Who has read this?

Thoughts?

I've flipped through this numerous times @ Borders.

It seems to be an interesting and enjoyable read... I especially like Quitely's art here.

I've heard it's overrated.

Great minds think alike, I just re-read this yesterday.

It was good, but not excellent. I enjoyed alot of the depth given to earth 1 (The anti-matter earth) thanks to Morrisons exploration of the flipped Gotham and journalistic changes. As usual I was Lukewarm to quietlys artwork (Everyone is so chunky) but didn't mind it atall by the end. And of course Luthor was a badass.

A good read, a must if you're reading Morrison's JLA.

Yeah, it's quite good. Quitely's wonderful.

The main problem with the story is that you expect to see the CSA fight the JLA.

That never happens.

Aquaman and Martian Manhunter do take on the CSA, but Batman never takes on Owlman, and because of that, it's lacking.

It's good, but it's not the "event" it looks like.

But the explanation why is pretty clever. I preferred it actually.

Never read this, but Busiek's follow-up CSA arc in JLA was absolute crap.

Busiek is no Morrison.

And it didn't really seem like the kind of story that needed to be followed up on...:?

The CSA were attacking the DCU heroes. Thats the gist of it.

Well then I believe you that it was crap, because one of the most interesting points about Earth 2 was that the CSA *couldn't* fight the JLA (or anyone else).

He changed that. It was bad. Beyond bad.

best JLA story was Rock of Ages, but I love Earth 2...

Owlman has intrigued me for such a long time...

He is the son of Thomas and Martha from a world where his brother bruce and his mother were gunned down by one of the corrupt cops in his father's force... Thomas Jr. went crazy for a while, and disapeared, probably to become a drunk. Then one day he figures out he wants to fight his father's justice, but he's too lazy, so he uses drugs and brain enhancers and steriods and all that stuff to become stronger and faster than the cops.

Then he took over the Gotham Underworld.

The best part of the Busiek arc was the hint at Robin. Owlman kills Jack Drake for not paying debt, and takes his son as debt.

Owlman owns a kid. Does that not terrify you?

Owlman is also just as smart as Batman... he just got to that point in the least respectable way.

The other heroes intrigue me too...

Ultraman was an ******* military dumb**** who became an astronaut and nearly died in an explosion. He was put back together by anti-kryptonians and Anti-Kryptonite is the thing that keeps him strong and alive.

I get the idea that Superwoman was an amazon who killed Clark Kent's wife and took her place. She is Lois Lane.

Johnny Quick created an opiate-like serum from the blood of the first Johnny Quick, from which he gets his speed powers.

Power Ring has an intelligent power ring that seems to be run by fear, possibly the anti-matter universe's parallax... Under the guise of a Monk.

...

The only real hero of the world is Lex Luthor, but there are others who try, like (my personal favorite) The Quizmaster, the smartest Man Alive (think: the good guy Riddler).

I got this today. It was fantastic. Best JLA story by far.
I don't think I would go that far.

I didn't really like Quitely's artwork (looking at it that is in the AS-S preview), until I actually read AS Superman, I don't know why, but it just seems to fit Morrison's writing.

Morrison and Quitely work very well together. Much like Millar and Hitch or Azzarello and Risso, to use recent examples.

Yeah, I don't know what I would think of Quitely's art outside of a Morrison story.

I read this last night. It was great.

I both love and hate Quitely's art. I respect in an iconic-like way, but hate the way it looks... :?

The story was fun. I loved how Aquaman and Martian Manhunter took on the CSA on their own. It showed how they can be the two most powerful members.

Great stuff.

I think Quietly has come a long way since Earth 2, especially in how he draws women. Just look at Cat Grant in E2 and tell me she doesn't look like a crack whore. Now look as All Star Superman. They women look like people instead of sticks with boobies.
