I thought someone already listed it but didn't see it on the list (very helpful by the way) - hopefully I didn't just miss it.
Tarantino's best, smartest, and most engaging film - few films have stronger, more interesting characters. The intertwining, non-linear stories were done perfectly.

Correct. For some reason I thought there was a third one posted. I think it's because Brazil was really high up on DSF's Top-100 and I was thinking about posting it soon. Anyway, fixed. Scorcese's leading with three.

Not only is it the Best Picture winner of 1999 (arguably the best year of movies of all time) but it is a crowning achievement in film. A story of the last year of a man's life before his unexpected death, Lester Burnham and his family are awakened from their dull lives when 3 different people are introduced into their world. These people and the new problems in their daily lives around them change their destinies forever in a tale filled with red color filters, floating plastic bags, and a beautiful script by Six Feet Under's Alan Ball. A soon to be classic.

The best Don Bluth movie, the Secret of Nimh is a classic heroes tale, but with the heroes being rats. Its the first movie I remember where the hero was female as well. I miss animation styles like this, it's something the computer generation can't achieve.

After the epic that was Boogie Nights, Paul Thomas Anderson withdrew from the world and started writing a film that would be "intimate and small-scale." This film grew and grew and eventually became this masterpiece. A great cast (Tom Cruise, Philip Baker Hall, Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, Julianne Moore, John C. Reilly etc.), a beautiful soundtrack by Aimee Mann and one of the most magnificent sequences I have ever seen: "Wise Up." Magnolia is one of those films that I can watch over and over and see new things and it's one that never fails to inspire me.

#57. Rocky (1976) I'm surprised this movie hasn't been introduced. I know the whole saga is great, but about four of the films are just so great as stand alone's and the first film is quite possibly THE best underdog story ever made. Starring Sylvester Stallone in his first major role. He penned the script himself and wanted to act as Rocky and, against the studio's wishes, was able to fulfill his role as Rocky.

Russell Crowe's career launching role as Maximus, a Roman general turned gladiator, out for revenge against the corrupt Emperor Commodus. Joaquin Phoenix is fantastic as well, as Commodus. By far one of my favorite performances from one of my favorite actors. There are few movies that I can watch over and over again. This is one of them.

The first time I saw this movie I was in the 8th grade and I was completely blown away. A very powerful movie and definitely one of the best movies made to date.
