asks him to find out as much about the Rex project and the PAL key as he could.
Making his way down into the depths of Shadow Moses, Snake enters a cold area filled with crows! Out of the mass of crows Vulcan Raven appeared, carrying a gatling gun normally found on a fighter aircraft!, snake is forced into a battle of cat and mouse!
Running around the containers, Snake uses some good timing and luck to shoot and dodge Raven's heavy barrage. Defeated Raven reveals that Donald Anderson was actually Decoy Octopus, why this was important he didn't say but as he died he said to Snake he would always haunt him for as long as Snake battled on.
Moving through a gun filled room Snake finally reaches Metal Gear Rex, making his way over Rex towards the control room, Otacon contacts Snake over what he had found so far and about why the Rex was created.
Reaching the control room Snake finds Liquid and Ocelot discussing their plans of where to launch the first nuke.
Otacon contacts Snake over the pal key, it turns out to be 3 cards in one due to the shape memory alloy it was created from being affected by the room temperature.
Discovered by Ocelot, he shoots the card out of Snake's hand and down to the bottom of the area.
Forced back Snake eventually finds the card and makes his way back and forth inputting the different cards. Once the final card was input, the computer announced that the missiles where ready to launch, in disbelief at what he just did, Snake was contacted by Master. Thanking Snake for activating the launch codes, he reveals himself to be actually Liquid Snake and asks Snake to meet him.
Just outside Liquid is standing next to the head of Rex, he explains how Big Boss treated him, as Snake approached he jumped into Rex and the platform which Rex was standing on begins to rise.
Facing Rex as it stands up; Snake is bewildered at how he could stop this almost invincible machine, contacting Otacon Snake finds out that Rex's weakness was a radome on Rex's left shoulder. Using a combination of Chaff grenades and the Stinger launcher, Snake dodges the various attacks while disabling the radome, realising that the radome was still active, gun shoots appear out of nowhere and Snake was dragged behind a container.
Realising that it was Grey Fox, he explains how he killed Naomi's parents and raised her as a member of his family, eventually realising that their cover was blown Grey Fox reveals himself and takes on Rex but he is eventually pinned on the wall by the head of Metal Gear Rex. With what little energy he had left he takes out the radome and the cockpit was finally opened, Grey Fox then ordered Snake to kill him, but Snake was unwilling to fire, eventually Liquid drops Grey Fox to the floor and crushes him under Rex's foot.
With Grey Fox finally dead, Snake continues his battle with Rex now aiming for the cockpit. Eventually the systems that controlled Rex where destroyed and Rex fell to the ground, but in the proceeding explosion Snake is knocked unconscious.
Awakening, Snake finds himself on top of Rex without his gear, confronted by Liquid. He explains how he and Snake where created in a project called Les Enfant Terrible and how using selective breeding of over 20 embryos Snake and Liquid where created with Snake receiving the dominant genes and Liquid the recessive ones.
Liquid challenged Snake to hand to hand combat and the prizes were survival and Meryl! As Snake and Liquid fought, they where almost even, but through luck, good timing and Snake won the battle as Liquid fell from Rex's head.
Now rescued by Snake, Meryl was thankful for her rescue and said that she never stopped fighting, as she believed Snake was doing the same. They make there way back out through a conveniently placed transport route, as they made their was up the route their were a number of check points that needed clearing, once past amazingly Liquid was chasing behind armed with a famas rifle.
As Liquid chased dodging most of Snakes fire, they took pot shots at each other, eventually they reached sunlight and both vehicles topple over just before the Cliffs edge!
Finding that they were both trapped under the vehicle, Liquid appears in a terrible state and begins to raise his rifle. Then all of a sudden he feels faint as the affects of the Fox Die virus took effect and Liquid died before their eyes, questioning when he may die Naomi informs him that he should chose to enjoy life and start living. Taking this advice Snake and Meryl set off into the vast lands of Alaska.
In 2002 Snake decides to join Philanthropy an organisation set up to eradicate and expose the existence of every Metal Gear Projects in the world
Felling remorse for Naomi being locked up because of her betrayal, Snake gets Otacon to find her location and under the cover of darkness Snake sneaks into the prison where Naomi was being held and manages to rescue her safely, but secretly.

