Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (spoilers)

I'm looking forward to Monday...

My classes have been cancelled due to the weather, a new Used song ("The Bird and The Worm") is being premiered, and, among these things, the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End will be premiering on Yahoo!

Promotional movie posters as well as images from the movie have already been posted on the site, but the much anticipated trailer is posted on March 19th. A Monday.

Can you believe that?

I'm looking forward to this movie moreso than even Spider-Man 3 or any of the other summer movies... I have high hopes for this one!

I'm looking forward to it, but I think they ruined the Pirates of the Caribbean "trilogy" when they decided that you had to watch the third movie to see the ending to the second movie.

This movie is going to be totally sweet. The second movie dragged a bit, the plot was really complicated and didn't always add up and some parts bordered on the surreal, but it had really great action sequences, fantastic characterization (that last scene with Jack and what's-her-face was... wow) and was a great setup for the next movie. The zombie monkey was the best part!

Did you think that about the original trilogy in Star Wars as well then?

The second movie in any trilogy is always the transition movie, with no real ending until the third one comes along. Take for example Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Back to the Future... These were all movies that relied on the big finale. Pirates will be no different. I'm pumped.

Hmm... yes, actually. There movies are supposed to be "trilogies," yet it feels like they do a movie, it makes money, then decide to do two more movies which connect together. A real trilogy either has each movie connecting to each other, or they're all stand-alone. Same thing happened with The Matrix.

That said, it can still be enjoyable. I'm sure I will have fun watching it.

Yeah that's the general rule of trilogy, first one is for the most part stand alone but leaves possibilities, second one usually leave a few thing unresolved, and the third typically ends all major storylines

This is why I love the Indiana Jones Trilogy (Soon to be Quadrilogy). But, I, too, am looking forward to Pirates above all other movies this summer, just barely above Spidey and Ocean's Thirteen (I'm a sucker for the Ocean's movies).

Ocean's 12 was the worst movie I've ever seen and I wouldn't see the next one if you payed me ...

I thought I was the only one who hated Ocean's 12. Why is everyone so in love with that movie?

In real life, I actually don't know anyone who liked it. Everyone, myself included, loved Ocean's 11, but was horribly disappointed with 12.

There was actually a huge discussion about movies that took over my Law class a few months ago that started because I said "Ocean's 12 ****ing sucked", and someone else overheard and said "Ocean's 12? Oh, don't even get me STARTED on Ocean's 12! I ****ing HATE that movie!". A bunch more people overheard that, and soon I was in the middle of a 30-person hate-fest at that damn movie. From there, it branched into a regular movie discussion.

Really? When I bring up how I liked Oceans 11 but hated 12, I get attacked by a group of angry Matt Damon Fangirls.

Similarly, when I bash Pirates of the Caribbean, riots start.

I like both Ocean movies. I'm one of a kind, and therefore better than all of you.

Anyway, Pirates of the Caribbean. Jack Sparrow is the ****.
