So did anyone else check this out? We had a decent first issue. Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman meet up in Keystone city to discuss a dream that each of them had a variation of. The dream was slightly altered, or possibly just their perception of it, to fit their backgrounds. They meet up with Wally and the kids to find out if he had a variation (he didn't) and decide to look into it themselves. We also had a backup with a similar story using Morgan LeFaye and who I think is a new guy named Enigma, who I quite liked, but without their third. They use Magic/metaphysics/plot device to find who their third is. Its Despro and they're off to find him.

I liked it, and I'm hoping that it stays fairly self contained. I'll be on board as long as it does.

I've heard it's all self-contained. And god-dammit, i liked it... I really wanted not to like it.

Here we go again with these damned weeklies.

It's that good? Really?

Goddammit....

52 came out right when I was starting to read comics again. In fact, it was what got me into the comics shop, and subsequently, it was good enough that it kept me coming back every week or two, and buying a lot of books, simply because I was there. Then Countdown came around, and I really managed to pare my list down significantly.

And now you're telling me Trinity is excellent? Dammit...

It's not excellent yet. But the potential is there, and it is undeniably very good.

I think it's because, the fact of the matter is that the relationship between Bruce, Clark, and to a lesser-extent, Diana, is one of the most interesting devices in the DC universe. It's a shame that Batman/Superman isn't as good as it could be...

The last Apokolips arc with Bekka of the New Gods was awesome. I thought so anyway. Mainly cause the interaction between Bekka and Batman.

See, I'm not terribly excited by the Clark/Bruce relationship. It's good, sure, but it's been played to death.

I think Diana adds something magical. She's a hard character to grasp in a solo book, sometimes, but as an icon, and as an integral third of that core relationship, she's essential. She adds perspective to the sometimes over-polarized perspectives of Clark and Bruce.

I'm a little put off by the fact that it's like 1/2 a comic each week. So by the end of the year it'll be a 26 issue story not a 52 issue one. Isn't that the standard amount of issues for your typical crossover? about 3 issues in each of:
Action comics
Superman
Superman confidential
Superman and batman
batman
detective comics
batman confidential
wonder woman

with maybe a couple of book ends...not saying it should be done like that, and I think it's quite fun to have a weekly - it's more like watching a TV show. Just making the comparison volume wise.

Well the backup seems to be used for what would otherwise just be scene transitions here. If this was a normal crossover we'd have just gotten the same amount of information distributed through the book as one story instead of segregating it, and that was most likely done to keep less pressure on Bagely. If they keep the backup as a relevant part of the story then you're getting a full comic every week. Just told differently.

I checked it out but I don't know if I'm interested enough to follow it for 52 weeks... I think I'll pass this time.

Issue 2 was still solid. The backup happened at the same time and linked up with the main story at its ending. The main did feel a little off, but I loved the title/line "Personal Best at Giant Robot Smashing"

I wanna know why Stewart was exhibiting Guy Gardner's former Warrior powers.

I'd chalk it up to more of the oddities from the main but if thats connected to the dreams from the first issue then it shouldn't be affecting non-trinity members.

Maybe he and Guy have a dark, dark secret.

JOHN GOT A BLOOD TRANSFUSION FROM GUY!

I just read the first two issues. It's pretty good so far. I've said before the Trinity dynamic has been awesome since Infinite Crisis, so a whole series of it should be fun.

I like how they're using the backups. DSF is right, it's just the same as if it was one whole story, only instead of intercutting it's just split up. It's really pretty smart.

And Bagley seems to be energized doing big time scifi action and not just kid Spider-Man comics anymore. He fits in perfect with DC's "generic" style that turns a lot of people off, but I love. It'll be weird to see Marvel fan's reactions to him here, since he was a big star there even though he's not "Marvel cool."