Metal Gear Solid 2 - Sons Of Liberty/Substance (PS2,XBOX)

Tanker Chapter

In 2007 Snake is informed by an anonymous lead that a new Metal Gear was been created, meeting his target on the Washington Bridge, by using the camouflage that Otacon had, Snake was able to get aboard. Questioning the security Snake hears the sound of something familiar object, out of nowhere soldiers; cover the ship sneaking up on the unsuspecting guards. Within seconds the tanker was under their control and the noise turned out to be a Russian made Kasatka and all Snake knew was that Russians had taken over the ship. Snake's mission was to find out where the tanker was going to determine the Metal Gear's status and to take photos to exposes the existence of the new Metal Gear. Reaching the lounge Snake sees a TV screen showing the new Metal Gear, Otacon saying that he couldn't get find the link to where the link was situated, reaching the control room Snake tells Otacon the navigation orders, it turns out that the new Metal Gear was combat worthy! With this Snake notices someone outside who looks very familiar, making his way outside Snake listens in on the radio communication, to find out that most of the lower areas where also under control and that Sergei Gurlukavich was the commander of this operation, but who is Shalashaska?
Once the discussion was over Snake then orders the soldier to put her hands in the air and to toss her weapons overboard, but as their was a short stop in the rain she throws a dagger directly at Snake, which Snake is able to dodge it, and so she challenges Snake to a gun duel. Using what cover they both had Snake was forced to use a Tranquilliser gun as he had not acquired any other guns yet, Snakes timing had to be just right otherwise he would have been hit, it took many hits due to her resilience but she soon collapsed to the ground. Acquiring her Usp Snake spots a flying object in the sky called a Cypher, contacting Otacon Snake finds out that the tip came from some one called E.E, which Otacon believes was his sister Emma Emmerich.
Now making his way down into the bowls of the ship, Snake reaches the engine room and sees a mysterious silhouette of what looks like Vulcan Raven! Carefully looking round the corner Snake finds that it was actually a small figure! Once on the other side of the room Snake is confronted by a string of infrared sensors linked to explosives, with Otacon's help Snake finds the control boxes were week to live ammo, using the acquired Usp Snake takes out all the sensors, making his way round the holding areas Snake, notices the noise of a door opening, hiding away a group of 4 soldiers come out of the hold, the squad leader contacts Sergie, who asks them to look after Olga.
Using the tranquilliser gun Snake takes out the guards, reaching the holding area. Snake could listen in on the speech from Commander Scott Dolph, who tells of how this great Metal Gear Ray will help eradicate the world's Metal Gears, he tells of how he doesn't want his daughter involved in war and how the Navy was also creating a Metal Gear.
Reaching Ray, Snake is amazed at the new design; Otacon then informs Snake that they need 4 pictures of the Ray 3 from different sides and a close up of the Marine's insignia, inputting the pictures into a local computer Otacon is happy with the results, with the lecture endings Snake watches from the back, as the sound of clapping appears from the back of the room, announcing himself as "Shalashaka also known as Revolver Ocelot" saying it would be quite useful and that he was taking it back.
Out of nowhere Sergie places a gun to Scott's head and then all of the Russian guards appear pointing their guns at the soldiers watching the speech, Ocelot then shows a detonator in his hands and announces that it was linked to explosives in key structural points of the ship, as Scott asks Sergei why they wanted Ray, Ocelot laughs and announces that Ray was in fact being returned to The Patriots! As Sergei pointed his gun at Ocelot he pulls off his Jacket, fires 2 shoots, which kill both Sergei and Scott instantly, as the Russian Soldiers moved in Ocelot pulls out his other gun and kills a further 6 soldiers.
Now making his way to the head of Ray all the firing from the troops seem to miss Ocelot and as he enters Snake reveals himself shooting "Ocelot!", then all of a sudden a mysterious force takes over Ocelot, the person called him brother and comments on how they have both aged, Snake asks who he was and he replies "don't you know me" Snake realises that it was Liquid, but didn't he die?
With this he enters Ray and rips the ship in two in an attempt to escape, floating in the water Snake watches as Ray swims away from the chaos that had been created.
With luck Snake is rescued by Otacon in the pre-planned boat and manages to save some of the Russian Unit from drowning.
Placing the truth on the web they find that Snake and Otacon were denounced as World Terrorists and placed on most wanted,
Forced to hide out Snake finds out that an oil plant was being constructed in the place were the tanker had sunk.

