Anyways.....#112 was good. Pretty good. Not really good. But better than average good.

But then again most first issues to a new arc are like that.

Synopsis
So we open with a car chase. The Shocker has a partner or wheelman if you will. For a brief moment it looks as if they're gonna get away with the robbery. But then Spiderman shows up and puts a pause on that idea. Chaos ensues thru the street and in the midst of the trouble Kitty shows up and does her phasy thing thru the car. The car dies and the wheelman hits his head on the steering wheel and gets knocked out.

Kitty and Spidey kinda argue. Cops show up...Spidey leaves. Kitty just stands there with that "ZOMG! U broke mah ! :(" look.

We then cut to a scene featuring Demo-She-Wolf-MJ-Goblin. According to Immonen.....she is insanely huge compared to the 7ft tall hairy monster Bagley gave us. We are then lucky to find out that it is merely a dream sequence. MJ is dreaming during class.

She is abruptly woken up and all of a sudden Peter runs into class 15 minutes late. Not even 10 seconds later---before he can get out the doorway---Kitty comes running in. Let the teenage gossip and specualtion run wild. MJ is not pleased by this.

The class finds out that they have fallen victim to the most tried and true cliche high school project-----Carry the Fake Baby For A Week Because It Is Worth Half Your Grade! DUN DUN DUN! The class is paired off. Kitty and Peter are now parents together. DUN DUN DUN!

Meanwhile at Triskelion, Fury is nowhere to be found. Carol Danvers is in charge for the time being. One of the prisoners is getting rowdy. Guess which one it is? Go on.......I'll wait.

Still waiting.

Got it? Good. You guessed it....Osborn. Bendis you sly dog.

Osborn says he's ready to make a deal. The deal Fury promised him. Danvers says no deal. They trade a few mysonginistic quips and part ways.

Bak at High School----MJ and Peter are talking about the awkwardness of the whole assignment pairing. Kitty walks up and interjects herself into the convo. They all agree that it is weird and promise to work past it. Flash walks by and insults Kitty by calling the baby a half-mutie or something. Kong then donkey punches Flash in the back of the head and makes him apologize. Flash does. Kong then apologizes to Kitty for all that. They share a tender moment. Love is in the air. Kitty and Kong walk off talking to each other.

Back at Triskelion, Danvers is running thru the security schedule of the prsioners and all of a sudden they learn that there is a problem in Osborn's cell.

Then a big boom.

To be continued......

So all in all...not a bad issue. There was a few things of note:

-- Kitty and KongBendis possibly getting together.
-- A new and deadlier Shocker.
-- The possible return of Hairy MJ.
-- This is all taking place after the events of U3 for certain since you could see the repair construction of Triskelion as the boom at the end.

So yeah....

3.5/5 ---- Nothing great. But still a lot better than before. Mostly because of the shiny new Immonen look.

This issue felt...weak. Not horrible, but weak.

The art is fantastic. Another great book for Immonen.

But the issue itself was like a big meh. It was a quick read and nothing much happened. Normally that isn't a bad thing...depending on the situation.

Story: 2.5/5

Art: 5/5

Overall: 2.5/5

Like I said....most first issues to anew arc are always like that. A quick read to set it all up. The second issue is a small advance and has the problem looming. And so on.

But yeah...to an extent I agree and disagree.

I know most arcs start like that. Which sucks. Sometimes they're good, and sometimes they're not. This is one that wasn't very good.

This was like Moon Knight 28 second fast read. I'm not saying a lot of things had to happen, but this almost feels like a stand alone or stomething.

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man #112 (Discussion/Spoilers)

I like that Carol Danvers seems like the next Nick Fury. Is he going to die soon? Other than that, the story was pretty boring. Art is excellent though.

You mean U2 right, I'm glad they are firmly establishing the placement

Doubt it, though I do like her as the second in command getting a huge **** load of duties thrown on her.

This issue was okay but I cant stand Immonen's faces. They look horrible to me. I hated him on UXM and I dont like it that much here. Hate that they are bringing up wolfman again, I wish they would just do away with it. Th Kong moment was cool but I still hate Kitty being there, it doesnt fit. Really a lot is pissing me off with this cause I keep thinking back to all these stories that could have been written and it just ticks me off

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man #112 (Discussion/Spoilers)

Well I thought it was excellent.

But then again, I'm real easy to please when it comes to comics. (You don't know that by now?)

4.5/5

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man #112 (Discussion/Spoilers)

Nick Fury's role is obviously changing, if this issue was any indications. I don't think he'll die, but he may become more of a rogue character than a person in a power position. I'm not reading it, but isn't he dealing with Doom in Ultimate Power?

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man #112 (Discussion/Spoilers)

They keep saying that Ultimate Power will have one person get caught in the other universe. Fury could be that person...god that would suck. I'd rather have him rogue.

No, or Spidey would be there too. He is part of that two-issues-worth-of-content-that-didn't-get-better-with-the-secret-war-style-doom -reveal crap they are calling Ultimate Power.
Oh god... Ultimate Power is Ultimate Secret War.
No
Good.

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man #112 (Discussion/Spoilers)

I got the idea that, from his absense from the Ultimates team, that Hulk would be the person trapped in the Supreme Verse. Fury could be, though.

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man #112 (Discussion/Spoilers)

Has anyone here ever been assigned that project? Partnered up, half your grade, really big/realistic baby? In home economics in sixth or seventh grade, you had to bring in a basket to carry an egg around in by yourself for a week. I brought the basket in two days after the assignment had ended and I still passed that class with at least a high B.

Never have I had that. Not even with an egg.

You mean Ultimates 2, right? Still a bit premature to be making assumptions about Ultimates 3...other than it won't be as good as the first two. ;)

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man #112 (Discussion/Spoilers)

My bad...that's twice someone's pointed that typo out and I haven't corrected it.

But seeing as how I'm too lazy to edit....just know that I stand corrected on my typo and that I did mean U2.

No, but I almost staged a kidnapping once when a high school student brought her "baby" into the library, parked it in a study carrell, and just walked out of the room....

I couldn't believe she did that. You just don't leave a child lying around unsupervised.
