Marvel Cinematic Universe News, Rumors, and Discussion

This comic changed my life and I already get upset when I read/hear people ****ting on Jeph Loeb.

Changed your life? How? And most people complain about Loeb only in regard to Ultimates 3, because it was horrible. Please, explain the Cap/Black Panther thing. How does that not bother you?

Loeb's earlier stuff was good, no one is debating that (well, maybe a few). But Ultimates 3 was horrid. There's a reason so many people reviled it. It's kind of insane to think everyone who hates it is wrong, especially with all the valid reasons given for that hate.

Dude is one of my idols. I don't need that in my life man. I am going to read the interview though. Jeph Loeb is always hilarious and fun. I almost met him in New York. Really wish I had. EDIT: Good panel. Still not reading the thread.

Yeah, burying your head in the sand is always a healthy approach.

I also just realized season two of Agents of SHIELD is NEXT FREAKING WEEK!

Yup. Week from tomorrow. Hope it starts better than Season 1 did.

I've already said it in another thread. You told me I needed an intervention. To refresh my life goal is to be a comic writer and had it not been for The Ultimates 3 blowing me away that wouldn't be happening.

The annual was awesome?

That's what's great about opinions, you're never wrong.

When it comes to people whining online? Yeah it is.

I agree. As much as I enjoyed the first season it REALLY had problems.

I wish you all the luck in the world, but if you're patterning your writing style on Ultimates 3, be prepared for a lot of fan backlash. Seriously, focus more on Loeb's earlier, more worthwhile stuff.

The annual was awesome?

Well, in your opinion, maybe. Yet it still doesn't make the giant plot hole any more palatable or logical.

That's what's great about opinions, you're never wrong.

Pretty safe to say Hitler's opinions were wrong.

When it comes to people whining online? Yeah it is.

I love how you misinterpret pointing out the logical inconsistencies, immature dialogue, and horrible characterization of Ultimates 3 to whining.

Hopefully they've learned what works and what doesn't. At the very least it seems Season 2 will rely more on bringing in characters from the comics that fans want to see. Hopefully they can construct plots and write dialogue that actually serves those characters.

I can shoot you a script if you'd like. It's not like Jeph Loeb. Promise.

Seven years after it came out, yes, that is whining.

[thread=10885]Here's the thread - one of the greatest threads ever made on this site[/thread]

That was worth re-visiting. Seriously, no thought what so ever was put into creating this series at all. 7 years later and it's still vile. More so now after reading and discovering what Captain Panther was most likely doing that bush.

Sure.

Nope. The passage of time doesn't decrease the crapfest that was Ultimates 3. The complaints about it now are just as valid as they were 6 years ago (it came out in 2008 didn't it?), just as they will be 50 years from now.

Valid complaints don't equate whining.

Marvel to air another special during the first ten episodes of Agents of SHIELD season two

That's an interview so there's some more stuff in there.

From Marvel's December 2014 solicits:

Will add that to the timeline when it's released. I suspect this indirectly confirms we'll see an Avengers - Age of Ultron Prelude comic so that they can release a trade with that and the Avengers 1 adaptation in it.

Also:

CAPTAIN AMERICA: PEGGY CARTER, AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D.
KATHRYN IMMONEN, ED BRUBAKER, STAN LEE & STEVE ENGLEHART (W)
RAMON PEREZ, STEVE MCNIVEN, JACK KIRBY, JOHN ROMITA SR. & FRANK ROBBINS (A)
• Marvel’s Agent Carter makes the leap from the movies to the small screen this winter — and Marvel has you covered with this essential look at Peggy’s espionage career!
• In the dark days of World War II, Peggy Carter — aka Agent 13 — works with the French Resistance to liberate Nazi-occupied Paris. When she meets Captain America, will their mutual missions blossom into romance?
• And in the modern day, Peggy Carter, now an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., faces down the Red Skull!
• Collecting CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE FIRST THIRTEEN, CAPTAIN AMERICA (1968) #184-186, and material from CAPTAIN AMERICA (2011) #1-2 and TALES OF SUSPENSE (1959) #77.
104 PGS./Rated T+ …$7.99

I doubt this is an official MCU story since it doesn't include the "Marvel's" tag at the beginning of the title. There was no cover artwork for it so can't see if it has the letterbox and Avengers "A" either.

But from the solicitation mentioning Peggy meets Cap in France (instead of at the camp in NJ like the film) and has her battling Red Skull in "modern day" (not sure how that works), I'm presuming this is a 616 tale just being used to cross promote the Agent Carter series that airs the following month.

He didn't really say, "Yes, there will be more Iron Man movies." He said, "Yes, there will be more Marvel movies with Iron Man in them."

Then on Letterman he said, "There are no plans right now for an Iron Man 4, but there are other plans that I'm involved with."

(Don't take those quotation marks too literally. He didn't say those exact words.)

Guardians of the Galaxy animated series coming... picks up after the movie

Stephen Wacker, Marvel’s vice president for current animation says that the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series will attempt to replicte the movie's offbeat humour and that it WILL pick up where the James Gunn helmed release left off and that Thanos will figure prominently in the show.

Now, based on that, you'd think it would be an official part of the MCU. However, I'm not sure that'll be the case.

I mean, I'm sure it'll use the storyline from the film as a basis, and it's obviously using the character designs/look of the film. I just doubt it'll be considered official MCU canon. I doubt the GotG sequel will be at all beholden to what happens in this show, and I'm sure GotG2 will probably have storylines that show this as blatantly non-canon.

We'll see what they say. If it ends up being canon I'll add it to the timeline. I just have a feeling this is merely an animated series version of the many non-canon, "inspired by" comics that have been done for the MCU.

Very interesting. Guess this was the big news Downey was referring to when people thought he was referring to Iron Man 4.

At first I wasn't sure how much of this to believe, but after thinking about it it does fit in with a lot of rumors out there (Marvel trying to get a deal with Sony to use Spider-man, Chris Evans talking about life after Captain America, Captain America reportedly
leading his own team at the end of Age of Ultron
). I wonder how this, if true, will affect what a lot of people assumed about the future of Marvel films. Specifically, would Avengers 3 still focus on Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet? It seems clear that Marvel wants Thanos to serve as a big bad, but perhaps they want to keep him for the more galactic GOTG films. Who knows, I'm just speculating here. I also wonder if this means that
Steve Rogers is going to die at the end of Captain America 3. I've read that speculation on other sites, but I can't see Marvel killing him off with one more film left on Evans' contract.
