Maybe we should leave it up to a vote what the years should be, until the new prequel game may or may not reveal more information.

Option 1:

GOW1- 1255 BC
GoW2/3- 226 BC

option 2:

GOW- 475 BC
GOW2/3- 226 BC

option 3:

GoW1- 1255BC
GOW2/3- 1243 BC

I think personally option 1 works the best as it keeps pretty much everything working except the Persian War thing. It also allows the time period of GOW4 to make sense as well as Shovel Knight

Option 2 is dead, I've watched some of it and it is implied that the Persians attacked Greece, the 2 persian war are only 10 year apart, so rip.

Yeah that's what I've been thinking now too. Either option 1 or 3 are the only ones that can really work now. I am really hoping the prequel game will confirm something but I doubt it'd touch on the continuity of 2-3 since those will have nothing to do with it

I think it will allign with the newer GoW, there's a framing story of Older Kratos telling the story to calliope and he is depicted as loving to her. In the codex he's seen with the Spartan Captain outfit, so it must be before his senseless conquest, which means that he was def a mortal during the Troyan War.

Yeah. Do we know like... The maximum earliest year the Trojan War can start?

1193 BCE, the start.
1183 BCE the end.

then if you want to consider the Odyssey too, Odysseus returns to Ithaca in 1173 BCE.

Wait.... But doesn't the Trojan war happen from the 13th century through the 12th century? Wouldn't it start somewhere in the 1200s then?

Most stuff I'm seeing says modern scholars put it around 13th-12th century BC.... Some even going as far back as possibly the 14th century
The real answer to all these conflicting dates is probably simply that the developers probably just wanted to do a cool game that uses all the iconic ancient greece stuff without paying attention to them being different periods of time in that era.

that's exactly the reason, originally they didn't add historical events aside from the Persian King and Hercules' third labor.

Everything went to **** when the norse saga started doing more reference to those.

I think the Colossus of Rhodes thing and GOW4 only being "1000" years after 3 are the biggest things tripping the timeline up. It's why I think going with the centuries between 1 and 2 fixes that issue by letting 2/3 occurs about 1000 years before 4 does

Okay yeah it's definitely option 1. I found out apparently that Cory Barlog had said that GOW4 happens somewhere between "150 to 1000 years after GOW3" so for that to work with fimbulwinter in 536 in real life the only option can be option 1, since option 3s timeline would extend the gap to be way larger than 1000 years between 3 and 4.
