SuperHeroHype:
Starting in October, Marvel will launch one new series every week through February 2013. Expect to see new titles, new costumes, and all new numbers on these series. Take note that the difference between this and the DC reboot though is this isn't an entire overhaul, just a relaunching of characters/series.

The short list of confirmed titles are Avengers, said to be written by Jonathan Hickman with over 18 members on the team, X-Men, written by Brian Michael Bendis dealing with the original five X-Men time traveling to present day, and The Uncanny Avengers, which will have a roster including Cap, Wolverine, Thor, Rogue, Havok, and others.

Entertainment Weekly:
To answer your questions: Yes, this is Jean Grey — as in, the Jean Grey who's been absent from Marvel Comics ever since dying for a second time back in the mid-'00s. And yes, she is modeling her vintage blue-and-yellow X-Men outfit from her Marvel Girl days. Does this mean that the fan-favorite character is finally returning? We can only confirm that her presence in the Marvel Universe will not be imaginary. This will not be part of the Ultimate line-up. She will not be a zombie hologram, like Shard on X-Factor. What could this all mean? Check back tomorrow, when all the secrets will be revealed. (Or some of them, anyhow.)

I'm kind of intrigued by the original X-Men time traveling to the modern day, and optimistically I wonder if this means huge changes in the X-Men. Of course, at the same time I realize this is foolish of me to think that way, and realize that all of this will be undone in time for the next big event.

I'm a little geeked by Hickman and Ribic on Avengers but not about the rumored lineup including Havok and Rogue. WHY on earth would you put those nobodies on the flagship book? Put your popular characters on it.

I pretty much like the creative teams as they are and don't like the rumored shuffling around. I like Matt Fraction but Fantastic Four has been so good for so long and I don't really want that kind of change up on it.

But...I'm reserving final judgement until the official news is out.

I'm assuming Havoc and Rogue will be in Uncanny Avengers, which is rumored to be written by Remender and mash up X-Men and Avengers characters.

Wait, for real?

Yeah, it was revealed (from what I saw on CBR) in the last issue of Battle Scars or whatever it was called, where they also brought in Agent Coulson into the Marvel U.

There's already three avengers titles and three x-men titles... And the regular Avengers series is going to be bi-weekly. As I've said elsewhere, this is the kind of thing that prevents me from branching out and trying the new titles.

Read the ones that sound interesting and have creative teams that appeal to you?

Silly human. You imply that they don't cross titles over and reference major relevant plot points in other books.

Honestly? For the most part I don't have trouble following titles, and if I don't like a cross-over, I'll skip it.

While it's irritating, I think the argument of cross-continuity making books unreadable is a little overblown.

It doesn't make them unreadable, but I think if Marvel focused on writing fewer books, making them self-contained with less crossovers, and doing them well, their overall quality would go up and I would be more likely to try different books. I don't illegally download new comics, so I'm paying for what I read. I'm not willing to spend $4.00 on a comic I'm unsure of if I'm only going to get part of - or even most of - a story.

So I'm fairly tempted by the bi-weekly Avengers book by Hickman. If its 2.99 I'll be in. at $3.99 I'm less certain.

EDIT: Well, if Uncanny Avengers is 3.99 I can't see the core Avengers book being 2.99. I'm still awful tempted...

And didn't Quesada say that new books will not be priced at $3.99? Heh.

I hope Wolverine and the X Men goes back to what it was like before all this nonsense. The whole event has stopped me from reading it. I was thinking about collecting it in paperback, but not going to bother if it changes.

After this event, Bendis will be taking reins on the book and it will be getting a name change.

It's now going to be called New Wolverine and the Spider-Men (Featuring Luke Cage).

I'm excited.
