those exist in the comic as wellWhat about stuff like the cars though? They are all retro futuristic and what not in 1985 but in 2019 they resemble what we have today
The technological luddism spawning from the new York disaster is a major plot point of the showI know that but regular 80s cars didn't exist in the Watchmen universe why wouldn't they carry on the car designs into 2019 unless it's a Fallout situation where they used real life cars in the show but in the games they are fictional
So I watched and I wouldn't personally use it as background for the TV show unless I can't be bothered reading the comicIs it a 1:1 comic adaptation?
What deviations are their? So I watched and I wouldn't personally use it as background for the TV show unless I can't be bothered reading the comic
They explicitly said the comic was canon to the show and there's more than enough deviations to disqualify it, especially part 2.
Is good tho, don't understand the hate I've seen for it on socials
Top of my head:What deviations are their?
I compare examples like this to the Ahsoka novel vs. the final episode of The Clone Wars revival in Star Wars Canon.Top of my head:
The scene where Hollis comes by knowing about the tenement fire save should be one of the detectives from Blake's murder who warns him to leave his return at that.
The cops come pretty soon after when they shouldn't come back until after the prison break
Actually the whole bit where Nite Owl threatens to blow up the block to the guys in the bar when he finds out Hollis is dead isn't in it at all and he just freaks out extra hard at Rorschach in the 'sorry I'm a bad friend' scene when he finds out then instead
A lot of info and lines from the supplemental material is crammed into scenes
The psychiatric interview scene was compressed
There's some more but you get my point. Most of the changes were clearly just for pacing purposes for a two parter and adapting to a different medium but it results in enough deviations from the comic to not be called canon to the show
However I enjoyed it like I do most of these adaptations and it's serviceable if you or someone else can't be bothered reading the comic but want something more accurate than the Snyder movie before watching the series, because it is pretty faithful
I'd agree if we had anyone from the show saying this was canon but they were pretty clear that it was a direct continuation of the comicI compare examples like this to the Ahsoka novel vs. the final episode of The Clone Wars revival in Star Wars Canon.
It's not "contradictory" as it is, how you also said, "condensed". Malleable but not incompatible.
A one-off comic The Multiversity: Pax American from 2014 explores what that might look like, set on Earth-4.Do you guys think it's possible that the members of the Watchmen are just variants of the Charlton characters they are based on?

It's been a long time since I read Doomsday Clock, but I recall completely different fates for several characters like Doctor Manhattan as well as the consequences of Rorschach's journal.Reasons why?

Well... ****. That might work.Travis di Taxi Driver appare in Before Watchmen, ambientato nel 1977. Taxi Driver è ambientato nel 1976. Ho una domanda: ci sono riferimenti a Before Watchmen in Doomsday Clock?
Hm. Phuck this "****" censorship, man.Well... ****. That might work.
Yeah, it's pretty annoying.Hm. Phuck this "****" censorship, man.
I do like the idea that Taxi Driver could exist in the Watchmen reality. Very much not something either Moore or Scorsese would agree with, but, well, either way, I think it's kinda cool.Travis di Taxi Driver appare in Before Watchmen, ambientato nel 1977.
