Usually I'd see a thread dedicated to documenting fan-fiction and go "Ew, cringe" but Undertale's fandom is very unique. They latched onto the idea of Undertale and wrote countless stories about it which has essentially become its own community, with its own multiverse. Personally, the best way to see it is like the SCP Foundation - there's no real premise for what's canon or not, anyone can write stories about anything and include what they want. In the Undertale AU Multiverse's case (which is a mouthful to say - I'll refer to it as the UM from now on) there is a premise for canon, though very loosely as it is a multiverse.
There is no strict basis for how to order it for a detailed timeline, so sadly I won't be able to date anything. However, I will still be making a detailed timeline for the sake of putting everything in timeline order (as timeline-order-y as the UM can get, at least). There are certain characters in the UM called "Out!Codes" which don't have designated universes and the most accepted take on a multiversal story is Underverse, so I will only be including things that are referenced in Underverse or included Out!Codes. If I were to map out every fanfiction written for Undertale, it would take years.
I will also be including popular ATs that weren't directly referenced in Underverse, since they are what are commonly associated as the 'quintessential' ATs eg Horrortale, Bad Time Trio, etc.
I will not include anything that doesn't have canon content on it. For example, while Underswap is a large AU that is massively referenced in Underverse, there is no strict basis for that counts as "canon" for Underswap, so I won't include it on the timeline. However, I will be including Underfell as there is one specific video for Underfell that gets referenced in Underverse (despite Underfell being similar to Underswap in premise) - this is the only Underfell content that will be added.
