Tim Burton is pairing up with Disney to direct two 3-D pics, "Alice in Wonderland" and "Frankenweenie."

Two-movie deal with Walt Disney Studios begins with "Alice in Wonderland," which will combine performance-capture imagery, currently seen in "Beowulf," with live-action footage.

I just checked an this is official , too many sites are reporting it , for it not to be real.

I honestly love Tim Burton movies and think this could be awesome with him doing Alice in Wonderland it will hopefully be darker and more mature while still keeping the "disney" vibe

Frankenweenie. Frankenweenie's a pretty cool concept.

It is but this has me more intrested as this is a crazy world. So many ****ed up things are in it that he is just tailor made to direct this. Plus the realist cgi they are doing which I am not normally a fan of (i like cgi films to look cartoony) actually has be more intrested

Wasn't "Frankenweenie" Burton's first movie? So he's remaking one of his own movies.

Yes he is

Well, Frankenweenie was like a really short film, so now he's doing a longer version with a bigger budget.

I'd rather see Burton do a mature version of "Alice in Wonderland," because under Disney he's very limited on what he can do creatively (though he hasn't had a problem with that kind of thing before).

I like those limitations for this as the original story is one for children and adults and with out the limitations it might not appeal to children and would loose something , if this makes sense.

Sigh........ he's gonna ruin this.

I'm a huge fan of old-school Burton(Beetlejuice, Batman, Sleepy Hollow, etc.) but since Big Fish and his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory I think he's been very off and his movies are ridden with bad, anti-climactic timing(although I haven't seen Corpse Bride).

On top of this, he'll cast Helena Bonham Carter as Alice and Johnny Depp as the Cheshire Cat.

Big Fish and Charlie were both average films with occasional moments of brilliance, but I'd almost consider Corpse Bride a minor classic -- well, a few years from now.

(My grades: Fish and Charlie: B-; Bride: A-)

I liked Big Fish, but Corpse Bride wasn't anything to write home about.

Pirates of the Caribbean, man.

They might pull him back on somethings, but the Pirate movies were rather dark for Disney and they turned huge profit. So MAYBE Disney will give him more room to see if this could make a profit too.

I hate Alice in Wonderland. Its the ramblings of an opium addicted child molester. And it makes no sense at all. I mean none. Neither did Looking Glass. I'll pass on this.

I am interested. I like Tim Burton and I like revamping old stories with a hint of darkness.

Johnny Deep as the Mad Hatter is actually a good choice. I think that would be neat.

Someone's had a sketchy past.... :p

For Tim Burton, I'll definetly see it. Big Fish I absolutely loved, too. Never got the chance to see Corpse Bride. One of these days when it's on TV.

I'd still rather see American McGee's Alice, but this is a close second....well, any new Alice stories. I'm a bit of a Wonderland addict
