I love this book. Luke & Jessica breaking up? Is someone becoming to Skrull-y for someone?

I love Mack's Echo work - can't wait to see it.

Hopefully this is better than the random jumping all over the place we got with the Civil War tie-ins.

I like Cheung but I'd rather see someone else doing those issues.

the Luke Jessica is what i gathered from what bendis said he said that the issues were called "Breaking Up" and they focus on Luke & Jessica, so i surmised that either they were breaking up or that the NA were breaking up

and i'm pretty sure that this is going to be exactly like the Civil War stuff

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

I'm looking forward to the Fury storyline.

Plus Maleev! This is Marvel's best book in my opinion right now. Funny since this is the guy who writes Mighty Avengers.

I disagree. It's good, but I don't think it near the best.

Punisher, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Astonishing X-men, and countless others are far better.

I guess you're right on that aspect but it is the one I look the most forward to. This was the book that got me started in comics and it's been the most special one for me.

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

I finally read the issue...

I'm really glad to see that The Hood isn't turning out to be some joke. Looks to me that he's got his stuff straight. I think one of the biggest draws/plus to his character is that he's not a supervillian. He's a criminal with some powers.

He doesn't play by the "rules". Most supervillains have families and don't want their battles spilling over to their personal lives (despite the irony of them having their IDs known once they're arrested). The Hood instant hit Tigra at home and then threatened to kill her mother. And then pistol-whipped Tigra mercilessly. Granted she gets into battles all the time and is hit by the occasional powerbeam here and there.....but when you see them beaten by more conventional weapons, it makes it that much more real.

Tigra has supersenses like Wolvie, even better than Wolvie's. She's just as tough as Wolvie is, and whatnot.

And the beatdown wasn't even that bad.

I was underwhelmed by it after all the hype it got.

Exactly how I feel. It's not their *best* book but it is by far my favorite.

Actually most super villains are crazed loners with no family, who spend their time ranting to themselves in a warehouse. I doubt most of them would get married, let alone having kids, they likely spend a lot of their money on hookers.

Frankly Gobby already broke this rule a long time ago, heck almost every villain who discovers the hero's ID breaks this rule, even if they have families (ex: Kingpin with DD). Noble villains are few and far between, most would go after the hero's family if they could.

However I wonder if the Hood was thought this through. What's to stop Tigra from telling Iron Man about all this?

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

What, I'm the only person who read #36?! I didn't even get it until today!

This issue was all over the place...it was kind of hard to follow. It looked like we had some scene changes with nothing to identify when/where we were being taken.

The shower scene with Wolverine and Jess was good. She is certainly acting Skrull-y.

So is Jess Jones. I half expected her to try and choke Luke while they were talking.

The Venom-infested NY being a wretched idea, this is about as close as they could get to making it decent.

But like I said - a little too all over the map.

I dont think the Jess's are skrulls.....Besides,Luke's skin is as hard as steel.....she cant shoke him.

I'm not a Luke Cage expert, but it seems that might be just about the ony way to hurt him. His skin is unbreakable; it's not like it's steel. If it was he wouldn't be able to breathe.

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

Jess would be able to choke him, I'd say.

His skin is like steel, but that wouldn't stop from someone trying to just choke him. Knifes, bullets, needles, etc. wouldn't go through his skin (which is his "power"). Choking doesn't go through the skin.

Like E said....too jumpy.

I understand that Bendis needs to stall on the Invasion thing until 2008....but holy **** man. Talk about detour. Skrulls....The Hood....symbiote plauge? Do you see how the 3 aren't even closely related?

With that said....I really do think Jess could be a Skrull. She's too insistant on not being one. It's probably a red herring or something.

Also....I'm not a fan of the last page's spread. Cage with Thor, Silver Surfer, Doc Samson, Cyclops and even The Punisher? Mental note Bendis----next time you tell Yu to draw a bunch of heroes for a page splash....make sure you tell him to draw characters that would actually interact and fit within the story.

2.5/5

Oh and Bendis.....way to spoil how your NEXT story for your OTHER Avengers book ends. Especially when you haven't even finished the FIRST arc. Just sayin' is all.......
