Wii U

"They were particularly unclear about whether the console would support more than one of their tablet-like controllers; Mr. Miyamoto said no, but Reggie said yes (to me in a meeting)," said Pachter. "Obviously, they intend to ship the console with only one of these controllers, so it is unlikely that anyone will develop games that require two, but they were not clear whether the capability exists."

:? now I'm confused. Can it or can't it.

The problem is, Sony and MS are developing new consoles. Which means in a year or two Nintendo's going to be behind again. With that said, I think there's a bit of potential for displays in controllers, but I think Nintendo did what they did with the Wii, and stop short of being truly innovative. The controller shouldn't be 100% tethered to the console, you should be able to move your game from the console to the controller, and be able to play on the go. Kinda like what Sony's trying to do with the PS3 + PSVita.

To be fair though there are some other ways to look at that.

1) We don't know how much more powerful Ps4 and next box will be. Sony and Microsoft themselves said their consoles were living longer as the difference between them wont be as big. I mean Ps2 to PS3 = big leap. PS3 to PS4 = not as big.

So with Wii-U estimated at 50% more powerful than ps3. The difference between it and PS4 maybe only small. I can see it in terms of power been Ps4 > next box > Wii-U but not by much. Like it was Ps2 < NGC < Xbox. but Ps2 was still great compared to other 2

2) PS3 + PSVita = a price of around what $600 to $700 , where as Wii-U they want it at a reasonable price. So it wont be as much as 2 consoles. That's the reason for wire ect.... to cut costs.

3) There may be PS3 + PSVita like wireless connectivity in future as they want 3DS to hook up to it maybe as an extra pad. That would be done with no wires they say :)

Re: Wii 2 aka Project Cafe

Trying to decide if this is a big deal or not...

Probably not, really.

It's kind of in that "deceptive advertising" category. Would be like if DC used pictures of Spidey and the X-Men to advertise their rebooted universe (since they're trying to capture Marvel's lightning with the new "edgy" reboot).

Not really as the Wii-U version's not been made yet. It's logically the only way to show the games as it'll look the same It';ll just be on Wii-U. Only other way would be just a stock logo picture and that would be boring

True, but...

This.

At least he was up front about it when asked. I really believe how things like this are addressed goes a long way toward dispelling controversy, and the way he did it was spot on. If he had answered differently I think they might have more of a poop storm on their hands.

scratched Averngers : Battle for earth of the list since you HAVE to use wiimote and nunchuck. I'm surprised no one has responded since pre-e3. Wow!

For reasons completely unrelated to my kids, I'm not really excited for this either. I think the high price really put a damper on my enthusiasm.

High price? It's not much more than a ps3 is now and a lot less than ps3 was. The price seems very fair. Considering it's also the first console nintendo will sell at a loss (to make the price fair)

Nintendo's profit or lack of doesn't mean much to my wallet.

I'll get a Wii U eventually, only to play the inevitable Metroid game they haven't announced, but which I know will happen eventually. It's kind of sad and stupid, but ever since playing Metroid II on my Gameboy and Super Metroid on my Super Nintendo, I've loved the games to death and whenever a new Metroid is announced, bought whatever system/handheld it was coming out for. The various Metroid games are the main reason I bought a Gameboy Advance, DS, Gamecube, and Wii.

Probably a waste of money in the long run, but *******it Samus, I love you.

We decided to get one of these for Christmas and miraculously found one today - 5:30 on a Saturday night (the deluxe edition). I'm amazed at my wife's luck.

On top of that, my wife got New Super Mario Bros. U for free from some promotion they were doing at Old Navy.

Does anyone know if Wii Console purchases will be downloadable & playable on the Wii U? Or if the Miis will transfer?
