The Post-Flashpoint DC Comics Reboot

Also, I'm not at all onboard with the idea of Bruce as Batman with his actual son as Robin, in Gotham while at the same time travelling all over the world to set up new Batmen. It just sounds hokey.

I have a feeling Dick will Stay as Batman, since the cover of Nightwing his costume is red and Black makes me feel like it's going to be Tim Drake.

This is not the case. But Tim Drake is still around. The Batman Universe is being left virtually untouched by the "reboot" other than making Bruce the only Batman in Gotham again.

I am super-pumped for Swamp Thing... I know I'm biased, but it's probably what I'm most excited for this fall. And the art is going to be phenomenal. Today's announcements are easily my favorites... I'll be checking out Frankenstein and I Vampire for sure... The latter simply because Fialkov's independent work is phenomenal. I hope he makes Mr. Bennett into something awesome.

Where was that said? I'm just assuming He ditches the Red Robin for Nightwing. Which I don't really like, I mean Red Robin is a lame name and the costume could use a little work but It's a good Step for Drake to craft his own identity like Grayson did with Nightwing.

Not familiar with Jeff Lemire (should I be) and don't care anything for Animal Man, but I am all over that Frankenstein series.

IN THE FORM OF DUNG!

Jeff Lemire is the writer/artist of Vertigo's SWEET TOOTH, my favorite ongoing series.

Check it out.

Ah, well this is a bit of a disappointment. I think Damien only really works with Dick as Batman.

Woot, the first official announcement of a Wildstorm character in the Post-Flashpoint DCU

Priscilla Kitaen has just found out she's a monster. A half-alien hybrid, the woman known as Voodoo must confront the secrets of her past to make sense of the nightmare her life has suddenly become. VOODOO #1 will be written by Ron Marz with art by Sami Basri.

E,

Jeff Lemire is pretty fantastic. You should read his Essex County trilogy. It's one of my favorite stories in any medium, ever. Just yesterday it was announced that a film is being made of it, not saying that it is an indication of quality. His other books Sweet Tooth, Nobody, and Superboy are also all pretty great.

Mmmm pandering. I am more greatly amused that the same nerds who're screaming "diversity" and "role model" about Barbara, are the same ones who moaned about Kate Kane, Jaime Reyes, Renee Montoya changing the status quo. Apparently, diversity only works when you're a pretty, white, hetero girl.

I miss Ryan Choi myself.

And my *****ing about Renee Montoya was never against her. Shes consistently been one of the strongest female characters in comics. I thought putting her in a costume was doing the character more harm than good.

So my Legion stays. I can't say I'm optimistic about Legion Lost, but I'll be getting it. Looks like we've got Wildfire, Dawnstar, Gates, Tellus, Invisible Kid, and two that I'm having trouble identifying.

Tenn Titans... I might try it. I think that one will come down to how many other titles I've got on my list. Since its 7 right now its got good odds.

Even though we have yet to see it, I completely agree. We've already seen a glimpse of it, and even though Damien has changed since then, he hasn't changed enough to make me think it would work. It's like Dick told him, "You think he'll put up with you like I do?"

:-( Poor kid.

I miss Ryan Choi, a lot. And, Renee as the Question has grown on me, but that was my only complaint too, she was awesome as she was. Tho the vast majority were complaining more that Vic Sage was being replaced with a lesbian latina.

Ugh. I really don't like Gutters. That dude's always struck me as obnoxious and pretentious.

As far as Barbara Gordon goes, I'm conflicted. On one hand, Oracle was a great character. On the other, she's a great character ostensibly due entirely to Gail Simone's work, and Gail will be writing the new book.

OTOH, there's this heartbreaking article by Jill Pantozzi.

Back more vaguely on the reboot, I like the diversity they're bringing to the books, not in terms of racial/ethnic/lifestyle/gender diversity (Though that's certainly great), but in terms of the type of books. The superhero stuff is actually the least interesting to me, flooded with creators I don't care about and artists taking over writing on huge properties.

But then we've got books like Animal Man and Swamp Thing and Frankenstein with these really fantastic creators, so I'm perfectly happy with that.

Oh, and that Titans cover is the UGLIEST thing ever.

This is really the whole kit and kaboodle. What a stupid, juvenile move on DC's part.

On my part, I'd always hoped they'd wait until spinal-cord-trauma-based paralysis is definitively cured before doing it for Oracle.

No offense, but that doesn't work. Not in a world where all she needed to do is call Zatanna, or Dr Mid-Nite, or Accomplished Perfect Physician, or Mr Terrific, etc and she'd be healed. Yes, there were great stories with her as Oracle, but it was a cruel and pandering (and no small bit misogynistic) move to keep her in the chair. If it'd been Bruce, Ollie, Clark, he'd been back on his... oh wait, they CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD, yet no one is allowed to fix Barbara's spine? It's like all these parents projecting their kids with birth defects into Oracle, that's not why she's in a chair, she's the victim of a crime.

No one screamed when Xavier walked again, and no one would scream if they decided to let the Chief from Doom Patrol walk again. This is yet another example of fans not allowing comics to appeal to the masses.
