The Next 25 Years Of Video Games

...:?

It wasn't really supposed to be funny. It's about the predicted wonders of the not-too-distant future, the way the world, even reality itself, will be changing in less than the next 3 decades.

But if you think your time is better off spent watching two people on the internet stalemate each in Chess.... twice in a row... suit yourself.:|

Yeah, I gave up halfway through.

It gets really ****ing scary at the end. In fact, if what they say is true. . .I'm becoming a hermit. I love games and all, but there is no way I'm implanting crap into my head to play them. Or worse, downloading my ****ing brain onto the Internet.

Very, very interesting. I love this kind of stuff.

The whole concept of computers that activate the pleasure centers of your brain sounds like the makings of an epic science-fiction story.

I call it.

That was the disheartening part of the whole thing. There's a point somewhere in there where it's this amazing dream world... go anywhere, do anything, have sex with anyone, look however you want, and it's all in your mind and it doesn't harm anybody else and it feels as real as anything.

But then there's the ads and the manipulation and the direct pleasuring without anything behind it.... :(

If what they say happens than life was/is/forever shall be meaningless.

My problem with the pleasure thing is that constant contentment would absolutely kill the human race and devalue life. Life is about emotion and experience. Without sadness or anger or pain, there will be no point to anything.

Imagine your mother dying and not even being able to feel sad about it.

I know... that's why I think the direct neuropleasuring is a step or two too far.

The happy fantasy world a few years before it is the place for me. I mean, that's basically what we're all striving for anyway.

I'm all for the glasses that shoot the game right onto your retina (So long as it doesn't kill my vision), but after that. . .no. Just. . .no. It's WAY too close to The Matrix at that point.
