So i need to get a laptop sorted for uni so i can easily take it to Japan with me but im not sure what my best choice is regarding OS. I`ve heard people ***** about Vista and i believe its really hard to put illegal software on so i wondered if i should get Vista or XP.

just noticed this.
if i find a song on the internet i want, say an artist i like has a new song out but you can only listen to their song on their website i use a program called Advanced MP3/WMA recorder. You can use it in the same way with programs like Napster its basically like when you used to listen to the radio and recorded your favourite songs onto cassette except you are saving them as an mp3 with equal quality.
Advanced MP3/WMA recorder isnt free but u can find some registration keys or hacks out there for this

Jonny reminds me, if I switch jobs I'll probably need a laptop to take to work as well. If one has a wireless modem could it also have a regular modem, or would I have to switch it out?

So, basically, could it have both types of modems at once? Just in case my next job moves me to a bunch of different locations, which is very conceivable.

You could get one with a normal modem then buy something like this :

there is also a way to have both with wireless cards installed and a normal modem but that can be more expensive , these are simple to use and work very well.

Its highly likely if not the standard thing.
To quote a spec from one of the latest Sony Vaoi`s:
Networking: Ethernet 100 BASE-TX/10 BASE-T, Wireless LAN 802.11b/g

so yeah you can probably expect both

Thanks guys. I've never had a laptop before but if I switch jobs I'll definately buy one (at the expense of a PC).

Kind of. If you have downloaded a song or movie and can play it on your computer there are programs that says that they can remove the DRM. I haven't tried them myself and some files come with multiple protections so you might have SOME difficulty with them. If those programs doesn't work there are others that converts the files to non-protected files.

Just a note. NONE of the programs can break the DRM protection so if you have a file that you downloaded and can't play on your computer you're screwed.

Two problems with this: First, the idea is to mass convert a large number of files, so recording them all isn't really practical. And second, if it encodes to MP3 in real time then it's not equal quality. If it records to WAV or AIFF or something it will be equal until you encode to MP3. Plus there's even more time re-converting the files.

None of these should give the problem with pop-ups but they are unnecessary and should be deleted to clean up your system since they don't do anything.

I suspect that your problem is in your hosts file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) Post that and I can take I look at it.

I still don't know what the first file is (.exe) but it has EA in it's name so I have to ask, do you have any games made from EA installed on your computer?

Also I'm not sure about the second one but from a search about it many replies in threads that have this file in their HiJackThis! log seems to recommend that you download this program http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 and run it.

EDIT: Never mind about the last comment. I must be tired. It is part of SystemOptimízer that you apparently have installed on your computer and is not dangerous. Still wants to know about the first file though.

EDIT 2: Never mind again. The first file is part of your EPSON Stylus CX8400 Series drivers. Not dangerous in other words.

Edit 3 (I need to get some sleep):
Since you have WinFixer2005 in every log you post I found these removal instructions for you to get rid of them for good:
Removal Steps:

1. Please print these instructions as they will be needed later when Internet access is not available.

2. Save these instructions in word or notepad to the desktop where they can be easily found.

3. Download Vundo Fix and save it to your desktop.

4. When it has completed downloading, double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

5. Click the Scan for Vundo button.

6. Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.

7. You will now receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click the YES button. Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.

8. When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click the OK button.

9. When the computer has shutdown, turn your computer back on.

The WinFixer and Vundo infection should now be removed from your computer.

If you are still having a problem then please perform the following steps.

This step should only be used if the instructions in the previous steps did not remove the infection:

1. Download VirtumundoBegone and save it to your desktop.

2. Now reboot into Safe Mode.

1. This can be done tapping the F8 key as soon as you start your computer

2. You will be brought to a menu where you can choose to boot into safe mode.

3. Select safe mode with networking using your arrow keys on the keyboard and then press enter.

4. When you computer reaches the desktop make sure you log in as the same user which you had performed the previous steps,

3. Once you are logged into safe mode, double-click VirtumundoBeGone.exe file you just downloaded and follow the instructions.

4. Exit when it has finished, and reboot back to normal mode.

The WinFixer and Vundo infection should now be removed from your computer.

I think my monitor is broke. Everything was fine earlier.

Than I got up and came back later in a 5 minute period and the colors are off.


Everything is dull and the colors aren't as bright.



It hurts me eyes to look at. Does anyone have a suggestions or do I need a new monitor?
