DC Extended Universe / DC Universe - Timeline

Anyone knows why Wikipedia the Bane and Deathstroke Movie is listed on the DCU article? Is there a reason other than Wikipedia being Wikipedia?

It's a movie WITH Bane and Deathstroke that's supposedly in the works, maybe as antagonists but not main characters (I strongly doubt they will be at least). And it's not gonna be called "Bane & Deathstroke". That's new articles lying or stretching the truth out of context.

Was more asking about if this movie with the two is set in the DCU, 'cause I don't remember any reports stating that

i think its mostly been implied, gunn has always brought it up in terms of future dcu plans and he's never specified that it will be elseworlds

The DCU is the NEW Earth-1 post-Flashpoint.
Meanwhile, the DCEU's new numeration in the multiverse I don't have knowledge of. Gunn hasn't confirmed the specifics of what is different about this current stage of the multiverse yet.

While I don't accept this designation currently, I think I speculated that that could be the case.

(Don't take the reality numbers too seriously)

Pre-Crisis
Earth-38 - DC Extended Universe (JL?)
Earth-89 - Burtonverse

Post-Crisis/Pre-Flashpoint
Earth-1 - DC Extended Universe (ZSJL?)
Earth-89 - Burtonverse

Flashpoint
Earth-1 - DC Extended Universe (Keaton)

Post-Flashpoint
Earth-1 - DC Universe
Earth-38 - DC Extended Universe (Clooney)

In that sense, the DC Universe is technically a sequel to the DC Extended Universe in that both it and the Clooney-Verse are valid realities spinning off.

Well, it was just a thought. I guess the circumstances of Blue Beetle happening existed in the DCEU before The Flash, hence why similar events would occur in both universes.

I mean, I'm not really subscribed to linking the DCEU and DCU together, but it's somewhat possible I guess. Not too outlandish either, since it provides a justification for Gunn being a biiiit selfish with keeping his characters around. :p

Also, I always thought Clooney would be a decent Frank Miller Batman given the right material... I feel that's controversial to say though.

Going back to novel discourse (sorry fellas). James Gunn has said that the DCU will be multimedia, spanning films, tv, animation, games etc. How are we supposed to keep track of what's canon and what's not if anything that gets made, he turns around and disqualifies? Isn't the whole point of releasing tie-in media building on his own idea? The fact he greenlit a novel for his film thst he doesn't even deem canon is nonsense to me.

It seems that it's even slightly referenced in the film. Clark's relationship to the Justice Gang, the 'irradication' of all kryptonite. I imagine it's because he wants to use Metallo down the line but if that's the case, why make the novel in the first place if you're going to retcon it? That devalues all extended media yet to come.

By confirming what's not so there isn't confusion, which he's following well so far. We'll see how quickly he confirms that media IS canon whenever that multimedia starts releasing, but with the way he's been holding on canon it'd prob be big part of their announcements.
