Timeline Hub

Not sure if the Video Game Adaptations of Two Towers and Return of the King add enough new stuff to include them, does anyone know?

RoboCop is definitely set in 1990-1991, by the way.

1. A TV spot places it in 1991.

2. RoboCop: Prime Directives places Alex Murphy's "death" in 1990.

Since we know that the movie progresses into the following year, this is actually a pretty solid timeline. As a result, the second film is 1992, the third film is sometime in the 1990s, the Prime Directives show is set in 2001, ten years after the creation of RoboCop, and the upcoming game is set between RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3.

The announced Dick Jones TV series would be a prequel set before the original film (assuming it's still happening), and RoboCop Returns is set at least after the original film, although it could be a different timeline beyond that (assuming it's still happening).

As for comics, most of them seem to be alternate timelines. The Marvel Comics series is set between RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3, but it has some anachronisms in it and one of the covers places Murphy's death in 2015. Ignoring that, I guess it's fine. The Dark Horse series is a direct continuation of RoboCop 3, so it works fine in the original timeline.

1991 - RoboCop
1992 - RoboCop 2
1992 - RoboCop Vol. 1 #1-23
1993 - RoboCop: Rogue City
1994 - RoboCop 3
1995 - RoboCop versus The Terminator #1-4
1995 - Dark Horse Comics #1-3, "RoboCop: Part 1-3"
1995 - RoboCop: Prime Suspect #1-4
1995 - Dark Horse Comics #6-9, "RoboCop: Invasions: Part 1-4"
1995 - RoboCop: Mortal Coils #1-4
1995 - RoboCop: Roulette #1-4
2001 - RoboCop: Prime Directives 1x01-1x04

Okay, according to the RoboCop wiki regarding The first movie's placement, quoting quote for quote:
  • Edward Neumeier has stated that he and Michael Miner never placed the film in a specific year. However, other materials in the franchise have stated different years for the film's setting:
    • A PMH (Pinedale Memorial Hospital) badge prop from the production contains an expiration date of 09/27.
    • A TV spot from the film's original release places the film in 1991.
    • The novelization indicates that it takes place over the course of November 2043 to February 2044.
    • The cover of the Marvel Comic "TV Crimes" places Murphy's death in 2015.
    • RoboCop: Prime Directives – which is set in 2000 – places Murphy's death in 1990.
    • The remake takes place in 2028.

Also there is a reason (inconsistances, continuity errors, retcons, etc...) for why Other Games, Novels, the other comics and other Series aren't canon?

A lot of them are explicitly alternate sequels or alternate tellings or parallel universes. I'm aware of the existing dates for the series, but if it's placed in a specific year 1990-1991 is definitely the best.

This suggestion might be a little unconventional but has anybody thought of doing a timeline thread for standalone IP films?

I've always been interested in the Cloverfield Universe (or multiverse as theorised - the ARG material connects them though so IDK), but I have no idea how that would even be listed due to the ARG material. It'd be cool though.

It's essentially an anthology series where the monsters exist in the world due to events in the future opening up cracks throughout time and space.

2008 - Cloverfield
2016 - 10 Cloverfield Lane
202? - Cloverfield 2** (????, 202?)
2030 - The Cloverfield Paradox

I think the Light Blue format fits better for godzilla.

Karate Kid (2010) is now canon, despite statements otherwise during Cobra Kai's television run. Makes me think that the cartoon could be canon as well, since the series has an easter egg towards it despite them saying it's not. Then we'd have a big universe on our hands, containing 5 films and 2 TV shows.

1984 - The Karate Kid (1984)
1985 - The Karate Kid: Part II
1985 - The Karate Kid: Part III
1989 - The Karate Kid 1x01-1x13
1992 - The Next Karate Kid
2008 - The Karate Kid (2010)
2017 - Cobra Kai 1x01-1x10
2018 - Cobra Kai 2x01-2x10
2018 - Cobra Kai 3x01-3x10
2019 - Cobra Kai 4x01-4x10
2019 - Cobra Kai 5x01-5x10
2024 - The Karate Kid 2

1954
Godzilla (1954)

1998
GODZILLA (1998)

2001
Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
They canonised '98 to their one-off universe just so that they could call Zilla a fraud in-universe. What an absolute W for the franchise.

I take Godzilla: The Series as canon to that timeline. Just feels redundant otherwise.

Got a timeline planned very soon. A sweet, but simple timeline, since only two games and a couple of tie-in comics. But before we begin, here's four questions to ponder. (Kudos if you get what timeline I'll be doing.)
  1. Do you like hurting other people?
  2. Who are leaving messages on your answering machine?
  3. Where are you right now?
  4. And the final question: Why are we having this conversation?
;P

I know what franchise is. Not because I have played, but because I have the power of internet and searched "Who are leaving messages on your answering machine?" on google.

Thread is live.