Plant Chapter

Infiltrating the plant through the underwater investigation area (Strut A) Snake takes out the guards posted with little effort and makes his way up the elevator.
Reaching Strut B Snake notices a group of Special Alpha troops, sneaking up on the rear member he quietly takes out the guard to borrow his clothing, as Snake still wanted to be regarded as dead! Listening as the team he had followed were killed he finds a figure being attacked by Vamp, noticing Snake, Vamp takes him to the wall and as inspects him, Vamp realises who he was, and takes off to tell his "Queen!"
Taking to this stranger he finds out he is a member of Fox Hound, his former unit code named Raiden, Snake calls himself Lieutenant Iriqui Pliskin (Junior Grade), suffering from a wound Snake takes a rest and offers Raiden his smokes, Snake then takes a nap and awakes to find Raiden gone, making his way to Strut C Snake finds Raiden with a bomb disposal expert called Peter Stillman, he explains that their should be explosives on every strut, Snake vouched to do Shell 2, using his trusty cardboard boxes for cover! Snake makes his way to Shell 2, carefully taking out each of the hidden explosives, contacted by stillman before diffusing the last explosive, Stillman found that their was a high quantity of explosives planted on the base of strut F, as Snake defused the last bomb, the bomb in front of Stillman activated, Planning his trust in Raiden's skills Snake went off to where the Kasatka's were based and with Otacon's help sabotaged the other Kasatka, making their way back to Shell 1 they see Raiden and a mysterious man claiming to be Solid Snake on the bridge, snake shoots "that is not Solid Snake".
Now firing at the mysterious figure he manages to dodge all of Snakes attacks, on Snakes last attempt the mysterious man is knocked off, but it turns out he was landing on a Harrier Jump Jet hiding below, knowing they were vulnerable Snake tosses a Stinger Missile Launcher to Raiden to help take out the Jet, After Raiden successfully destroyed the harrier, a mysterious silhouette appeared below the waves, it was Ray! Capturing the harrier, Vamp runs off across the water and Ray takes the Harrier and the mysterious man bellow the waves. Snake and then Otacon continue their way to Shell 1 and begin to collect the hostages, Snake is then contacted by Raiden over the Existence of Arsenal Gear and that the President had been killed by Ocelot, however Snake knew about Arsenal and asked Raiden to rescue Emma Emmerich who was been held in the core of shell 2.
Once Raiden had collected Emma he put her through to Otacon, who had a long argument over their past life, Snake ordered Raiden to get to the Computer room in Shell 1.
While in the computer room Snake was confronted by someone dressed like a Ninja, it shows herself to be Olga, Snake then fights with her and they found each other to be an even match, talking to each other in the aftermath Olga finds out that Snake had rescued her and some of her comrades from the sinking tanker, Raiden then contacts Snake for some support while they cross the Oil Fence, making his way to the other side Snake offers his assistance, out of nowhere Vamp captures Emma and holds her hostage, Raiden being in a better position takes the shots, when Vamp was eventually killed Snake goes to check on Emma, sadly she had been stabbed and orders Raiden to get to the Computer Room as soon as possible, carrying Emma back to the computer room, Otacon tries his best to stop the bleeding as Emma preps the computer ready for the disk, when Raiden arrived the disk was inputted and the virus input into GW, at about 80% something happened and the computer shut down. Watching as Emma died in Otacons arms Snake tries to calm the situation saying that Arsenal still needed to be stopped and Otacon was the only one who could save the hostages. As Otacon left to get the hostages an announcement was made that the plant was about to sink, Snake then asks for Olga to come out of hiding, revealing herself to Raiden for the first time she knocks Raiden out. Using this advantage Snake uses the now fixed stealth gear to ride down the elevator to Arsenal with Olga now out of the Ninja suit.
Waiting patiently for Raiden's arrival Snake looks curiously at the blade and uses the time to have a shave! When Raiden eventually arrived he was stark naked, but with the gear that Snake was looking after he sorted himself out, Snake then handed Raiden the blade and allowed him some time to practice using it, making their way towards the core of Arsenal snake and Raiden are spotted by a camera Cypher which alerts tengu soldiers to their position. Battling side by side they both dodge and block the attacks of what seem like an infinite number of guards.
Eventually all the guards where defeated Fortune appeared from the room behind, claiming that Snake had killed her father and challenges Snake, ordering Raiden to move on but unfortunately Snake is unable to defeat her incredible powers and he is captured, dragged by Fortune, Snake is dragged to Solidus Snake as she asks for their next orders. Knocked out Snake awakens to find himself a top arsenal gears back, with Solidus Questioning Raiden for information over The Patriots, then Ocelot begins to laugh! Solidus questioning why he was laughing explains that this entire incident was set up by The Patriots to create another Solid Snake called the S3 plan, after shooting Fortune, Ocelot leaps into Ray as Solidus unleashed a missile barrage, which missed him completely, raising his swords Solidus deflects all the bullets that ray fires one deflects and hits Snakes handcuffs, realising he could get free Snake tries to struggle out of the cuffs as Ray unleashes a missile barrage at Fortune, amazingly she uses her psychic powers and pushes away the missiles.
As Ocelot announced their end Snake shoots "Stop!" and the mysterious force takes over Ocelots body once more, declaring "Brothers" he tells the reasons for Ocelots body and how he plans to eliminate The Patriots himself, taunting Snake to follow, Snake finally manages to break from his cuffs and he leaps into the sea after the Ray just in time to attach the homing beacon.
Contacting Otacon, Snake manages to get a lift to where Arsenal had crashed into
Manhattan harbour, finding Solidus Falling from Federal Hall.
As Raiden question who he really is Snake confronts him, telling him how he is the one who chooses who he is going to be and what he decides to pass on, with seeing a friend of Raiden's staring, Snake decides to walk off.
Contacting Otacon over the contents of the Optical Disk, Snake finds out that all the patriots were in Manhattan and have been dead for over 100 years! The most bizarre fact being that one of the patriots was one of Philanthropy's biggest Donators.

