I'm working on going to Europe for six weeks. I may have mentioned this in another thread.

I graduated last month, after six years of college. My mother's been really excited about flying me to Europe for a six-week tour, and I've decided to forego getting a job --- even though I really want to --- to do this, because lord knows, I may become so embroiled in work that I'll never ever getting around to taking that trip. So yeah, no time like the present. I may get older and never go and regret it.

So yes, I will be visiting Europe traveling various Schengen countries. I may have a host waiting for me in France (my sister's boyfriend's family) but otherwise it's open season --- anywhere I want to go on a Global Flexi pass on the Eurail and a little travel pack on my back.

This means that for all the European members on the board, ourchair maybe coming to your hometown!

Recommendations of places to go to? Or does anybody want to meet? I must warn you I am an uncultured fool who speaks only English and has a sub-literate comprehension of German.

Aww that sucks. Wales is the best place in the world.
Yeah, actually I'm really dying to visit the British Isles, as I'm actually pretty interested in the cultural distinctions between Scotland, Wales, England and Ireland. But I'm hoping to make it the centerpiece of my attention if I get a second shot at visiting Europe.

My mother refuses to fund the trip otherwise, and who am I to argue? On the other hand, it DOES make sense to go for a more multicultural look at Western Europe on my first trip.

Yep. Unfortunately I'm out of the country most of the summer... or working but lets not talk about that
Well, I'll certainly look into it.

I'm intentionally going for the more eclectic aspects of Europe, rather than the *romantic* Europe, which sounds counterintuitive I know, as the Old World romanticism is pretty much the biggest selling point of the region.

But it's crazy things like the erotic art museum and the Museum Fur Puppentheater in Germany, the Museu De L'Erotica in Spain, those kinds of things that are a little more off to the side or closer towards my interests that I am prioritizing, and if I have time for the rest of the more classical stuff, then I'll spring for that as well.

Which isn't to say that I'm totally skipping classical stuff, it's just that a lot of it will be on my way from point to point. It's impossible to avoid all that, and whatever 'romantic/classical stuff' quota I miss in one region, I'm bound to replace in another.

Wales can be so beautiful and we got a bunch of cool castles and things lol. The people are so friendly unless you are english and there is football or rugby on.

I can't. I'm applying only for the Schengen Visa, which means that I can't visit the British Isles. Or Switzerland.

Man that sucks. But seriously if you get chance to visit the uk next time me you and HBM gotta get ****faced in cardiff

I think the Welsh language is sexy.

That, or I'm gay for Ioan Gruffudd.

you mean the language or the accent? The language is so dumb but sometimes the accent is cool.
If its the accent then its HBM you will want to get drunk because he likely has the accent that can tickle your fancy. my accent however is just.........british.
we got castles and **** too! i mean, there is a castle which is a 5 minute drive from my house

Both. Not that I know the language very well. I'm sure that from a semantic/linguistic perspective you have a more nuanced appreciation or distaste for it than my shallow outsider one.

I'll be interested reading your exploits, as I plan to go there eventually, either with my family or on an OE.

In Rome there is a small cathedral that is decorated wall to wall with human bones. I remember it being really cool.

I am seriously surprised that no one has said something to the effect of, "Oh no! Everyone hide their children from Ourchair!" or something like that.

I guess if I really wanted to scare y'all, I should've announced Ourchair North American Tour 2008, huh?

European people don't have children. They breed trolls.
