Batman/Superman Anthology Timelines

Really early in my listening to the Batman : Revolution audiobook today. Lots of dating info already in terms of placement with first. Also pleased that we learn the "Bicentennial of Gotham" was somewhat manufactured by Mayor Borg to justify that parade for political reasons. That has bugged me since I was a teenager in the 90s and learned of real US history. No way any city in the east coast is that new. Not word for word but the press questioned that anniversary from before events of 89. True origins of Gotham is probably much more than 300 years. Borg picked a merger of small towns around 1789 to justify a parade.

To be fair NYC didn't become an actual city until 1898 so it's probably a similar situation with Gotham

Not sure where else to put thoughts on Batman Revolution. I liked it. In many ways more than Resurrection. It feels like it's own story. While that was totally a sequel to the 1989 movie. Yet I can not imagine this as a Burton movie. Nor really a Batman movie made by anyone in the 90s. This is Riddler is so sympathetic that he is barely a villian at all. He is more used as the spokesperson for a terrorist group. Which historical, political backstory is way too complicated to really keep track of or be interesting.

That sounds like negative accessment of something I liked more that last one... the strength here is characterization of Batman/Bruce, supporting characters we know.... no spoilers minor detail I liked - Gordon is said to be former Navy Man. That seemed liked new addition to character and I checked Pat Hingle serviced in the Navy. I appreciate that is specific to his version of the character.

Overall the overall detail and characters are strong... many references to a 60s tv show... but the weak part was was the overall plot and motive of the real mastermind.