Snake's Revenge isn't apart of the timeline because it wasn't official.

I know it's been excised by Hideo because he had nothing to do with it, and it wasn't anywhere near as good as the other games, but so what? Hideo has said since Solid that he wouldn't be returning for anymore Metal Gear games, but due to fan requests he ends up every time. But had he not returned, would that mean MGS2 and 3 wouldn't have "counted", just because he didn't work on them? I prefer to keep it in the timeline, being a completist and all. And since it doesn't contradict anything, works even better. Just because it isn't mentioned in the manuals of later games isn't enough reason not to include it to me.

Ghost babel isn't apart of the timeline because 1) Snake meets Mai Ling in Ghost Babel, BUT he says he doesn't know who she is in Metal Gear Solid

Maybe he forgot? ;)

and 2) The Zanzibar incedent isn't mentioned at all in Ghost Babel, but Outer Heavan is.

That doesn't necessarily mean it shouldn't be included.

The biggest bunk to the theories is the Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2's "PREVIOUS STORIES" summaries both in game and in the manuals. They NEVER mention Snake's Revenge OR Ghost Babel.

In Ghost Babel's case thats because MGS came out like 6 or 7 years beforehand. MGS2 came out around the same time as Ghost Babel, so that might also be why.

Plus, I think Kojima specifically said Snake's Revenge is non-canon and Ghost Babel is a side-story or Gaiden game. That and your official timeline says that those two games plus AC!D are not apart of the timeline (I could argue about AC!D, but oh well).

Thats not what it said. Its says, and I quote: "Note: Snakes Revenge, Metal Gear : Ghost Babel and Metal Gear Ac!d are not included because they are not related to the actual Metal Gear Universe Kojima has used, in this great saga."

This can be taken several ways. You could say they should be ignored, or they are side stories, as you said. But if its a side story, that means it just doesn't affect the main plotline running through MG and MGS games, hence "side-story". Doesn't mean it shouldn't be included.

As for Snake being old. . .he has accelerated aging due to being a clone. That's why Solidus looked older than Solid and Liquid despite being several years younger than them.

I thought Solidus was born at the same time as Liquid and Solid. Hence the Les Enfants Terribles, or Terrible Infants. Even that official timeline states they were all born in 1971...I suppose its possible he could have been born a few months after them, but not several years. At least according to that timeline, and that is the official timeline, officiality being so important to you and all. ;)

As for Project. . .I can't even BEGIN to start. The story is so complex, that it can only be truly explained if you play the games.

I haven't even played the majority of the MG games and I can attest to that. This is one of those series that keeps you on the edge of your seat while playing, just due to all the plot twists and action.

