Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

CBR talks to Bendis about NA #31

It's very similar to the Newsarama article, but it gives a little more away in terms of what's been planted prior to this and what is to come later this year. Despite the spelling mistakes, I think it's a better read.

And it got me pumped for the coming months. Bendis says he's got this totally mapped out, so lets hope for good storytelling rather than "Current USM storytelling."

I totally agree, even though I don't believe that this has been mapped out for a long time. I don't even care about that, but don't lie to us about it.

I'm geeked. The possibility that the Skrulls are on some weird quasi-relgious quest to covertly conquer Earth...that is a billion times more interesting than Civil War.

And the idea that Jessica Jones or Luke Cage could possibly be under cover Skrulls...awesome.

I love the "everything you know is wrong" stories when they are done right. And like he pointed out in the interview, it's also cool that it gets you to look back at older comics with a new interest.

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

The CBR article said:
While the Skrulls have been lurking in the shadows of the Marvel Universe for an indeterminate number of years now, readers shouldn't think the shapeshifters have had their hands in everything. "People who spent good money on 'Civil War' and now 'World War Hulk' can rest assured -- as promised that those events happened unto themselves," Bendis confirmed. "There's no sinister doings that we did not reveal. Whatever the plan afoot is for the Skrull Empire 'Civil War' certainly helped it. They let it happen. They were sort of like, 'Oh you guys want to beat the **** out of each other?' Go ahead.' This was the case with 'House of M' and stuff that I wrote like 'Secret War.' Those events happened but what they did was represent a time and place for the Skrulls to implement their plan, whatever that plan is. The Marvel Universe at its most divided and divisive certainly is one of a lesser strength."
That's all I care about. Carry on.

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

Commander Hill = a Skrull. I call it.

That is why she is extra grumpy that Stark stole her job.

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

Okay, with the baby, this is my only acceptable conclusion to all the baby stuff...

Skrull impersonating Luke Cage got Jessica Jones Pregnant, because jessica HAD been sleeping with Luke Cage lately, it wasn't a big leap for Luke Cage to believe he was the father. So they're all fighting about one or the other being a skrull, when the baby was just the easiest way to infiltrate the Avengers, and NEITHER of them are Skrulls.

I have to believe that Bendis cares enough about Jessica and Luke Cage that he wouldnt turn them into skrulls.

He'll just turn them into Peter Parker clones instead.

You know, Jessica Jones really came out of nowhere as far as the readership is concerned... And he job used to be gathering information on people, commonly drawn into the super-set... It wouldn't be completely out of left field for her to be a deep cover skrull...

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

That would just be Bendis pissing all over his best comic, ever... he does that, I'm going to just pretend that the Bendis who wrote Alias and Daredevil is dead.

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

Y'know, call me crazy, but I think the baby part was just to get guys like us all fired up about our favorite hero-couple, when really, it was just put in there by Bendis to sort of say "Anyone could be a Skrull, even the baby!" Me, I don't think the baby is now Skrull just because we saw the eyes light up all green like that. It reminded me of John Scwartzwelder's Simpsons endings, where he'd always set up some crazy insane plot cliffhanger at the end of an episode that was just there as a -- I don't want to say joke in the case of NA, but in the case of the Simpsons, yes, I guess -- joke that would never be referenced again in the series. Like DUN DUN DUN! The Koala hitched a ride with The Simpsons and is going to The States with them! That kind of thing.

But hey, we'll see, right?

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

I swear to god...I'm going to punch Bendis in the mouth.

Idiot's making Ohio look bad.

I really, really doubt he'd do something like that. That's something I'd expect to see in Nextwave.

Ohio looked bad waaaay before Bendis. That your cops are all *******s is a large part of that. :D

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

Can a skrull totally impersonate a person AND their abilities? There's no way wolverine is a skrull. He dies every issue.

That is exactly what makes me think that Elektra hasn't been a skrull since her first death. You can't fake her crazy ninja-ness.

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

Hahah.

This is what you people get for reading Bendis.

Yes, he's dead...

AND HE'S BEEN REPLACED BY A SKRULL!!

OMG!!

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

I'm glad. Now we can retcon Captain marvel and in that instance maybe Tony really is a Skrull trying to infiltrate one of his skrull buddies as a dead hero who had one of the most meaningful deaths ever! bastards.

He was a Skrull one time, but said Skrull was killed by the real Wolverine who at the time was Apocalypse's horseman Death.

Yes, he's dead...

OMG!!

OMFG!

They're not *******s everywhere else?

Well not in Candyland. Duh.
