How would you rate Iron Man?

I think it will keep a number 1 spot till Indiana Jones comes out and no offence to anyone but wipes Iron man's numbers away. I honestly predict the two films that will do best at cinema this year = Indiana Jones and Star wars clone wars just for the sheer size of the fan bases.

Honestly, I don't think the Star Wars Clone Wars movie is going to get the massive base that Lucas wants it to get. It'll get the younger generation of fans, but I almost guarentee that a large number of the older star wars people will stay away...

I mean, the original animated series was popular enough, but not enough to make this movie hold #1 in the box office for more than a week. Especially since it's starting up right around when people are getting ready to go back to school.

That is true the fact it is cgi will most likely hurt it's rantings.

Seeing as the 10 Rings is a multinational terrorist organization, I don't think we have to worry about him being a "yellow peril" villain. He'll be a terrorist. As for him being Asian, well, that's a given. He'll probably say he's a direct descendant of Genghis Khan and that the title of "The Mandarin" was first created by Khan.

As for the ring themselves. . .my guess is they are just highly advanced technology. Perhaps mini-ARC reactors each meant to power a different function. I doubt they'll go the alien route.

As for other villains. . .Crimson Dynamo could work like he did in the Ultimate Universe. Instead of a single threat (As you said, it'd be kind of redundant with Iron Monger already used), he controls an army of Crimson Dynamos.

Or they could use Fin Fang Foom. :D

EDIT: http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Scoop-Iron-Man-2-Plot-And-Villain-Details-8736.html

Or, they could use The Mandarin AND Fin Fang Foom. But, Thor needs to stay a cameo. He's getting his own movie and will team up with Tony in The Avengers. He doesn't need anything besides a cameo in Iron Man 2. I like the possibility of Fury playing a bigger role, though. More Sam Jackson is a good thing.

I'm torn about Fin Fang Foom. I love him, but like Galactus, he'd be a hard thing to take seriously onscreen (sorry TOG), and we all know how FF2 came out.

Maybe make him a genetic experiment. Or a robot, but that seems too Transformers-y.

In purple underpants.

He hasn't been wearing the shorts lately.

And really? He'd be hard to take seriously?

What's different between Fin Fang Foom and Godzilla? Or the Cloverfield Monster? Sure, FFF can communicate, but that's really the only difference!

Any chance of Mandarin in a sequel? In the old cartoon he seemed to be Iron Man's biggest foe like lex to sperman and gobby to spidey

There's always a chance. And since they already have the mentions of The Ten Rings, it's not hard to lead in to Mandarin from there (although even w/o the mention of it it'd still be easy to transition into).

I think The Mandarin is pretty much a lock. His name has been thrown around since early drafts of this movie.

Not if it's an ultra realistic dragon like LOTR or something
With very realistic purple pants.

Seriously though, I don't care what anyone says, Fin Fang Foom can be in a movie.

And he can even talk.

And it could still be awesome, even though the last major motion picture featuring a talking dragon was Dragonheart.

I think MODOK would be a better choice than Fin Fang Foom.

I think MODOK hasn't got a chance in hell of being in a movie. If they made an AIM movie the closest thing in it would be the Mechanical Organism Designed Only For Combat.

As for anyone who says talking dragons don't work I have one word for you.

Smaug.

Talking dragons work fine.... but any dragon in this franchise would be a very poor idea.

I want to see the Mandarin, in a new improved way. The concept of the Crimson Dynamo has plenty of potential. Either one could be completely revamped and made into an almost original character and work just fine as a villain.

One thing I hope they stick to is not using going out of their way to use supervillain names, like with the Iron Monger. Crimson Dynamo is fine as it's a publicity name, but I could see "the Mandarin" being just slyly used as the alias of the boss of the Ten Rings organization(who I'm totally for being the terrorist from this film).

OK...

There seems to be some heated discussion about the Mandarin and his possible appearance in the sequel to this excellent Iron Man movie. Well...

Why?

The Mandarin doesn't have to be the "classic" Yellow Peril Mandarin from the 1960's. That would just be stupid and useless...

BUT. China has made leaps and bounds in the technology and manufacturing industries. Why not have a Mandarin who is a leader in both, the Chinese Tony Stark who wants to use Stark's ARC reactor technology to power his ten rings. Did I mention, he's also the leader of a multi-national terrorist group?

Because you can be a successful bidness man and also be the leader of a multinational terrorist group. And that makes you seriously F'N evil. Word.

I see where having Fing Fang Foom might not 'fit right' in the franchise, but I think it could still be made to work, even if FFF isn't in the movie for that long.

Cool I hope he makes it to sequel.

Soon to be the DBZ movie next year with Shenron.:D

If they use FFF like they are in Iron Man; Viva Los Vegas, I think it could work (he's like a giant golden robot dragon thing)

That's idiotic. Fin Fang Foom isn't a robot.

His actual origin, being an alien slumbering on Earth for eons, awakened by man and wreacking havoc, is a good one, if a bit "done" at this point.

There's no reason they can't just use that, maybe have Stark drilling somewhere or soemthing and awaking him. It's fine.

That just seems like a waste of special effects money for one fight scene.

If they wanted to use robot instead, they could always go with Ultimo.

However considering mandarin will likely be the villain in the next film and considering his rings of power put him iron Man's league, he doesn't really need FFF or ultimo to fight for him.
