The Complaining About Life Thread

My second ferret died last night, as I just woke up to find out. It was the female one of the group. The only "good" thing I can say is she likely died in her sleep as she didn't go through the pain the first one did. But it doesn't help to find her the way I did, though. Now I'm having trouble going back to sleep.

That's terrible - I'm sorry to hear that.

So, today, as I picked up my laptop to put it into my bag, I forgot that the external harddrive was plugged in and it dropped onto the floor from the desk.

When I got home, I plugged it in and it worked... until I tried to save something to it and then it just died on me. So now it is in the freezer for the next two hours, and then the fridge over night in the hopes that tomorrow morning it will last long enough for me to be able to transfer stuff off of it.

Yay.

Oh dear god why didn't i see this sooner.

NEVER, EVER put your hard drive in the freezer or fridge. Water droplets will crystallize inside it and on the platters and can potentially annihilate the platters. I assume it is in an enclosure? Did you try taking the drive out of it and plugging it in directly?
(Just so you know, I am working as an engineer in a data recovery company, I have seen so many people **** up their hard drives doing that. If anyone has a problem like this send me a message.)

It's like when you drop a cellphone into a puddle. Immediately take out the battery, and leave the cellphone alone for a couple days in sunshine so all the water evaporates.

Then it will work fine.

Water inside a HDD can quite easily kill it, we get a lot of them in our lab. Splashing it on it is normally ok, but freezing it, or submerging it in water will seriously affect the platters. It might work briefly but it will cause damage.

I have a lot of friends and acquaintances who are musicians trying to make a real career out of it and always plugging their stuff, trying to get me to come to shows, etc. One in particular seems like they're actually starting to get some success. But all their music, in all their different genres and styles, from all of them, sucks. And it's not like I can say anything or I'll either lose credibility as a non-******* or face the dreaded, bulletproof "Well it's not like YOU're out there making music". Sometimes it's better not to take the shot than miss. Your stuff is terrible, and you sound like an idiot singing it! If I came and saw you do it live, I'd never be able to look you in the face again! You SUCK. **** YOU! AH! There.

Well, I found out that even in your thirties you feet can still grow. Now I have to buy size 14 wide. I had to go to five different stores before I found a pair my size. I'm going to have to start buying my shoes online just to save on gas money now.

Third ferret died yesterday, but wasn't told until 5 minutes ago. Not as depressed as before since I saw the signs coming of old age.

Still hurts, though. Especially since one loved everyone. He always liked to give kisses.

Goddamit. I came in here to complain about something and here's Ice with a dead pet. I'm sorry, Ice. I'm just a bit annoyed at the moment with a troll elsewhere, you have real **** to deal with.

I got mauled by a dog yesterday. Was trying to save the neighbor's cat that a stray Pit Bull mix was attacking. The dog turned on me and gnawed on my right forearm, got a bunch of stitches, and now waiting for the results of the rabies test.

The sad news, Red (the neighbor's cat) had to be put down because of his injuries. I'm planning on taking my neighbor to the ASPCA to let her pick out a new kitty.

Did you say on Twitter they had to put the dog down?

Very cool of you to help your friend find another cat.

it makes me wonder what kind of owner the dog had. I have a pitbull/bull mastiff mix and she's the friendliest dog I've ever had. She'd greet a robber and probably escort him to his getaway vehicle if given the opportunity. Although it's not hard to imagine since pitbulls usually get a bad rep and of all the ones to find at my local shelter, it always seems like one in particular is being held as evidence in a criminal case.

I've been attacked by pitbulls before, and my girlfriend's dog actually had to fight off the same pair a week later.

It's definitely the owner's fault on how aggressive they turn out to be.

Pitbulls do have a natural aggression. And can be more vicious in their attacks. Which is why most people that hold dog fights buy those dogs over others. Dogs are still animals and can often can mistake our actions as aggression. But most of the time it is the owners falt if it attacks a person.

But then again you are pure evil. It probably felt you deserved a bit or two.

Totally understand and agree. This one, according to the ASPCA officer, had the telltale scars of fighting. Which only made me more angry.

*nod* definitely. No dog (or cats) is born aggressive, they're conditioned by their humans to be that way.

I 100% blame the dog's previous owner.

+1 Not only is he evil, he's scientifically proven to be evil.

Yeah, to test for rabies, they have to dissect the brain. Or so I've been told.

Also; Good news everybody! The dog was chipped, to the local police and ASPCA are tracking down its owner. Still no word on the rabies thing tho -.-

Hopefully they registered the dog so the chip actually has info on it. if it was a rescue, at least here, you do all that on you're own once the shelter gives you the dog. I haven't even done it for my dog yet. but the chip is in there....waiting.

YAY! More good news! I don't have Rabies!!

Also, apparently the chip was registered, and the guy it belongs to has a long history of ASPCA/Police calls, about his dogs. They're investigating and possibly going to press charges.

Great news on both accounts.

Time for a fun one.

I have met the perfect girl. Attractive, funny, smart, a comic book fan, warcraft player and general all round geek. She is amazing and for some reason she is into me as well. We fell for each other really quick and got together. yay Lovebuttmonkey!
Then my old friend Fate slaps me in the face with his dick.
She has a big family crisis and due to this has had to move indefinitely to Texas, with her dad. Meaning we are like 6000 miles apart with a 6 hour time difference. We are staying together, but its bloody hard.

Dear God life changes quick....
Broke up with this girl about a year or so after this post.
Stayed single until 2015, where I met another girl, we moved in together, got pets together, got engaged and got married last year. Then she nailed a junkie behind my back. So now I'm sorting out the divorce.

Oh and the original girl from this post? Shes a dude now.
