**** you people. You have one ****ing job. Make a movie out of a comic about family and the joy and wonder of exploration and invention. If this is real then they've made laziest possible option at every turn. Reed might be unrelatable? **** it, He's Spider-Man now. Sue as his equal? Nah, party girl who hates science.

Susan Storm hates science.

It sounds like Ben and Johnny are just along for ride which... isn't too far off actually. But they've ****ed up Reed, Sue and Doom. At this point why make the movie? Is this just to piss marvel off? We have your characters and we're going to **** on them and there's nothing you can do about it!
 
At this point I can't wait to see it.

And the writer called the summary "bull****". Even though it goes along with what has already been confirmed about Doom.

Yeah, if this came out before the casting I would have laughed and probably would have made a crack about Latino Review needing new writers. Now though, 100% possible.
 
Hmmm I'm a corporate video maker by day. I don't care how posses off this exec supposedly is. Disney have a VERY strong history of squeezing their assets for all they are worth. I mean how many marvel projects are there over the next 5 years? 8 movies? 8 tv shows?

My point being the idea that they work ever abandon their characters seems very unlikely to me. This looks more like a negotiation tactic to get the FF back. Frankly with a full run if films set up, I actually wouldn't be surprised if marvel doesn't want them back just yet.

As for the leaked plots and doom as a hacker...I don't buy it either. I bet all of this is just a publicity stunt. The last FF films didn't do great..,
 
I guess we'll be getting a trailer for this sometime in the next 90 days or so right? At this point I just want this thing done with to be honest. As a huge Fantastic Four fan I feel kind of sad. The book had been good for me since Mark Waid (I have enjoyed some of the stuff but nothing that really wowed me) and now James Robinson is making it awesome and full of continuity nods (this is an arc for fans) but it's ending. Then this is coming and everything is pointing to it being a big piece of crap. I honestly want this to be good, but I really don't see it happening.

They'll probably release the trailer during the Super Bowl.
 
This thread at TigerDroppings.com offers some interesting insight into the Fantastic Four reboot, Trank's behavior on set, etc. It may not be true, however given the lack of marketing and the reshoots, it seems at least some of it may be accurate.

Also, the poster RonBurgundy offers some further insight on the bad blood between Marvel/Disney and Fox, specifically how when Fox asked for an extension of the Daredevil film rights contract (I think this was in 2012), Marvel agreed as long as Fox would relinquish the film rights to Silver Surfer and Galactus (possibly so they could be used in Guardians of the Galaxy or another cosmic film, perhaps Captain Marvel or Inhumans). Fox refused, kept the Silver Surfer and Galactus rights, and thus Marvel got Daredevil back.

Apparently, and understandably, Fox was also sore at the fact they lost the rights to all but Ep IV of the Star Wars films when Lucasfilm was bought by Disney.

Anyway, it's an interesting read.

This sounds like a mess of epic proportions.

A buddy of mine was on the crew. Trank showed up to set late or so high he couldn't speak almost everyday. Some days he didn't show up at all. He treated crew terribly. He trashed the house the production company rented for him. From what I'm told he did a couple hundred grand worth of damage.

This is interesting. I didn't Fox still had the rights to Episode IV. I wonder how this might affect future reissues of the films (like box sets).

I believe Fox still retains a certain percentage of the rights to A New Hope, since they originally financed and distributed it. They did so for Empire and RotJ as well, but since ANH was such a huge success Lucas was able to finance those films more through Lucasfilm (I think). Fox has always kept the rights to Episode IV (they'd be insane to give them up), but the rights are minimal, and I don't think it prevents Disney from releasing new box sets or anything, though I may be wrong. Either way, Fox still gets a cut of every DVD/Bluray sold of A New Hope.

There's nothing much of the movie to really judge. Its like 90% generic shots and a voiceover you could almost plop into any other...anything.

I agree, but some of these shots are directly taken from Ultimate Fantastic Four. Some dead on even. I really hope it's not as boringly dark as this is making it (Chronicle took itself FAR too seriously and had really bad character work but hey, it was written by Max Landis, what do you expect?) and that the characters are actually likable (and that the acting is good), but other than that I really dug the heck out of this trailer.

I thought the little tiny teaser and poster were better than the actual Ant-Man trailer.