I read this on the official timeline.

That Ocelot is the son of The Boss and The Sorrow

I never heard that anywhere unless it was in Acid.

Yeah that was news to me too. But its the "official" timeline on Kojima's own site, so I assume its true. Is it possible it was mentioned in MGS3? I haven't played that one yet so I don't know.

In honor of this news, a repost of the Metal Gear series timeline.

Metal Gear Solid 3 - Subsistence 1964 (PS2)
Metal Gear 1995 (NES)
Metal Gear - Snake's Revenge 1997 (NES)
Metal Gear 2 - Solid Snake 1999 (MSX)
Metal Gear Solid - Ghost Babel 2002 (GBC)
Metal Gear Solid - The Twin Snakes 2005 (GC)
Metal Gear Solid 2 - Substance 2007-2009 (PS2)
Metal Gear Acid 2016 (PSP)
Metal Gear Acid 2 2017 (PSP)
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Guns of the Patriots 2019 (PS3)

Where's the PS1 MGS?

I guess it's pointless to argue with you, Irish. Both of us have different view points. I use the official timeline, you use the complete timeline. To each their own, I suppose. I used to be like you, until I started my Zelda timeline. And I REFUSED to put those CD-i games in my timeline, so I went from "Complete" to "Official" when doing my timelines.

My Timeline?

Metal Gear Solid 3: Substinance - 1964
Metal Gear - 1995
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake - 1999
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - 2005
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - 2007/2009
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - 2019?
-
Metal Gear: Ghost Babel - 2002
Metal Gear AC!D - 2016
Metal Gear AC!D 2- 2017

Ghost Babel and the AC!D games are side stories (Or, in my own words, good games that take place in an alternate timeline). MGS for PS1, MGS2: Sons of Liberty and MGS3: Snake Eater are the incomplete versions in my mind (Despite MGS for PS1 having some things better than Twin Snakes, like the voice acting), so I keep them off that one. Snake's Revenge. . .well, I explained my disdain for that already.

As for Solidus, it's been awhile since I played MGS2, but I DO know he was the youngest at LEAST by a few months. The reason he looks older (Indeed, why Solid looks older in MGS4) is because Big Boss' genes had worn thin by Solidus, and copies are never as good as the originals (To explain Solid).

And Ocelot's parents are mentioned in MGS3. It adds a lot of depth to Ocelot and Solid's relationship. Play MGS3. Not the best in the series, but it's still an amazing game.

Metal Gear Solid (PS1) and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes (GC) are basically the same game. The GC game was just updated with some better graphics and a few other things...Irish could probably give you the specifics.

So why do you call it that when the title is SNAKE EATER?

Easy. Metal Gear Solid 3: Substinance is the special edition of Snake Eater. It comes with bonuses such as the ORIGINAl Metal Gear 1 and 2, Online Multiplayer, and new camo paints. It's basically like when they re-released MGS2: Sons of Liberty with a bunch of extra stuff as MGS2: Substance. MGS3: Substinance will be released in November, along with MGA2.

Metal Gear Solid (PS1) and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes (GC) are basically the same game. The GC game was just updated with some better graphics and a few other things...Irish could probably give you the specifics.

New cutscenes, updated graphics, new voice overs. Twin Snakes also added the first person view from MGS2 and lockers, which you could hide in (Or hide enemies' bodies in) were also added to various areas in game. This ultimatley made Twin Snakes quite a bit easier then PS1 MGS.

I know that. Im just wondering why he doesnt use "Snake Easter" instead.

Personal preference, I guess. Same reason not many say 'Sons of Liberty' anymore. They say 'Substance'. It's the definitive version.

I disagree with you, best game ever, i didn't like that much the first MGS and MGS2 just have one problem...the play time with sanke, it should be bigger

I understand MGS2, Raiden wasn't nearly as awesome as Snake (Even though I like Raiden). . .but what didn't you like about the first one? That's one of my favorite games of all time!

The Twin Snakes...its the Gamecube version of MGS with MGS2 level graphics and the story was minorly expanded. Thats the only reason I include it over the original.

Personal preference, I guess. Same reason not many say 'Sons of Liberty' anymore. They say 'Substance'. It's the definitive version.

Exactly. And like Lynx said, its the definitive version, and flows better since the updated versions of both MGS 1 and 2 are also included, so why not the 3rd?
