Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

And you think a 12 year old who picks it up will tell the difference?

Well it's not like they used it in a positive light unlike with smoking witch is use to make a character look badass.

I mean he turned into a monster because he was a junkie.

The point is he was using drugs and whatnot. Marvel doesn't even want to show people smoking, so they shouldn't show people doing drugs.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

So I got issues 546-549 (and 555) out of the ten-for-a-dollar box and they were really really good. I even went out and bought 550-551. I would've got all of them, but they didn't have 552.

Anyway, what I read was awesome. I don't know if I trust Gale, as his Aunt May story in 546 was the worst part, but I'll give it a shot.

The book is fun, and I love the presentation. Why couldn't they do this years ago, and why can't they do this with a married Spider-Man? There's no excuse for the book ever losing its sense of fun.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

Is anyone else getting fed up of the current trend of "Oooh quick, new issue, means we have to create another 20 new villains this week that noone will care about or even remember the names of in 2 years time!"?

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

To be honest, I have to say no. It's not really bothering me at all. I've really been enjoying the series more than ever since BND started.

No. I like the new villains so far.

Not at all.

Anything's better than yet another Green Goblin story where he shows up and goes, "Bah. I killed Gwen Stacey twenty years ago" as he did in Millar's ridiculous run.

No one minded when JMS kept inventing a new villain each arc.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

Brand New Day was the most horrible act of editorial fanboy-ism since Alex Ross refused to draw Kyle Rayner due to his love of Hal Jordan. Joey Q really dropped the ball on that one.

On the other hand, BONG! has now become my favorite sound effect.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

It doesn't feel like a new villain very arc though, its more a new villain every issue or so.

Freak is... interesting, but the whole evolves to be immune to whatever killed/nearly killed him thing only serves to make me think of a poor mans Doomsday on meth.

Menace seemed like just a way to get a Goblin type character into the book without having a Goblin.

Mr Negative has been the only villain who could prove to be halfway decent.

The stories are good, I just find the villains kinda dull.

Spider-Man

Looks like either Spider-Man or Venom is a skrull...

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

Especially since the name is retarded.

Venom's supposed to be the anti-Spider-Man so by that logic, the Anti-Venom is Spider-Man.

It's lazy art, lazy concepts, and lazy writing.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

If the name's supposed to be just Anti-Venom and his power is to cure people, then yeah. But it looks like Negative Man got the symbiote on him and it made....ANTI-VENOM!

Which is lame.

It's Slott, though, so i'll give him a pass.

Gale, no such leniency.

Look out! Here comes the ANTI-MOLE!!!!

OH MY GOD.

Post of the Day.

That is awesome.

I don't think it looks too bad, and like Dan I'll give Slott a pass because he's been good on ASM.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

So is he really called Anti-Venom or is it net guys saying it because he's a photo negative of Venom?

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

**** you, Marvel.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

You guys are out of your minds. One picture of a character and you're freaking out? Jesus.
Not this picture. All of BND. They go out of their way not to use old villains, so instead they create subpar copies of old villains and try to pass them off as new ideas.

New Kingpin. New Goblin. New Venom. Is it that hard to have one ****ing original idea?

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

Even if Alan Moore was writing the Anti-Venom it would be a stupid idea.

But there are constant references in the book to the character being Goblin-like, and I'm sure there will be constant references to Venom. Eddie Brock is in the book.

BND has been great.

Having Batman and Joker share a laugh is a stupid idea no matter what, but people defend that because the Great Alan Moore wrote it.
