#1: One Step Forward

* Abner Jenkins (MACH IV) announced that he was putting the Thunderbolts back together. He first seeks out his ex girlfriend Melissa Gold (Songbird) and convinces her that he needs her on the team. Shes skeptical, but decides to join at least for a little while

* Abe also recruits Donald Gill (Blizzard) and Erik Josten (Atlas). Atlas had lost his powers so Abe recruited him as a handy man. Songbird and Atlas catch up. She isnt very happy with Blizzard being on the team.

*The Thunderbolts get a distress call and head out. Melissa wonders how Abe manages to afford all this equipment. They face Fathom Five, (angry atlanteans). With the arrival of Genis Vell (Captain Marvel), Fathom Five retreat. Atlas talks to Captain Marvel, who is only doing this all for fame. Atlas is enraged how Genis is trying to force himself on the team, also he doesnt like the attraction between him and Songbird as he believes it would ruin the team (because of MACH IV). Atlas somehow gets his powers back, attacks Genis and nearly beats him to death, then tosses him into the sea.

*The Thunderbolts go back to there headquarters, except for Abe who goes to talk to his financer who is revealed to be....dun dun DUN...BARON STRUCKER

*The Thunderbolts interupt and tell Namor that they need his help in flushing Fathom Five out. Namor refuses as he still believes that they are criminals.

*The players of The Great Game attack the heroes. (Thunderbolts, Namor and Mr. Fantastic, who was also there). After the heroes defeat the villains, the bosses of the Great Game detonate the explosives ont he suits of the villains. The Thunderbolts talk to Joystick and convince her to join them. Mr. Fantastic disables the explosives and MACH IV flies outside to scramble the signals, but not all are disabled as one of the bombs go off and the building starts to collapse

#3: Heavy Burdons

*Atlas and Songbird hold up the building while Blizzard and Speed Demon douse the flames. MACH IV and an arriving Spider-Man help from outside. Eventually everyone escapes the building safetly but MACH IV is crushed under debries and his suit is damaged.

They cant make it to the last bomb in time, but thats when Genis (now called Photon) arrives and takes care of it. He then joins the T-Bolts. #11: Purple Reign: Part Two

*House of M tie in. To confusing to explain

Re: New Thunderbolts #1-13 short synopsis

Probably the best-written issue is #9, the issue that looks at Dr. Chen Liu (Radioactive Man) and how he deals with the "Atlantean menace." There are some very interesting rationalizations that he has to work through about dealing with terrorists and about what is willing to do and not do and about how far he can be manipulated.

Prior to that issue, the character had been a kind of annoying blank to me. I vaguely remembered his place in 616 history, knew he was Chinese, but that was about it, but this issue actually brought him into focus.

Nicieza is doing something somewhat similar to Bendis - he has new characters on the team and he needs to bring the reader up to speed on them, but he's chosen a more integrated way of doing it. You get glimpses of the new members and how they interact with each other, but through the plot of the issues, rather than taking entire arcs to do it, and I much prefer this method.

The good thing about Nicieza's stuff is that it's extremely character- and plot-heavy -- but that tends to be that bad part, too. There are ALWAYS a ton of plot threads floating around, and although he's careful to keep nudging them forward, sometimes just a little and sometimes a lot, remembering what's going on from issue to issue can be hard. The whole "who is the Swordsman" thing has been going on for all 13 issues (well, subtract the House of M tie-in), much like the tease for the "Ronin" (aka "bubble boy") character has, but the difference in New T-Bolts is that the character has been in and out of issue, glimpsed here and there, rather than just teased on a couple of covers (an approach which ticks me off). While the Wolverine crossover arc gave us much new info on the character, those are also my least favorite issues, because they seem muddled and less clearly focused than a lot of the other issues.

If someone wanted to catch up on T-Bolts, I'd suggest starting with #5, the start of the "Fathom Five" issues. You get a clear look at some of the newer "maybe hero wannabes" and some of the background team-building issues. The House of M crossover issue is skippable for a new reader to the title, because it takes a bit of T-Bolts history knowledge to appreciate the changes in the characters in this storyline.

One of my favorite issues.

That would explain why I was confused by the issue.

All in all, series is very awesome, and love the art.

