Help Support The Comic Board:

My ideal movies would have The Joker as the main villain in The Dark Knight, and introduce Harvey Dent and maybe The Penguin as supporting cast. Batman 3 would introduce Two-Face and maybe The Riddler, with Joker and Penguin as supporting cast. Leaving Batman 4... (yes, a fourth one) with Bane as the main villain who breaks open Arkham. I would have loved this.

Interesting. I have a copy of their Plastic Man script and I presumed it was an abandoned project. I don't like Keanu as Plastic Man though.

No. No Keanu. I'd take Jim Carrey or Johnny Knoxville, someone along those lines but for some reason they think it's a good idea to have the most emotional and wacky character in comics played by 'Whoa'.

A review of The Spirit trailer by someone from ObsessedWithFilm.com (including trailer):
Ah, Mr. Frank Miller - I didn't realise your solo directing debut was actually for a commercial. Good job on the weird psychedelic images, the "beer commercial" music and the over the top short story of a guy who is attracted to all kinds of women.
Is this a commercial for The Spirit, a new kind of deodorant?

Because this can't be a trailer for a movie, can it?
That is just bizarre.
If you are at all a fan of Will Eisner's original incarnation of The Spirit universe then it's officially time to get pissed at this. As has happened so many times in Frank Miller's writing career in comics, his own desire for promoting his own voice through other people's material has resulted in an absolute mess which does nothing but appease Miller's weird artistic taste.
Is this really the movie you have been itching to make as your long awaited solo film directing debut?
Everything seems awkward, the backgrounds are horrible… it's so ****ing boring. Nothing is going on, what is Denny Colt's motivations here? He is suppose to be a detective coming back from the dead to fight crime in the shadows, not some kind of porn star who is trying to bed as many women as he can.
This is insulting. What the **** have they done with The Spirit?

Casting anyone other than Jim Carrey as Plastic Man would be a sad, pointless little gesture.

Sorry P-man I have to disagree. There is another

Think about it, Who else would be more convincing as man of plastic?

Jake Gyllenhaal suddenly seems like someone they should be considering for Thor.

Dye that hair blonde/dirty blonde and he could make a good Ultimate looking Thor (the look they should go with).

But as for that for Price of Persia? Looks cool.

I think all the grief that picture is getting across the Internets has something to do with the fact that he's not exactly posing for a promo shot, and as a result we have to see him look candidly unpleasant and squinty.

n00bs are gonna break the internet arguing over this...

EVERYONE TO THE BUNKERS!!!

I think he's just drumming up interest for tropic thunder, still hilarious to have Iron Man saying "**** DC comics"

Yes, we smart ones will find it hilarous. I'm just waiting to see that n00b somewhere on the internet start something over this. It's inevitable! :P

If he isn't just trying to be provocative (which you know he is) this just further supports my theory that RDJ is Tony Stark. Because I could totally imagine Tony Stark hating The Dark Knight.

Best Comic Book Movie Posters

An unusually brilliant and intelligent IGN article that gives kudos to all sorts of random comic book movie posters (that most people would either have forgotten or just wouldn't know about) instead of just praising the awesomeness of all the recent Marvel movies.

Not sure if I agree with the top-spot choice, but I definitely agree that that poster had the best tagline of any comic book movie.

I didn't read it but they had some pretty good choices, except for Transformers and Spider-man3 which I would not say were good posters.

Yeah. And I didn't actually think the poster they had for The Dark Knight was terribly worthy of being so high on the list, either.

My favourites from the list were:

- The Shadow
- Batman Begins
- Rocketeer

What did you think was bad about the Spider-Man 3 poster?

~~

Anyway, it was a good list, but if I could've taken one poster off of it, it would be the Watchmen/Rorschach one. It was fun to look at fangasm-wise, but in the back of my head it was and is the first warning bell that this film was going to be more style than substance. It doesn't scream "A STORY LIKE NONE YOU'VE SEEN BEFORE!" either.

What should have been on there?

Period.

Because there was nothing special, it's just a photo with nothing interesting to it, not style, nothing

It was interesting based on the fact he was in a Black costume something he hadn't been in 1 and 2 plus the rain effect let you know Peter was going to a dark place.
