The Boys (TV Series) - Timeline

Actually its not that I'm bored but Gen V overall is just concerned with showing humanity at its worst, building a story around little meaningless moments of people like Rufus being human trash and it depresses the fuck outta me.

Also the Karen bitch with the stinger and the constant grossout jokes are CW The Flash level cringe. I bet this is all Seth Rogen's input.
No need to sell it to me, I'm already sold

Gen V 2x03 takes place primarily on Wednesday, since when they are talking about sabotaging some statues with spray paint, etc, "Tomorrow" (Thursday, technically) is mentioned THEN "Friday", so Friday is two days away at that point.

Enjoying Gen V S2 so far. Emma and Cipher have been the highlight for me and the Thor Love and Thunder bit was funny.

Also bee lady is out of pocket and she reminds me of Ashley if she didn't have a soul.

Big thanks to this thread too, because I'd still be thinking the gap between seasons was real-time without it
Thats what the Wiki wants you to think when clearly their reasoning is impossible even if aren't paying attention to the time spans.

"60th Anniversary of Godolkin University"

58 years actually, give or take. The populace in this world run on mega-stupid and short-term-memory so not a surprise that Cipher could have capitalized on that.

TBF, when the shows keep treating themselves like they're real time and continuously feature the year the season's released, you really can't blame them.

At this rate, Vought or Earth-Boys incompetancy is enough reasoning for me to ignore some things.

Still it's sad you have to do that kind of stretching though. I get they know most people don't care about the timeline, but it's still pretty lazy to not be consistent.

So far, there's nothing so damaging where it can't be stretched (ex. nothing yet like "It's 2025, Emma. Keep up the times.")

If we get something in Gen V s2 that undoubtably says "2025" ...that's really bad.

We do have the 2024 stuff in The Boys S4 and rewatching Gen V S1 before S2 I noticed some for 2023. The thing is no matter what, Gen V S1 has to be the same year as The Boys S4 since Gen V S2 is picking up the following school year.

But was it overt?

I feel it was overt enough to where it's clearly how they believed the placement of the season was. I agree it should be ignored since it doesn't line up, but I still feel it's intentional on their end. Like with S4 I completely get believing the election in the show was meant to mirror the actual 2024 Presidential election.

I also recall they kinda flip flopped on Ryan Butcher being "10" or "12" but then Billy's old war buddy in his head later gives a more accurate estimate to the year before Homelander assaulted Billy's wife, which IIRC he said "11 years ago".

And the fact the Vought YT videos with the current year in the title don't mention the actual year in the video itself shows the showrunners might tiptoeing a line between "real time" and "continuity-based time".

That said, S1 is 100% set in 2020 because that is overtly shown as Translucent's death year.
