X-Men Cinematic Universe - Timeline (Revised & Original)

Okay, the XCU timeline is up to date. Let me know if any changes need to be made.

Also, gave The Gifted an "Unknown Timeline" label since many are undecided on where it should belong..

????
The Gifted 1x08, "threat of eXtinction" (0:01:18 - 0:41:28) [Unknown Timeline]
The Gifted 1x09, "outfoX" (0:03:15 - 0:43:17) [Unknown Timeline]
The Gifted 1x09, "outfoX" (0:43:56 - 0:45:13) [Unknown Timeline]
The Gifted 1x10, "eXploited" (0:03:55 - 0:43:19) [Unknown Timeline]
The Gifted 1x11, "3 X 1" (0:03:03 - 0:42:32) [Unknown Timeline]

I had this as April.

You're right that it's a different universe, but that's how the Marvel Multiverse works.

Each act of time travel creates a new reality that spins out of the point of divergence. It doesn't create a whole new history.
Jean is around 9 or 10 in The Last Stand's opening scene in the mid-80s. She's in her mid-teens in Apocalypse which was early 80s.

She was born in 1973 in one reality, and born the late 60s in another.
A small error, in my opinion. Simply a retcon into a 19 year old. The only problem is one that all the new films have, and people don't question whether Dark Phoenix is in the same timeline as X-Men: First Class.

Look at how Days of Future Past is presented. Wolverine woke up in his past self, not a similar world of another version of him. I don't recall Marvel universes working like that episode in Smallville where Clark swaps places with his Earth-2 (heh) doubleganger.

When Shadowcat sends someone back in any circumstance, do they now exist in another alternative universe that also happens to have the same Sentinel apocalypse?

What about the events of X-Men: First Class? Are you assuming that film is in both histories?

Why does Earth-10005 get erase if Earth-TRN414 (Temporal Reality Number) isn't an alternative timeline that replaced it?

Read my comment in the MAU Timeline thread. I've thrown that idea out for the most part.

I'm just rambling/overthinking for whatever reason. o_O

That's fine. I enjoy discussions about continuity errors. I enjoy trying to fix them too, so the X-Men franchise is a gold mine for annoying errors. I just disagreed with you on your interpretation on the time travel regarding the X-Men universe(s). I think it works decently for the Marvel Animated Universes, old and current.

I guess what I was saying with that was that Earth-8096, Earth-12041 and Earth-17628 all referenced each other in some way. Maybe all or most of the major events from those three happened but occurred in different ways that make them incompatible with each other.

But don't look at it as one uniform continuity.

Professor X is referenced.
"Yeah, it's there – they talk about Professor X and those things, but it doesn't have cameos from anyone or anything like that."
I wonder if Magik will refer to Colossus in the film.

I don't know why it took me so long, but I'm going to add the post credit scenes from Deadpool 2 by Saturday.

Do you know when Ryan Reynolds would approximately get the script to Green Lantern?

Note: My personal belief is that it occurs in 2009 and 2010 of the Revised Timeline, with inspiration by Matties Wade Wilson Jr. Theory, which I could go in-depth with relating to X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Cable's time travel, but this is just for Deadpool as a standalone world on "this" timeline.

On Deadpool, I'd note everything after Vanessa's death as a "Partially Altered Timeline" and the future as "Cable's Timeline". The events of the film still occured after the credits, he just has a different motive than Vanessa, pahaps convincing himself he deserves a child. He probably didn't end up in the prison, just saw Russel on the news and formed the X-Force. Cable's time travel device allows for precise timeline changes without altering the timeline dramatically. The only thing he'd change is that his family doesn't die.

I'm watching X2: X-Men United, and at 0:11:29, the news has "05. 22 .14" on it. I don't know if this can be taken as a date, and contradicts 25 Moments and The Gifted, assuming that those are canon. Task Industries seized the X-Mansion in 2010. The Gifted is confirmed to take some stuff from the films canon, but that's it. Taking what's on-screen, it fits the OG Timeline, but I guess we'll never know.

Pahaps May 22nd, 2004.

Just to summarise my thoughts on Deadpool, You don't have to include it, this is just my opinion, but I strongly tie it towards the Revised Timeline because of various ties to the film series. This is just my own take, of course!

