James Bond: Quantum of Solace (spoilers involved)

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

Noel Gallager just wanted to be the new James Bond.

I'm not sure if you didn't get my joke or if you're trying to make a joke in response but I'm just going to assume that you just called my mother a whore.

*******!!

*fight*

Uh, no, I was being sarcastic.

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

The duet is performed by Jack White and Alicia Keys, and I personally think that it's an improvement from Chris Cornell's song from Casino Royale....and apparently Noel Gallagher from Oasis is dissing it and complaining that it's written by Americans.

See, this is why people go to Oasis concerts just to assault them.

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

The theme song for Quantum of Solace, "Another Way to Die" (horrible song title) can be heard in its entirety here (an instrumental version was played on a Coke commercial):

I can't remember the last time I wholeheartedly disagreed with someone on a message board, as much as right now. This is an awful, awful, song. I literally can't for the life of me picture how they're going to make an exciting montage to this tune.

It sounds like something a child came out with while playing with his toys. "Woooahaowahwohaowhwoaoaaaoaaooooohhhh!!!!" and then it trails off into Alicia Keys screaming "Eeewww!! Uuguggh!" while the guitar fiddles around a bit. WHAT THE ****?!!

I can't believe how bad this is.

I agree, I was expecting a lot more.

It's alright, not terrible but not great either.

I admit, the moaning parts suck, but I think it's a pretty good song....

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

I think the new song is atrocious. But, then again, I haven't really liked a Bond song since Moore's era.

As for series staples not being in QoS ("Bond, James Bond", Moneypenny, Q, "Shaken, not stirred"), I'm fine with that. I'd like to see them eventually, but I don't think they're necessary in QoS.

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

You have to be careful with that kind of stuff, than it just becomes cliche and almost parodies itself.

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

I should point out that Chris Cornell's song for Casino Royale is one of my favourite Bond songs ever, because it's actually about the character and it's a great tune that sounds a bit like the Bond theme itself. My friends all agree with me.

I agree with that

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

I just listened to the new Bond theme...

and it sucks. Hard. You Know My Name was great - my first Bond theme, to my first Bond film, ever, and it rocked.

But this? Good God.

Two or more people agreeing with me?

Surely we don't have to worry about Global Warming now that Hell has frozen over?

What? I am agreeing with two or more people?

I need to call Agent 47. This *can't* get out.

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

I wish I could be more excited for this film...

Its overall premise (which seems like a contemporary retread of Licence to Kill) and its woeful theme song (the worst Bond song since 'The Man with the Golden Gun') have browned me off to the point of not caring one way or another about this movie.

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

Who would you guys have liked to see doing the theme song?

Possibly Liam or Noel Gallagher, since they said they had an interesting idea for a Bond song.

I'm going to be intentionally mysogynist here and say that whoever sang this Bond song should have been a man. What I like about Craig's Bond is that he's the classic, Conneryesque mysogynist in contemporary society and Cornell's song really captured the macho-toughness of his attitude to the world at large. This new song isn't anything like that and it's just a stupid r&b tune with nothing to it. I would have prefferred a continuation of the heavy, metallic, ballad sound of the last movie instead of this rhythm nonsense.
