IGN's Top 100 videogames of all time

i don't know, wind waker wasn't as great as ocarina of time or link to the past and i don't think it really did much that made a huge impact. I mean no one even liked it when it first came out. It wasn't until months later when it started getting positive feedback.
That's not true. I had loved it since it's first mention. Looks and all. :p

ok fine you were one of the few but there was alot of backlash and outcry for the games drastic image change, that much i remember. I personally loved it.

true almost any link game for that matter. I can't get enought of the new one on DS. I really did enjoy windwaker and it's probably in my top three if i actually made a list. Also, I think super mario world should have been higher. That was my most favorite game on SNES. Probably even ever. I bought one refurbished just for that game. And halflife 2 better damn well be up there in the top 3 because it seriously did an assload for video games with the whole source engine and the physics/gravity guns.

Phantom Hourglass is pretty kickass. Pretty much any, Nintendo-sanctioned Zelda is. Even the Oracle games, Minish Cap, and Twilight Princess, which are probably the lowest ranked Zelda games for me next to Zelda II.

Personally, I think Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World should have been swapped. I love SMW, but SM3 was a milestone. As for Half-Life 2, it should definitely be in the top 10, but I'm not sure if it'll make top 3. HL2 loses points for having the Sopranos ending syndrome, something it shares with Halo 2.

I hated it because they scrapped the Spaceworld demo for it. Until I actually played it. Then I loved it. And it holds one of the, if not THE, greatest final boss battles in history.

Have you played episode 1 and 2, they continue the story until half life 3 comes out. Very worth playing.

Oh, of course! The Orange Box for the win! But, I'm saying Half-Life 2 on its own. I was seriously disappointed when I first played it.

i was definitely pissed when Gman was done talking. But it was a good cliffhanger imo. Still, i see where your coming from because you just want it to finish which I actually didn't even think they would turn it into a trilogy. And it came out so long after the first one did.

I never liked that game. Beat it once because it's a Zelda game and never played it again.

Nice fighting system though.

I just played that last night! Had an odd craving for 1995 graphics and dumb AI. Still fun if you can get used to the interface which is a bit hard after playing any modern RTS.

HALF-LIFE

BULL****!

I really thought OoT would be first and Half-Life 1 would be second. This game is so great that amazing graphics and the gravity gun are still not enough to make the sequel better than the original.

If only Half-Life 2 had the giant monster fights of HL1.

I liked KOTOR2 but I cannot support it on a top 100 list because for all intents and purposes, it was never finished.
Agreed.

KOTOR 1 was a better game. KOTOR 2 was (going to be) a better story.

It's a Top 100 Games list, therefore KOTOR 1 wins.

The only new NPCs I didn't like were Anton and the wookie (to the point that my dark siders would start off light to get Mara instead).
The Wookiee was pretty forgettable.

But Atton? He's pretty much the plucky source of Han Solo-type humor that always seems to be a necessity in all them Star Wars games. Not so much a bad or unlikable character as he was pretty rote.

However, I will never EVER ever forget his spiel about how he learned to cloud his mind from Force users. That was the most frighteningmly awesome thing about him. "Pure pazaak!"

they just say that, but we mac owners know its true. microsoft is just trying to cover up the truth!!!
Exactly.

Microsoft cannot stomach the truth. It just wouldn't do for one of the most popular characters from an insanely successful X-Box launch product to be inspired by a Mac property.

If Microsoft had its way, it would go back in time and erase Bungie's entire Mac catalog.

I approve of theses

Top ten is completely wrong in my opinion. Several deserve to be there (Super Metroid, Ocarina, maybe Tetris) but not in those spots, and a few others I don't think merit the top ten. The sad part is that I can't think of something to replace them with ;).

I was wondering why Resident Evil 4 and Super Mario 64 weren't on the list!

Two games that I'm surprised didn't make the top 100 at all: Wind Waker, which I've discussed, and Final Fantasy VII. Don't get me wrong, I think FFVII is way overrated. . .but it did deserve to be on that list.

The only game I don't agree with in the top 10 is Civilization. It should have been in the top 30 but top 10? No.

Also, Ocarina should have gotten best game. Super Mario Bros is a great game. . .but to say its the best game of all time? I just don't see it.

Personally, I think Starcraft should have been 10, Super Mario Bros should have been 3, and Ocarina should have been 1. Everything else is fine where they are.

Deserving of its placement. Surprised this was ranked above the original Halo, but glad it was. Very pleasantly surprised at that.

I still play my copy of Super Mario Kart on my SNES. Classic, all around. There was a solid 5 year run where my buddy Peter and I would play that game every day after school...usually for hours. I got damn good at that game cuz of it, Peter even better.

I agree with that. Never played FF3, Half Life 2, or Civilization, though. Have heard lots of good things from friends, etc about them, so won't argue their inclusion. You remember the most important, though, Super Metroid. It should be higher on the list, though, at least in the top 5.
