I'm looking forward to the inevitable cameos of Howard Stark and the Howling Commandos. Hoping we might even see Farnsworth take up the mantle of Union Jack, both as a sort of nod to the loss of Captain America and a jingoistic symbol of England and the Allies victory over the Axis powers and Hydra.

And of course hoping to see the seeds laid for Hydra's infiltration of SHIELD and other aspects of American industry and government.

It has been confirmed that the first season of Agent Carter will be eight episodes long. So filling in the gap of the mid season break sounds pretty likely.

Here's the official description of the show:
It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.

Eight episodes? Wow, that's essentially an extended mini-series. Not complaining though, as that allows them to focus on making 8 really good episodes instead of 8-9 good ones with 8-9 mediocre ones and a few more terrible ones (like AoS's first season did).

And January 2015 is the premiere. Not surprising since it was confirmed as a mid season replacement, but it's nice to have a firm date (or at least month) for it's premiere.

;)

I always appreciate a free plug.

So there's the other roles in the series (Carter's supporting cast).

All seem to be original characters created for the show, which hopefully means we'll see Dum Dum Dugan and the other Howling Commandos (at least some of them) and Howard Stark appear at some point across the 8 episodes.

Also really hoping one of those roles is an undercover Hydra agent, which will help set up Hydra's infiltration of SHIELD that happened in CA-TWS and AoS.

While they may be original they could be connected. Jack Thompson could easily be related to Flash Thompson and Marvel could so get away with that, Edward Hutchins could be related to Ralph Hutchins (who gained powers from She-Hulk's blood way back in David Anthony Kraft's run on Savage She-Hulk), Daniel Sousa could be related to the Daily Bugle's Paul Sousa, and Angie Martinelli could be related to Vic Martinelli of Stark International.

That's possible, but in most of those cases it'd be pointless since the MCU can't mention the Daily Bugle (Sony owns the rights), nor mention or connect to Flash Thompson for the same reason. The rest could be possible, but it seems pointless.

So the Pilot episode is directed by Louis D'Esposito. The second and third episodes will be directed by the Russo brothers, who knocked it out of the park with CA-TWS so I'm excited for those. And CA-TFA director Joe Johnston, may be directing episode four.

That's pretty cool. It's nice they're using the film directors on some of the episodes. Really looking forward to this.

Apparently Agent Carter will also introduce Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark's butler who would later go on to tutor Tony as a child/young man. This ties in well with the AI Jarvis (serving as a way of showing why Tony patterned the AI after the man), as well as reinforces the flashback portions of the Iron Man 2 - Public Enemies comic where the human Jarvis appears. Pretty cool.