Connections
  1. Ryan Reynolds plays Wade Wilson.
  2. The X-Mansion is the same set from the Original Trilogy.
  3. Hugh Jackman is the Wolverine of the Deadpool films, appearing on a serial box, a poster in No Good Deed and in the after-credits scene of Deadpool 2.
  4. The Fox X-Men appear in Deadpool 2.
  5. The Essex Corporation owns the Orphanage in Deadpool 2 after a short reference in X-Men: Apocalypse that leads into Logan.
  6. Deadpool specifically references James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart as Professor X.
Contradictions
  1. Colossus seemingly can't change back to his organic form yet is seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past as a normal looking dude in 2023.
  2. Wade is seen killed by himself in a scene that looks like X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It should be noted that this doesn't mean X-Men Origins: Wolverine occurred, only a battle between "Wade" and James Howlett.
  3. Wade should be hitting 70 in modern day.
I don't count characters being born after 1973 as a contradiction.

Colossus
He was born after 1973, so his appearance and accent can be different easily. Pahaps his mutation developed naturally in the Revised Timeline and he was not altered by the Chernobyl incident as he was in the Original Timeline. He was likely raised in America in the Original Timeline, maintaining an American accent because of it.

On his appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past, he can transform, he just doesn't want to. In Logan and Dark Phoenix, we see that the X-Men have become celebrities, which is also in Deadpool 2. Colossus is seen in the Logan comic in his metal form. Pahaps he does it to boost his ego and the overall public opinion of the X-Men, especially after Jean Grey killed a mutant icon. He could just like feeling strong. In 2023, however, he feels more confident, even maintaining a relationship with Kitty Pryde.

Deadpool('s?)
There are two options to explain the discrepancies here. Either the Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the same character or he isn't.

Same Character
In this scenario, Wade Wilson's powers were triggered in 1973 between the events of Trask's assassination and Striker's team assault in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in the Original Timeline, and he was never a proper mutant. Wade's mutant powers are random, and he was chosen for Weapon XI for this reason, having the potential for multiple powers at the same time.

In the Revised Timeline, using the Year of the Dog, we can place Deadpool in 1994-1996, Deadpool 2 in 1997 and No Good Deed in 1999. This is so that his age is consistent with the previous films. Technology and media simply evolved quicker, and films like Taken 2 and Blade: Trinity were released sooner. No Good Deed faces the potential problem of contradicting this, stating that Phone Booths disappeared in '98, but theres no reason it can't take place after Deadpool 2. This also explains the young X-Men, although Fox most likely considers them a recast instead of younger versions by Dark Phoenix. You could even say that that X-Men: Apocalypse Skye Fibre ad fits into canon because of this.

On Wade's murder of his previous self, pahaps Cable's time travel is similar to the Quantum Realm in that it allows you to travel to closely related universes, and he simply created another divergent timeline that spins off the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in another timeline.

Deadpool is the Son of Weapon XI?
In this scenario, Deadpool takes place in 2007-2009, No Good Deed in 2009 and Deadpool 2 in 2010, all based on the Year of the Dog.

Wade Wilson mentions his father leaving him when he was young. This could be because he was forced into becoming the Revised Timeline iteration of Weapon XI. While both Wade Wilson I and Wolverine had a fight, that doesn't prove that all of X-Men Origins: Wolverine occurred in the Revised Timeline or that the fight even happened during the Three Mile Island incident. It could have happened in 1979 before Logan was captured and seen in 1983 or after his escape in 1983. Wade goes back in time to kill his father who he hates.

This assumes that Cable's time travel is more controlled. Essentially, even though they stopped Russel from being a murderer, Cable's future still happened, only his family were never murdered. It blocks the butterfly effect while allowing specific changes. Further support of this is how Vanessa was saved yet Wade still forms X-Force to stop Russel and saves Peter, albeit with a different motive instead of Vanessa's death.

Of course, the upcoming The New Mutants is confirmed canonical too.

New Mutants is in the definitely in the X-Men universe now due to some references (which I won't spoil) to Logan and Apocalypse.

Hopefully people will stop saying Logan is an alternate timeline, then.
Though I suppose it could be Cable's future dystopian timeline if they wanted, but nothing suggests that, so no reason for that to be the case.

Deadpool 2 has a 12-28-20 date on the Hero Flakes box, with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine on it. This would presumably be an expiry date, placing the film in 2018-2019. However, it's a small piece of text. Does the Year of the Dog overwrite it or it the Year of the Dog?

I suppose you could put the film in 2009, using the Year of the Dog, and assume 2020 is an in-universe production error. Semi-large assumption to make, of cause.
Personally, I guess I'll just say he's in his 20s in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, late 50s in Deadpool...
