Final Crisis series discussion [spoilers]

Re: Final Crisis (SPOILERS!)

It doesn't seem to me that it's a "gap month". From what I can tell, when the delays started hitting, they dropped the whole idea of the gap month. Now they seem to be on a pretty steady month-and-a-half release schedule.

And Carlos Pachecho has been confirmed to be helping Jones.
Well, #4 was coming out in September, but was moved to October.

Re: Final Crisis (SPOILERS!)

The gap month is because The Flashes ran a month into the future so they're letting the comics catch up. The one shots that come out during the missing month will tell what happened, I believe.

So they actually made a story reason for the delay/skip/whatever you want to call it.

Re: Final Crisis (SPOILERS!)

Revelations was good. I hated the idea of a rapist dr. light in the first place, but that picture of himin the first splash. he's ****ing terrifying and just ...i don't know, he reminds me of someone out of sin city, like the yellow bastard or seomthing.

He's been on all the adverts for this, i haven't quite worked out how he's going to figure in the plot...perhaps he comes back as the spectres opposite...like spirit of mercy or something reallly evil.... Also what was that red stuff they tryed to stab renee with?

I read crime bible so had an idea what was going on there. Anything i should read as background for the spectre? I've been meaning to read gotham central for ages, and i've read 52 - anything else that'll tie into the rucka side of the DCU?

Re: Final Crisis (SPOILERS!)

Anyone picked up the Legion tie-in?

I really, really hope Superman succeeds in his bid to reach out to Prime. Prime needs some character development badly.

Also, if Prime is considered a nobody in the 30th century, then why do the Legion of Super-Villains idolize him? Shouldn't they be idolizing Luthor or something?

(And wasn't there an Alexis Luthor in the new Legion cartoon? Someone needs to use that in Legion comics, it's a great idea.)

I love how the first issue of anything johns writes always reveals exactly what the stories gonna be about in the first issue.

Like right at the end of Rogues revenge we got Zoom saying "I'm gonna make you the new kid flash"

and at the end of the Legion tie in superman say "we're gonna have to redeem him"

You think it's only a matter of time until there's a new justice league of ex-supervillains? that would be an interesting evolution...

Man I am stoked for all of this.

I just read Rogue's Revenge #2. Wow!

Johns does a great job of making these villians true villians. These guys are scary. He has a talent for really fleshing out characters but it never feels like it is slowing the story down.

This is really great stuff.

The Superman one (How is he in the future with the Legion, and here as well?) was utterly confusing. But I think I may have figured out what exactly was going on.

So the girl monitor shows up, stops time around Lois so she lives, and recruits Superman to help her. Also there is Overman (Nazi version), Ultraman (Evil one), Captain Atom from another world and Captain Marvel from another world. Their ship is noticed by something and crashes in Limbo. There, they meet a bunch of no names, people who have been forgotten. They go into the library to find out that it contains one book, a book that has everything ever written in it. Superman and Captain Marvel attempt to move the book, but are overpowered by what it tells them, which is the emergence of the multiverse, and the one true Monitor, or something like that. It also informs them of what is chasing them, sort of, I think, anyways, Captain Marvel is reverted back to Billy Batson, and can't remember his name due to Limbo. Superman gets back to the ship to get Captain Atom to help him only to find out that Overman is being feed upon by the girl monitor, who is a vampire? She then tells Superman he's brought the attention of the dark monitor upon them for reading the book. They go outside to find Ultraman holding the book, and the thing that shot them down bearing upon them with Ultraman screaming, "I TOLD YOU SUPERMAN! EVIL ALWAYS WINS!"

Weird.

The Superman one (How is he in the future with the Legion, and here as well?)

I think it involves time travel....The tie-ins don't really seem to tie in very much yet. Apart from the martian manhuter one-shot and this superman one. I figured there was gonna be more following characters in the time jump

edit: how was the graphics was the superman in 3d?

The Superman issue was insane. I used my Black Dossier 3d glasses and they seemed to work fine. The first appearance of Mandrakk the Dark Monitor... scary.

Rogues Revenge is also pretty cool. I like how there is various factions all fighting against each other.

In the beginning ("PREVIOUSLY!" I mean how ****ing great was THAT), there was only one Monitor. It sent out a probe to its universe, that which it was tasked to observe, and found Stories. Since the monitor had no defenses, it was overwhelmed, injured, by drama, conflict, and story itself. The scab it formed over that wound was ****ING SUPERMAN, DUDE. "A doomsday machine engineered by genius to defend us against some ultimate enemy."

This really is the centerpiece, the lynchpin, of Final Crisis, ultimately. It's all about Superman and Superhero Comics.

This is why I find Final Crisis exciting.

Anyone pick up the Last Will and Testament?

It has the best use of Geo-Force ever.

Also, Deathstroke dies.

That was mind blowing awesome. I mean Deathstroke and Geo-Force.

C-List. Brilliant. I love how all these sub-plots is a bunch of different comics just come out of nowhere and are totally awesome.

Say wha now???

I don't gets it.

Okay. So once there was just void, until the void eventually discovers a sort of wound, or portal, and through the portal is a complex organism in which germ-like processes are growing. Anyway, the Void, dubbed Monitor, and it sends a probe into the organism to explore it, and it finds stories. And the void's never encountered stories before because, y'know, it's a void. The germ-like organisms are universes, and they float in some sort of transdimensional magical fluid. Limbo (from Animal Man) is somewhere there in the Bleed, or at the end of the Bleed, or something. And there's a book with an infinite number of pages. Anyway, the probe sees this as an infection, grows scared, retreats back to the void. The wound scabs back over in the shape of Superman. But it's already been infected by the idea of stories, and in a fever, the void creates a history for itself - a god civilization sloping down from the peak of its splendor. But the relic restraining the Bleed still looms over them. They begin to think it's some sort of Doomsday Weapon. And they think the Apocalypse is coming. And some evil Monitor is plotting away.

Oh, and now Superman, Nazi Superman, Evil Superman, and Naked Lunch Alien Superman are cruising through the capillaries of the multiverse in an Earth-sized ship with a vampire Monitor chick. And she sucked all of Nazi Superman's blood because, apparently, Monitors need to feed on stories to sustain themselves in the Bleed.

It's awesome.
