Actually, it says the level's by Coursebot, who's a recurring character in the Mario Maker Series. If every Nintendo level says 'by Coursebot' I'll say it's just a game mechanic, I'll go check though

Kamek is a miniboss which definitely doesn't happen in any other depiction of Super Mario Bros. You can play as Peach in that level too, and I'd say that's just a game mechanic but they're only unlockable once you travel to the mushroom kingdom, so clearly Peach isn't captured. The Bowser fight is also... above ground? However... I can't think of any other way to place this narratively, so I guess this is post Mario Bros., pre Super Mario Bros. I'll move the sports games to before Mario Bros.
That's fair I guess. Also not Kamek just a regular magikoopa since Kamek didn't meet Mario again until RPG. There's regular magikoopas in Mario World and stuff so it doesn't have to be him. I still think the level is just meant to reference both games as like a depiction and not be an "actual" event if that makes sense

The story mode levels in Mario Maker 2 are quote unquote made 'by Coursebot' so I'm honestly leaning more towards 'Did Somebody Call a Plumber' being an interlude level between the two. I'll leave Mario Maker where it is on the simplified timeline, but I'll move that level (and any others that'd need moving) to their respective placements on the detailed timeline

Yeah. I think having Mario Bros directly lead into Super Mario Bros is just cool story wise and works as a good origin story for the more fantastical era of the Mario series. Especially since Mario Bros arcade doesn't have an "ending" the events depicted in the back half of Did somebody call a plumber just makes sense to me to show that it just leads directly to the beginning of Super Mario Bros.

Btw while I think most of the remakes replace the originals in canon (or go alongside them) I think the Mario 3 remake on GBA can be considered separate events technically. Everyone knows Mario 3 is considered a play (based on true events since later games reference it as having actually happened) the NES game has various stage play elements like platforms screwed into the background or a stage right section at the end of the levels. But the GBA remake removes most of those elements so I think you can have it so the GBA remake happens first as the true events and then Super Mario Bros 3. NES/SNES goes afterwards as a play based off of it.

Also while talking about this. It should be noted that Mario 2 is not just a dream, it's a dream world. We know dream worlds exist due to Dream Team and stuff. And the Satellaview sequel BS Super Mario USA has the cast transported to Subcon physically rather than through dreaming which proves it was all real and not "just a dream"

I am aware of all this. The game Mario 2 reskinned actually explains how it works as a sort of dream realm. It's still a dream, despite BS Super Mario USA

Some of the GBA remakes have Extra levels, Mario 3 added a bunch of E Reader exclusive levels set on an e shaped island.

Mario 2s remake on GBA added a Mechabirdo boss fight

There's probably more I don't know about