The New Thunderbolts kicked the Avengers' *** to Kingdom come and back! And to the Microverse, too. And it looks like they all did this because Hank Pym, Carol Danvers, and Henry Gyrich are all working for.....

.......HELMUT ZEMO!!!!!!

*faints*

Pretty good issue. Songbird is such a *****, though. I really hope that one Mach IV has his team ready, that he kicks just her (not necessarily The Thunderbolts team) *** to Kingdome come. I was hoping that Sanders would quit and join Mach IV's team. And once he was kicked off (seriously, is Songbird going to kick everyone? Sheesh!) that he would still join Mach IV. But with being with Dr. Spectrum and Hyperion, this should play out very interesting.

Re: New Thunderbolts discussion w/ #1-13 synopsis. (spoilers)

i was only getting new avengers, but the title sounds goods...may give it a shot

Re: New Thunderbolts discussion w/ #1-13 synopsis. (spoilers)

I've decided to add this to my pull list, and I'm going to try and get the back issues in TPB. I don't plan however, on getting the original series. I just can't spend that much on TPBs, so I'm going to start with the New TBolts series. I remember the origin and the core members from the Heroes Reborn debacle and later Avengers issues, but could someone effectively sum up the most important parts of the first series for me, so I know where I'm standing with New TBolts?

I think the best part of Niciezas Cable & Deadpool is the deep, multiple plot threads, something which I hear is repeated here. Look forward to catching up on this one.

Pretty cool issue. Tom Grummet is an excellent artist, though his faces can look weird here and there (like Abe's for example). But the new Swordsman is revealed, and its Andreas Von Strucker. That sure got me by surprise. I thought he was dead with his sister, but he was taken by Helmut Zemo to train him to be his puppet, more or less. Helmut freed Baron Von Strucker and now they're planning a scheme together. Swordsman is now no longer under anyone's control now.

Best part is when MACH IV and the crew stopped the baddy by showing him porn.

"And we're going to keep this on 24/7?"

"There's a problem with that?"

You forgot to mention that Nighthawk joined the team

Well, he never actually answered in #16. But with #17, the Thunderbolts will temp. be upstate New York in one of Nighthawks hideouts.

Re: New Thunderbolts discussion w/ #1-13 synopsis. (spoilers)

Helmut Zemo, Maybe better known as "Baron Zemo", A Captain America villain.

Man, I've been away from the Thunderbolts too long, I'm missing everything after Strucker attacked the city. Who's on the current team? And Mach 4's making a team of his own? Who's in it?

P.S. Poor Blizzard, I was happy when he joined. Why the blimey hell did Songbird kick him off the team?

The Thunderbolts team is currently

Songbird (Leader)
Atlas
Radioactive Man
Joystick
Photon (Genis Vell)
Nighthawk.

Then Mach IV decided to create his own team, which currently has Fixer and Blizzard in it

Re: New Thunderbolts discussion w/ #1-13 synopsis. (spoilers)

Thanks.

Awesome for Blizzard. But Fixer? I'm surpised Mach 4 would have anything to do with that two-faced ***-munch. Unless, Mach 4's new goal isn't exactly has noble as it used to be... I hope it is more noble (even though he's probably making the team out of spite).

So...

Anyone still reading this? I know Rhyo and I are, though both of us aren't really hyped to read it, but it's still a decent series. Not that it's bad or anything, but Fabian can work on improvement more.

#103 has the T-Bolts with Zemo still leading them to find villains and recruit them for the cause Tony is leading now in Civil War. For those who don't know, Zemo leading the T-Bolts was a revelation revealed with #100, I believe it was. The numbering went from 18 to 100 since the 19th issue of this volume is the 100th issue of the T-Bolts series in all.

Anyways, in this issue they first start going after some people who stole Abe's first three old Beetle suits. One of the guys that mostly stays around Zemo, P. Norbert Ebbersol (a.k.a. Fixer) makes a crack saying, "Hey look! It's a Beetles reunion!"

Of course someone had to go, "I don't get it." with Fixer replying back, "You're too young." I don't remember when this issue came out, but the begging has it spoiling the end of Civil War 2, so that's something people need to watch out for.

Still, decent series & cool artist.

Re: New Thunderbolts discussion w/ #1-13 synopsis. (spoilers)

They ****ed up the numbering with this series.

And it looks dull.
