Ultimate Comics Armor Wars

Re: Ultimate armor Wars

This is good news! I thought Millar nixed the mini-series in the ultimate universe for the short term. He said it dilutes the line or some such. I trust Ellis with anything ultimate, but I trust him with ultimate Iron man implicitly. Ultimate human was great! Bring it on....I need to wash loeb away!

It's called Ultimate Comics Armor Wars....

LAME!

I think after the carnage Loeb has created, complaining about semantics seems rather pointless.

Anyway what would anyone want to see in this mini?

I would like to see more of Iron Man's rogues gallery and supporting cast in the UU. Seeing more of the Ultimate versions of Rhodey, Pepper and perhaps new characters like Beth Cabe or Harold Hogan.

I think it would interesting if a more aged version of Obadiah Stane as the main villain and having ultimate versions of armored enemies like Titanium Man and Controller for Iron Man to fight.

Post of the Day.

I'm not familiar enough with the original story to know what an Ultimate version might entail but I'm just glad to see Warren Ellis having a hand in whatever this new version of the UU is.

The solit:

ULTIMATE COMICS ARMOR WARS #1 (of 4)
Written by WARREN ELLIS
Penciled by STEVE KURTH
Cover by BRANDON PETERSON
Villain Variant by CARLOS PACHECO
Special Variant by TBA
Exploding from the ruins of ULTIMATUM, Tony Stark races against time to save his crippled corporation and stop the theft of his armored arsenal! Superstar writer WARREN ELLIS (ULTIMATE HUMAN) teams up with rising talent STEVE KURTH (IRON MAN) to bring you a globe-spanning, high-octane thriller with a blast from Tony's past that you've gotta see to believe!
32 PGS./Rated T+ ...$3.99

Of course at $3.99 there is no way I'm paying for this.

Re: Ultimate Armor Wars

Hey, I've got an idea - how about Ellis and Kurth finish their newuniversal series before they start on something else?

Ellis on another UIM mini? Yes please!!

I wonder if this will tie into the upcoming Millar-penned Ultimate Avengers, what with Tony's brother appearing there and all. The "blast from Tony's past" and theft of his technology seem to indicate that, but of course it could be coincidental and this be a completely stand-alone tale. Looking forward to it either way.

I don't know why Marvel raised its prices like ths, in these tough times, a luxuary item like comics is the first to go, I would rather rent DVDs then buy comics. I will wait till the trade paper backs come out in the library. Of course I might buy this, minis are the only thing I would buy nowadays, I don't want to spend money on a series that wil never end.

I never read the original mini series, but I did see the cartoon version, which is likely on youtube and was fairly close to the mini (with some changes to fit TV of course.)

Its an interesting idea, Stark's tech being stolen and used by armored super vilains and even heroes and Stark using more drastic tactics to prevent others from using his tech. Tony gets into a fight Cap over in the 616 universe in this mini, in a certain way its prequel to Civil war.

If Millar is willing to share Greg Stark, perhaps he can be the villain for this series.

Hey we might get to see Ultimate Stilt-Man, finally. :D:wink:

Re: Ultimate Armor Wars

It would be cool to see Ellis' take on villains like Mandarin, Ultimo, Fin Fang Foom (not Nextwave, an Ultimate version), etc....

I said a long time ago that an Ultimate treatment of Fin Fang Foom as a Godzilla type would be awesome.

Re: Ultimate Armor Wars

Ellis should just be writing Iron Man in general.

Re: Ultimate Armor Wars

So weeks later Tony is still mourning Wolverine, but right after it happens he's making a podcast...

There's only been 5 issues and they've already messed up their continuity?!

Re: Ultimate Armor Wars

guys... the mourning wolverine line was a joke... he was using it as an excuse to not do work. He was at a fetish club while he said that. "OH I simply can't work because I am getting over that wolverine thing... sure... wolverine."
