This will serve as a multipurpose thread for all the remaining Vertigo titles that don't have enough readers at UC (yet) to merit their own discussion thread.

(Which, incidentally, is half my pull list, at the moment.) Namely:

Vinyl Underground by Si Spencer and Simon Gane

American Virgin
by Steven Seagle and Becky Cloonan

Young Liars by David Lapham

the upcoming DEMO Vol. 2 by Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan

As well as Brian Wood's Northlanders, Azzarello's Loveless, Simon Oliver and Tony Moore's The Exterminators, etc.

Plus all other minis, series, OGNs that were previously published by the imprint.

If you've got anything to share, let it out here.

Expect some brief, spoiler free reviews, in the weeks to come. Assuming I don't get lazy.

Or disappear inexplicably for months at a time.

Re: General Vertigo Thread

Vertigo is THE gold standard of contemporary comics.

There really isn't a single comic they publish that I don't love. While I don't read all of them, I've sampled them and the only thing keeping me from being current on them is the fact that my LCS really frowns on reading in store and the bookstores don't carry enough of the titles.

The main probem with Vertigo's stuff is that they tend to be slow monthly reads. They read a lot better in trade. Which is why I dropped DMZ, American Virgin, 100 Bullets and a couple other titles.

But the 3 that I read faithfully each month are Scalped, Fables and Northlanders.

Re: General Vertigo Thread

Vertigo is the best publisher of comics.

From the original series Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, & The Sandman.

To brand new legendary epics like Fables & Y The Last Man.

There is lots of good stuff. 100 Bullets and American Virgin are amazing.

I tried Loveless and couldn't get into it. Northlanders has been amazing.

I have Scalped downloaded to read, I just haven't started it yet. I also have yet to read Vinyl Underground, Young Liars, DEMO, & The Exterminators. Maybe some others.

I'm still waiting for more people to read Carey's Lucifer. Bloody brilliant.

You totally need to hurry up and read it. It's so amazingly hardcore.

I guarantee you that once you read it, you'll come on this site and change your avi/sig combo to a Bad Horse theme.

Re: General Vertigo Thread

Vertigo was Ultimate before there was an Ultimate.

Vertigo was HBO Original Programming before there was HBO Original Programming

Suck it up, cause it's the ****ing truth.

Vertigo is what Ultimate SHOULD HAVE been.

So you think Spider-Man should get his powers from demon sex?

I used to read tons of Vertigo about ten years ago when I was younger and it was cool to buy Hellblazer, but it doesn't really interest me anymore. I do read the two Fables books, though, and I have all the Preacher trades, and most of Transmet and various other odds and ends.

Sounds ridiculous until you consider that Demogoblin got her powers because she made out with Spider-Man, loosely speaking.

YES, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE THINK, JOE.
I haven't really been reading Vertigo, and want to...anyone have any ideas where to start...?
Animal Man
Doom Patrol
The Invisibles
Preacher
Sandman
Transmetropolitan
V for Vendetta
WE3
Y: The Last Man
