Captain America Movie

Not really news, but Neal McDonough is saying he wants to play Cap:

Not an entirely bad choice, but only if he were packaged with the right ensemble. I think McDonough as Captain America in an FX series about the Avengers/Ultimates would be more ace than McDonough as a solo Captain America.

On an unrelated note, I always thought McDonough would make a great Ozymandias, based on his role in Boomtown.

He'd definitely be good, in a Robert Downey Jr. sort of way. As he said himself though, he'd probably be more suited to an older, more cynical Cap.

I think he could play the part but with the film being set in the 1940's and it being just after he got into the war I think they would go with someone in their early 20's. Still I think he'd be good for an elder Cap.

I've been suggesting McDonaugh for Cap for years. I'd approve.

So much closer than Brad Pitt.

I don't know much about him.

But I think we need an actor with a high amount of range. Steve Rogers is someone who grows up quick. He has the weight of celebrity on one side and the experience of war on the other, so he's got to go from a naive kid to a battle-hardened, likely somewhat cynical man over the course of a pretty short period of time.

Neal McDonough's got a lot of range. He can play cynical politicos and army grunts and space jockeys and all sorts of things. And hes a hard working guy who really tests himself. I think hes up to the task.

There are a lot of rumours going around that Chris O'Donnell is likely to be Captain America...

I don't even think Brad Pitt is that square a fit for Cap anyway. Now, Thor..... I could see Pitt as Thor!

Heh. Well, I'd probably accept him as Captain America based on Band of Brothers alone.

oh, was he in that? I only know him from Tinman...and i think he was the expendable crewman in Star Trek First Contact.

Maybe he would be a good Cap, but he needs a more natural looking hair colour.
