Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. discussion (spoilers)

Ahh, ok, thanks. I missed a bit of the start getting something to eat.

I forgot about Kraken appearing.

Then you also probably missed what appeared to be the blue man in a crate in the 1940's

I was really impressed with the Absorbing Man effects

Yeah they were pretty decent. I loved the scene where he started swinging around the ball and chain. That was a great nod to the comic version.

Also, looks like Creel may be sticking around for awhile, since he's a good foil for the team, seems intelligent and well-versed with his powers, and is a go-to guy for Hydra (though of a completely mercenary mindset, not buying into the Hydra loyalty motif).

and the Fitz reveal was absolutely heartbreaking.

Yeah. Poor Fitz. He needs that monkey now more than ever.

That was well handled, though. I wonder just where Simmons ended up going to? Guess we'll find out in a future episode. The sooner the better. Simmons is so damn hot.

Also, Xena's dead one episode in? Unexpected, and a little disappointing. I was hoping her getting her arm cut off towards the end would lead to her getting a cool robot arm and being a nod to some obscure Marvel character or something.

I'm imagining since Whitehall was shown in the 40s we'll be seeing more of the 40s as the series progresses. I had a feeling they would tie Agent Carter in with this.

I wouldn't necessarily expect more 1940's era scenes or Carter to appear again, least not until the mid-season break. I mean, they already set up what they needed to with that opening. If there is more 1940's flashback scenes, it'll be toward the mid-season break as a segue into Agent Carter starting (which is a very real possibility).

It'll be interesting to see how it all ties into Age of Ultron.

Well, we know Hydra will play some role in Age of Ultron, likely as dupes for Ultron. So I'm sure they'll tie AoS to the film through the Hydra thread, and possibly even set up SHIELD's return by the end of the season to offer support to the Avengers in the film itself. Maybe, maybe not. We'll see.

The guy at the end, Wendell- only person in the Marvel Universe that I know of with that name is Quasar.

What wyo said.

But Wendell Vaughan/Quasar is a likely possibility to eventually show up on AoS. After all, he started out as just a grunt SHIELD agent in the comics before putting on the armbands. I could definitely see them introducing the Vaughan character in a later season (assuming the show lasts that long) and discovering the armbands and gaining the super powers, maybe to set up an appearance of cameo for the character in GotG2. That would require the show lasting to at least Season 4, though.

Also, while the episode didn't outright confirm it, it was heavily implied Koenig is an LMD, since Tripp mentioned Koenig kept saying he had numerous brothers.

Also, the blue guy in the crate at the beginning in the 1945 scene was obviously the Kree they used to revive Coulson, so apparently the Kree have been coming to Earth for awhile (or at least that one did).

Which excites me for the fact that whenever Marvel does an Inhumans movie, this while tie into that, since the Kree have been coming to Earth for so long experimenting on the people (in the comics history, which I'm sure they will also establish as the same in the MCU).

First look at Bobbi Morse,
the head of Hydra Security!
SAY WHAT!?

She'll debut in the October 21st episode,
"A Hen in the Wolf House."

It's those kind of nods I really appreciate. They could have really made this stupid by having him be an ex-worker at a company called Ball and Chain or have him have a wife he hates...

I know it's probably not going to happen, but I'd love for Mark Ruffalo to show up or Creel to show up in Avengers 2 to fight Hulk. Lee's film did Absorbing Man terribly.

I wonder if Simmons is working for Fury. He's gotta show up at some point right?

It's never too late! She could easily return! Plus I wonder if this is the same Isabelle as Hand's Isabelle from the comic.

You think Kraken might be the big bad for Agent Carter?

I wonder if Strucker will appear this season. Maybe Loki's staff? I'd love it if the staff gave Creel his powers and then they bring in The Wrecking Crew.

Yup, most likely.

I doubt Creel will show up in Avengers 2 or 3. Maybe, but with all the Ultron stuff in Avengers 2, and the Infinity Gauntlet/Thanos stuff in Avengers 3 (and the likely inclusion of the GotG in that film) I doubt there'll be room.

Plus, I doubt Creel would present much challenge at all for this interpretation of Hulk. I mean, maybe Creel could absorb Hulk's skin and be just as invulnerable, but he wouldn't gain the same strength, which still puts Hulk at a major advantage.

Though that could be kind of fun. Hulk keeps punching Creel through buildings and gets pissed since it's not having much affect, and resorts to trying to drown Creel... who just turns into water and gets away.

Sigh, I want to watch this so badly, but I'm currently working through season one with my wife. We're only 12 episodes in so I won't get to watch the premiere for probably another maybe two weeks!

On the plus side, my wife really likes the show and she's watched all the movies with me too. :)

Robbie Baldwin (aka Speedball and Penance) will make is debut in AoS, maybe in the same episode of Mockingbird. He will played by actor Fran Krantz( who did some works with Whedon in the last years (Cabin in the Woods, Much Ado About Nothing)). sources: his twitter (but he deleted his message) and here: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/91271279.html

Cool. Yeah, they definitely are responding to viewers complaints about the lack of enough Marvel comic characters in season 1. Just the first four episodes alone have Absorbing Man/Creel, Donnie Gill/Blizzard (returning from season 1), Mockingbird, and Robbie Baldwin/Speedball? Wow.

Just got to watch the premiere. We don't have cable in my new apartment yet so I had to wait for it to hit online. However, as part of not having cable I've started watching Heroes and now I can't stop thinking Talbot can fly.

He can't?

Heroes is probably the only thing worse than Agents of SHIELD.

If Keonig does end up being an LMD I wonder if Ultron will take control of him. That'd be very Whedon. Especially an army of them.

Really good episode. I liked that they really furthered Fitz's story along and gave him a buddy. Coulson is back to being Coulson again but that carving scene was pretty damn creepy. Really happy to see them putting focus back on that. They've really improved a lot since last season and they're juggling a lot of balls now. I'm curious to see if this will be like the most recent seasons of the Marvel Universe shows and there will be story arcs or if it really is serialized completely now. Hunter and Mac really got fleshed out and are pretty great additions to the team. Just wish Lucy Lawless could have stayed. Overall it was just a really good episode though. Next episode looks absolutely insane.
